It was a cozy and very cleanly home. Beds were very comfortable. Close walk to eateries and short drive to amazing hikes. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at this sweet home. Our doggo had a whole backyard to himself and the host and the people of the town were so sweet and amazing. We really appreciated the cleanliness of the place and communicative host. Thank you again
Castle house is the spot to stay! I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to stay here. James was so fair with his pricing and it literally had everything you needed and more:) But what really resonated with me is the sense of peace that really pours through his house and property. Watching the wildlife come to the patio, seeing the backdrop of the Mount Shasta, and feeling the sunshine cascade through the trees. Just an amazing adventure! Thank you James:)
I found I needed ear plugs at night as the noise from I5 (right above the back of the house) kept me awake. Has a full kitchen and everything needed for a stay
The host made everything every easy and smooth during our check in process. He went above and beyond when I had issues booking through VRBO and did everything needed to make sure we were able to secure a booking. The property was clean and very nice.
We enjoyed our stay. The location is nice and it was quiet as it is close to other homes. The beds were not that comfortable and the pull out was broken. One guest had to sleep sideways for 3 nights. Host didn’t answer to remedy this situation. We needed a hair dryer which the host messaged that one would be there and we did not find one. I asked ahead of stay and during stay in which we never got an answer. It was well priced, safe and was OK.

I'm not sure where the hair dryer went from the sink, but there was one behind the top of the mirror that was sticking up. I'm not sure what happened with the sofa pullout but I will see what the issue was. I'll check with my housekeeper to see what happened to the second hairdryer!?

James has a nice place, very responsive host. We love the area.
We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay while doing backcountry activities in Shasta! We could easily cook in the kitchen, had plenty of heaters and blankets, and enjoyed the fireplace.
Overall a pleasant stay, cozy home, cozy fireplace, pet friendly, clean beds, maybe needs newer pots and pans and a new tea kettle but over all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back
My housekeeper was very impressed with how well you took care of everything!
About the host
Hosted by James Thomas
I live in Redding but my housekeeper is in Siskiyou County. I renovated this house a few years ago and love the area.
Why they chose this property
The trees on the property are quite lovely and the neighborhood is quiet.
What makes this property unique
It is a rustic house with a wood stove which provides plenty of heat in the winter. There are also baseboard heaters in the bedrooms. Pets are welcome and there is a fenced back yard. If you enjoy cooking your own meals, the kitchen is complete with stainless steel appliances.
