About this property

Sunny Cottage on Private Oceanfront Point

Cozy Sunny Oceanfront Cottage on your own private point with 250ft of coastal frontage and unobstructed ocean views from each of the 8 windows in the living room. Experience peace and tranquility as you gaze at the golden sunset reflecting across the water. Enjoy the wonder of nature as you watch our local bald eagle, loons, Canada geese, ducks, deer, turkey and many local birds. Watch the lobsterman pull his traps, seagulls harvest their clams, and osprey dive for dinner….. or cast your own fishing pole off the rocks and fish for stripers … just steps from your front door. Nature's entertainment is constantly changing just outside your window. It’s no wonder that Maine nurtures so many artists and poets. Our beautiful surroundings are the inspiration for the poet to translate words into emotion and the artist to transform paint into a vision.
The cottage is 5 minutes from Brunswick which hosts an abundance of great restaurants, shops, cinemas, golf courses, museums, bike and walking paths, and the popular Maine Music Theatre. Smithsonian Magazine voted Brunswick as one of America’s best small towns in 2012. Maine’s largest city, historic Portland, is only 45 minutes away…..Although one would wonder why you would ever want to leave. So sit back, relax, and remember days gone by, when life was simpler and vacations were a time for rest, relaxation and renewal.

We are a mid-60’s couple. The cottage was clean and well equipped. The bed is very comfortable and cozy. WiFi worked great. The location is wonderful. The property itself is secluded with a fabulous view of the water. We spent a good amount of time outside in the Adirondack chairs reading and soaking in the water views. It’s also close to Brunswick, a charming little city. Diane, the owner/host lives on the same property in a separate house, we hardly ever saw her, but she quickly answered any questions we had and had some wonderful suggestions for things to do.I highly recommend this cottage.

Sunny Cottage Maine

We had a fantastic stay. The cottage is perfect for a Maine getaway. The property is very secluded on a private point. We watched ospreys, eagles, kingfishers, various shore birds and even seals. Brunswick is close by. There are many good places to eat along the shore. Diane was a wonderful host. We would definitely stay there again.

What a Gem!

Outstanding on every count! Owner (Diane) could not have been more helpful and accommodating. House and grounds have been scrupulously maintained -- even the windows had been washed just before our arrival. Kitchen and bedrooms were well appointed and supplied with everything a visitor might need. Secluded and calendar-quality waterfront setting and scenery provided all the peace and privacy one could desire. We'll definitely be back!

Maine Mindfulness

The charm of this cottage is its location. Surrounded on three sides by water, it affords endless opportunities to decompress and watch Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herson, Egrets, Ospreys, deer and turkey, Terns diving for fish . . . A balm for the soul. Small in stature it may be, big it is BIG in charm and vistas. Diane, the owner, lives close by, and while you would never know she was there, she is always ready to help with anything that you may need or answer your questions.

What a perfect slice of heaven!

My husband and I made a long-overdue return to Maine after many years and this little cottage on its own Western-facing point exceeded our expectations in every way. Beautiful. Quiet. Private. Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome, with recommendations for local restaurants, hikes, etc. The bed and accommodations were very and comfortable and the sunsets were absolutely stunning! No doubt, we’ll be staying here again!

A Peaceful Retreat

The hosts of this retreat, Diane and Larry, could not have been more welcoming or informative. Diane has a very well organized "tourist booth" right inside the cabin: sightseeing, restuarants, museums and many other area attractions. This cabin is truly special as it sits on it's own little pennisula, away from the big house so it's very private. Really clean and well organized kitchen, but the bathroom is kinda small. But hey, you're in a cabin in the Maine woods not a spa lol! It too is just right...the bedroom has a comfy king bed with a good variety of pillows to lounge around on after your hikes or touring lighthouses. There's a table in front of the big windows which face west for the fantastic sunsets. the table has a drop leaf so you can have your coffee there and plan your day. The yard has access to the water so you can toss a fishing line in if so inclined at high tide. And the entire property itself is so beautifully landscaped with flowers blooming in all the right places!! We had such a relaxing vacation there we are thinking of going back in the fall. Thank you Diane and Larry for such a great week in Maine! Mary & Steve

My wife and I stayed at the Cottage on the Point for a week in late September, and it was wonderful. At the cottage you are immersed in nature – the tides, wildfowl, water views, sunsets, fresh air and seclusion. The location is perfect, with great seafood restaurants, ice cream, and nature walks on Harpswell Neck and Orr's and Bailey’s Islands. A short drive north or west gets you to Brunswick, Bath and Freeport. We settled into a great week of daily outings and lots of relaxation at the cottage. The cottage itself was charming and well equipped for our stay, true to the listing photos and perfectly comfortable. The owner, Diane, lives in a separate house further up the property. She is a delightful person and a great hostess! She respected our privacy but oriented us to the cottage and the area on our arrival and answered questions and shared information as appropriate over the course of our stay.We usually take a fall getaway to Maine or Atlantic Canada and always pick a new locale to explore each year. But my wife and I agreed the Cottage on the Point is the one we want to visit again!

The Cottage was very comfortable, clean, and charming. We enjoyed the view of the bay while sitting in the adirondac chairs on the point. Private Oceanfront Point

It is hard to beat this property for location. It is out on a point surrounded by water on three sides. Great for watching wildlife in quite solitude. We saw seals late one evening. Close to restaurants, shops, maritime museum, old forts and other attractions. Talking to the owner felt like talking to an old friend.

Peaceful!

Clean, quaint, small cottage with amazing views of ocean-tide fed bay. We watched seals, ducks, egrets, cranes, and eagles from the Adirondack chairs close to the cottage or the from the cottage windows. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating.

Best location I could have chosen

Unlike many, I didn’t have a particular location in mind when I booked the cottage. I had the flexibility to choose where I rented based on the home vs being required to be in a location. Regardless, the cottage was the absolute best choice. Excellent location (less than an hr to Portland, 20-30 minutes to many other areas), lots of variety in activities (hiking, biking, shopping, sightseeing). And the views!!! The cottage is right in its own little inlet and the peace and tranquillity cannot be beat. I could easily have spent an entire day (or three) there just enjoying sitting by the water and reading. Highly recommend, and I will absolutely be back! Host was great, very personable and full of lots of great suggestions.

Charming Stay

Small cottage in a delightful setting, on a point on an inlet just south of Brunswick. Very well equipped galley kitchen, light filled bedroom/living area, comfortable furniture. Tiny bathroom with an above the sink mirror hung too high for a short person to easily floss her teeth; a simple remedy would be an additional small mirror on the same wall. Diane provided ample information about the area, both in printed material and verbally. We enjoyed meeting her, especially the evening we checked in when she pointed out a bald eagle perched in a nearby tree, watching for a fish to snatch out of the inlet. And evening sunsets over the water to boot. Lovely!

A true quintessential Maine Cottage!

Located just steps from the water, our 1-weeks stay at Sunny Cottage was perfect in every way. The cottage is charming, comfortable & the perfect size for 2 people to enjoy and relax. The cottage is located on a slightly elevated private point of land jutting out into the water with 270 degrees of unobstructed water views (from inside and outside) that constantly change with the tides and there's no shortage of wildlife including bald eagles that soar above you and visit every day taking roost in a large pine just outside the cottage door. Amazing views and the sunsets were stunning. The cottage and grounds are well maintained with careful stewardship deserving of a special place. The interior comfortable and tastefully appointed with everything you need and nothing you don't. The main living space/bedroom has ample room to move around, the kitchen just the right size for 2 people, the bathroom small but you figure it out. Harpswell is an interesting mix of narrow peninsulas and dozens of islands with some of the best scenic views in Maine and great casual places to eat. We found the cabin's location on the upper end of the peninsulas made it easy to get around, shop and travel within Harpswell and up/down the coast. Diane is a wonderful host, friendly, vastly knowledgeable about the area and history with insights and recommendations only a long time local would know, helpful when needed and respectful of your privacy. Our expectations were pleasantly exceeded.

Location, Location, Location!

We were thrilled by the incredible 270 degree view of the Bay visible from the room and the cottage’s proximity to the water. The location simply couldn’t be better: Private and quiet, yet ten minutes from charming downtown Brunswick and extensive food, supplies and interesting stores and restaurants. In addition, Diane was a wonderful host: friendly, thoughtful and totally respecting our privacy. Without our asking, she even changed our towels halfway through the week since it had been damp weather and always responded instantly to our requests. What more could we ask?ithisidyllicsettsettsetting? We will most certainly return.
