This 20 year custom old post and beam timber framed cottage has 3 bedrooms with queen beds. 2 small bunk rooms with 2 beds in each. , along with a bunk room of the family room with 4 extra long twin bunks.
4 bathrooms, (1) full on the second floor (1 1/2) on the main floor, and (1) full in the basement. Open concept first floor with fully equipped kitchen. Great room with flatscreen TV, and fireplace. Walk out basement with pool table and air hockey table. Entire house is wired for music with volume controls in each room and easy blue tooth

Huge veranda deck over looking the peaceful Saco river. Kayaking, swimming and fishing from the back yard. Large fire pit located in the back yard. Hammock and plenty of outdoor seating included. Walking trail maintained around the 3 acres.

Everything a vacationer would want all within a 5 min to one hour drive from the house. Or just relax, enjoy the property, the deck, and the lazy saco river

This rental was one our best so far! The house is fantastic with lots of room for multiple families. Check-in was easy, the kitchen is well equipped and the entire place was very clean! The grounds are also quite impressive. From the firepit to the large deck and down the path to the river, it's a perfect place to play or relax. We will definitely keep this place on our list to stay again...maybe next time in the winter!

Great House

House was Fantastic inside and out! Only downfall was the terrible weather and river flooding bringing massive amounts of flies and mosquitoes which kept us inside most the trip. If not for the fantastic house on the inside we would have abandoned the whole trip.

Beautiful Property - Rustic meets Modern

This property is a gem of a place to stay. Linda and her caretaker provided a seamless check-in process and tons of helpful suggestions for activities. The property is immaculate and has all the modern amenities one could need. All this in a rustic log cabin type setting with an incredible layout with many common areas for group activities and other areas offering solitude and privacy. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their visit. Looking forward to staying here again!

Thankful Thanksgiving

As always, we had a wonderful time at the Cabin! It is beautiful, we had snow which just made it all the more cozy. The house is like being in the home you always dreamed of. This trip was with myself, my kids, my sisters and their kids and we all had such a great family Thanksgiving, playing games, cooking, just wonderful. Thank you again for allowing us to enjoy your Cabin.

What a beautiful spot!

We have stayed in many house rentals and this place is at or near the top of the list! As others have said in their reviews, the photos don't do it justice. The architecture and quality workmanship of the house is beautiful. The combination of that along with the size and beauty of the property is what makes it unmatched in our travels. The array of entertainment, inside and out, is fantastic. David, the property manager, stopped by to see if we had any questions and later, when questions came up, was very quick to respond. We highly recommend this property!

Winter Dream

We came with 6 adults and three kids. Just four days, but we went skiing, skating, snowmobiling and shopped. (Ok, there was some splitting up during the days.). The best part of our daily adventures is returning to this grand log cabin retreat. The fireplace is always burning and the whole place glows with warmth. We get more quality family time in a few days here than we do in a few months at home. Truly a magical place! We've been coming summer and winter for years and this place just keeps getting better.

Another wonderful stay...just too short!

Linda graciously agreed for our family to again stay at Rivers Edge Cottage, but this time for a family celebration, rather than a week's vacation. It was great to be back (unexpectedly sooner than we would have thought), but we all commented how wonderful it was to stay here again! Our celebration was a tremendous success due to all of the space, and especially the basement room. The pool table and air hockey table are always favorites. My daughter says she wants to live here when she gets older! Rivers Edge is a magical place to stay any time of year! I suspect Linda hasn't seen the last of us yet, either!

It was a perfect family Christmas gateway!

Thank you to the hosts, Linda and Gary for letting us stay at the wonderful house during this magical time that is Christmas! This place is so enchanting. We had a blast hanging around the fire pit while the sun set. we can feel the warmth in the house, everything was well thought out! we felt so welcome. Special thanks to David who had prepared our late night arrival and came back in the morning to show us the house. Special mention to the cleanliness of the house. From all the houses we've rented, which is quite a few, this is by far the cleanest. This was the perfect house for our little Christmas Getaway! Thanks again for everything :)

Enchanting and Beautiful Home

We could not have been happier to spend Thanksgiving at Linda's home. The house is beautiful and as shown (maybe better) than the pictures provided. It was clean, welcoming and tastefully decorated for the holidays, which made it even more festive to be there. The home comes with everything you need, and Linda ensured that I was aware of that since we would be cooking Thanksgiving dinner. She was in touch from the beginning and ensured we had not only the info needed but also extras like what would be happening locally over the weekend. The caretaker for the property continued that feeling of "being in good hands", calling in advance of our arrival, having the house all ready for us and then checking in to ensure everything was good. We have 3 children as well as brought both sets of grandparents. Everyone had a wonderful time and there was plenty to do. The kids enjoyed the "theatre" with the starry ceiling, pool and air hockey, hiking along the river and trails, and of course the lofts were a BIG hit with the boys while our daughter took over the small bunk rooms! The grandparents enjoyed spending time with the kids (big and small), hiking and playing lots of games. We all have Linda's home as a place to return to. I would definitely go again for Thanksgiving or fall/winter, as well as we would love to try the summer and really enjoy the river. Thank you Linda for helping us to have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

This is the first rental we've stayed in that had flat bottom cookware. The worked great on the cook-top. The stairs are tricky. I fell on them and am still nursing a sore shoulder.

Family River Fun

Beautiful large home right on the Saco river. The house inside and out was loaded with things to do, i.e., tree fort, fishing, swimming, ping pong table, pool table, arcade, fire pit, huge deck , We brought our kayaks and large 12 person rubber raft and had a blast on the river. Also, for a day trip, 40 minutes to StoryLand. We will definitely return.

Christmas

Our family of 8 stayed here and loved everything about the cabin!!! Well supplied kitchen wonderful fireplace,if we had any complaints it would been beds were a little hard, but that is personal preference. Highly recommend and would definetly come back!

Winter Wonderland

It felt like a cabin straight from a Hallmark movie. It was cozy, comfy and spacious. The fireplace, decor, game room, huge deck and wonderful sledding hill made us feel right at home. The firepit and the swing by the river and the river itself was very relaxing even in the very cold weather. Linda the Host and David the caretaker were both warm and friendly people. Linda reached out to us to make sure we got settled in and all was comfortable. We didn't want to leave!

Girls week

We were a group of 7 lifetime friends celebrating our 65th birthdays. The house is fairly remote from towns, and it was a little difficult to find as there were no house numbers or other identifying markers on a rural road. However, the pictures do not do it justice. The location is absolutely beautiful and the owners have spent a great deal of thought and time into turning the property into a virtual waterside playground. The house itself is stunning and everything was clean and in good working order. Linens and towels were abundant and the kitchen was also very well stocked. We swam off the dock in the chilly Saco in mid Sept. We were blessed with sunny days and cool nights. North Conway, Bridgton, and the Kangamagus Highway are all within reasonable driving distance. The caretaker met us there and gave us a tour, and was available by text with any questions we had. Would highly recommend this property, heeding the owners descriptions of the childrens rooms and lofts, as the former are really meant for small humans and the lofts are not for the faint of heart!

End of summer vacation

Had a wonderful week using the property as a springboard for kayaking, hiking and shopping. Enjoyed grilling on the deck, cooking indoors and roasting marshmallows and hotdogs at the oversized fire pit. Several fantastic nights for stargazing. Also enjoyed a couple quiet nights making use of the TV downstairs and game room.

I stayed in this beautiful cabin over New Years and it was just lovely. Quiet, peaceful. Communication with the property manager was outstanding. The cabin is idyllic. Would recommend to anyone seeking to 'get away from it all.'

We built this home away from home to get away from our busy lives in CT and enjoy all of what 'Vacationland' has to offer. Relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Maine. This house and property has truly been our labor of love. We are happy to share it with you!

Why they chose this property

We picked the sleepy town of Brownfield Maine to build our 3,000 square foot cottage because of the easy access to everything we might like to do including: the arts (music, local artists, craftsmen etc) including Stone Mountain arts Center. Hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and boating. Less then 1 hour to old Orchard Beach, or Freeport. Shopping and great restaurants of all types. Nearly (20) Ski resorts within an hour drive. Snowmobile and snowshoe trail access directly across the street.

Just about everything you would want to do from minutes to max 1 hour away.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with the beautiful park like setting, to build our home. The ever changing Saco river is mesmerizing. We have the only peninsula on the river which we go to often and sit on our swing. It feels like a golden pond. Being so close to the river allows us to witness nature in all her beauty. To see turkeys, eagles, ducks, and deer. Are all part of the beauty of this place. A small piece of heaven.
