Located in the grounds of the historic 1830's Kippilaw Homestead property, the Kippilaw Stonehouse is a dream country getaway for couples.
Set on a 400 acre cattle farm, with 10 acres of beautiful gardens, 2 horses, 4 alpacas and a shed full of chickens, and with access to the property tennis court and swimming pool (in the warmer months), the Stonehouse is newly renovated, bringing together new appliances and a fresh bathroom and kitchen with unique historical touches, all overlooking the Wollondilly River. The 400 acre working farm also hosts black angus cows and their calves.
The Kippilaw Estate is one of the first grand residences in the colony of New South Wales, dating back to the 1830s. The stonehouse within Kippilaw has been lushly renovated, whilst retaining many original character features that reflect its rich history.
The stonehouse is in a private enclosed acreage shared with the shearers quarters, within the broader Kippilaw estate.
The stonehouse sleeps 2, with a queen bed in the bedroom and a luxurious, newly renovated bathroom.
It has an open fireplace and firewood supplied for the cooler months. There is also an outdoors fire pit for the winters and a bbq on the balcony overlooking the river, if you would rather a casual meal rather than using the newly renovated kitchen.
Breakfast for the first morning (cereal, milk, eggs, coffee and tea) is provided, and guests are welcome to help themselves to further eggs and vegetables (when in season and available from the chicken shed and orchard/vegetable garden).
There is a dedicated car space proximate to the stonehouse.
Full access to the fenced acre for guests, and ready access to the grounds of the historic Kippilaw estate itself with rose gardens, orchards, a tennis court and pool, along with farm animals (chickens, alpacas and a pony and horse).
Situated in Goulburn, the stonehouse is a 15 minute drive through stunning southern tablelands countryside from Goulburn's main street, which hosts all the amenities you would expect of a town of 20,000 people.
The stonehouse is private and, together with the shearers quarters, separate from the main Kippilaw estate. Guests are left to relax in their own space.
Apart from the owners of the property, we have a resident manager who lives onsite, but normally out of view of the stonehouse. Onsite assistance is hence available if required, and we are a phone call away if required.
The stonehouse has been a working part of this historic piece of Australian history, and is now available for short stay vacations.
The property is between 10 and 15 minutes from Goulburn train station and town. There is car parking right next to the stonehouse.
** Strictly no parties, no guests more than the nominated capacity of guests per room may enter thr grounds and unfortunately we cannot host anyone that is not a paying guest in accomodation onsite, on our grounds.

Perfect place to unplug and enjoy peace & quiet. Very comfortable & spacious accomodation with privacy. Warm & cozy in the cooler months with the fireplace, and heaters. There was no need to leave the property for the short stay, which meant making the most of the quality time to just unwind,
We enjoyed such a relaxing, serene weekend at Kippilaw Stone Cottage. The Cottage was impeccably clean and had every modern convenience you could think of. Surrounding all the modern luxuries was the most amazing history dripping from every beam. To cap everything off, we were treated to the most amazing view of the river, green hills and black Angus cattle right outside our door. We couldn't have hoped for a better weekend away - thank you.
The accommodation was unique & comfortable, providing everything we needed.
The location peaceful & very beautiful & full of history.
The owners easy to contact & the caretaker very helpful & friendly.
This property is just so tranquil.
Stone Cottage was sunny, very comfortable, the rooms spacious and nicely decorated.
We were welcomed (on a fairly windy and cold afternoon) with the warmth of a slow combustion stove heating with house. There was a generous wood heap at the front door and it was topped each day with chopped wood and kindling, courtesy of the Manager, Darrin.
There are beautiful walks around the property, with donkeys, chickens, cattle and horses, plus an alpaca in residence.
All in all a perfect retreat.
We will definitely return!
Gorgeous property, we loved every minute. The bath with a glass of wine overlooking the countryside was heaven on a stick !
We would love to return, thankyou.
This property was so lovely! We arrived and the fire was already lit and the cottage was roasty toasty. It was incredibly clean, so spacious for the two of us and the grounds of the property was just amazing! Will 100% be renting this property again!
My partner and I enjoyed a two night stay. Fantastic accommodation, lovely comfortable furnishings and we loved the fireplace! Great little get away and gorgeous setting. Would definitely recommend.
The Stonehouse was beautiful and spacious. The smell of the fire place walking in was great, fireplace easy to start with ample firewood at the front of the door to keep it going. Despite being minus degrees outside the property stayed warm and the bed had electric heating covers and which made it a cosy sleep. The property itself was breathtaking, the animals were beautiful and fell in love with the miniature donkeys who were gentle and friendly and let me pat them! The 3 days away was what I needed to get away from the chaos of normal life. Will defiantly come back again.
Staying at the wonderful Kippilaw property was a pure tonic. Wonderful accommodation that is comfortable and well appointed, and lovely property with lots to explore, great views and animals to enjoy. We booked a few days to unwind and relax and Kippilaw was perfect - we didn't get in our car at all during our stay. The owner and manager were available and responsive when needed and very hospitable. We will definitely return.
Spent two night in the gorgeous Stone House. Darrin met us with a smile on arrival and a fire already warming the cottage. They were very chilly days but it made our stay more perfect. Time in front of the fire enjoying the views and walks around the grounds made for a lovely stay. Great communication from Lynelle. Looking forward to visiting again.
Stunning location and facilities. Perfect for relaxing or staying active if you wish Darren very pleasant at check in. Definitely will return

Lux Rural Retreat
A wonderful space to relax and enjoy an idyllic rural setting in relative seclusion.
Grateful for the opportunity to also explore the grounds of the estate and have use of the superb pool area.
The perfectly positioned benches around the estate allowed you to absorb the sights, sounds and scents from the gardens and farmlands beyond.
We settled into a delightful daily rhythm of sleeping, reading, swimming, bathing, eating and drinking together with good music and lots of love.
Thank you Lynelle, Andrew and Darrin for another beautiful experience in our life!

A fantastic taste of country life...
We had an extremely enjoyable 3 night stay recently in the Stonehouse at the Kippilaw estate outside of Goulburn. The Stonehouse itself is very well equipped with all the comforts of home but in rustic country setting. The view of the river from the back deck was stunning and for me the best feature of the house.
The grounds of the property are simply beautiful and a great place to take a leisurely stroll and explore. I also loved all the animals, from the sweet alpacas to the native bird life. The pool was a real bonus and a great way to cool down from the intense summer heat.
The hosts, Andrew and Lynelle are friendly and welcoming and were keen to ensure that we had everything we needed. The onsite manager, Darrin was also on hand to sort out any problems that we had.
Given how much we enjoyed our stay, we would love to return to Kippilaw and experience the property during the cooler months of the year. Highly recommended!

Beautifully Tranquil
We loved our 2 night stay and wish it was longer! The Stonehouse was wonderfully comfortable, spacious for 2, and cool on a hot day. The gardens around the historic homestead are beautiful and well maintained (perfect for a picnic) and all the farm animals were gorgeous. Darrin the caretaker was very friendly and helpful. We will be back again when we want another few days away in quiet, rural, comfort.

WOW! Perfect place to unwind!
Wow! Just Wow!
The Stonehouse has it all to help you relax and unwind.
The views over the paddocks of alpacas to the stunning wollondilly river with it's swans, ducks and even platypus were breathtaking.
The Stonehouse itself was homely, beautifully styled and very clean. We loved the wood fire, the incredibly thick walls, timber beams and soaking bath.
Being able to walk around the grounds of the historic property, collect fresh eggs from the chook yard and enjoy the gardens was such a privilege.
Lynelle, Andrew and Darrin were wonderful hosts and were happy to assist in any way.
We will definitely be back.

Peaceful Stonehouse
We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing at Kippilaw's luxurious Stonehouse.
With a warm, clean, spacious and stylish environment, we immediately felt comfortable when greeted with a friendly smile by Darrin who welcomed us into the home where the woodfire was already lit.
We loved the outlook with the green hills and the Wollondilly River including platypus, swans, ducks and other birdlife. We spotted alpacas, bulls, donkeys, chickens, rabbits and a horse on the fascinating and historical property. Such a tranquil environment - oh and the stars at night - just magical!!
Thank you for sharing your property with us - we hope to visit again one day.

Stunning rural location, sensitively restored and extremely cosy.
The stonehouse is extremely cosy and comfortable with a large slow combustion wood heater and plenty of iron bark logs to fuel it stored just outside the front door. The views out of every window over the creek and paddocks are stunning. We saw black swans, ducks, rabbits, what we think was a sneaky fox early one morning, as well as cattle and alpacas. We felt very welcome and communication was excellent. There were eggs, bacon, and bread provided, as well as cereals, condiments, coffee, tea and milk. This place is a gem if you appreciate an immaculately clean, stylishly decorated and sensitively restored heritage property.

Stunning location and a real historical gem!
We had a fantastic stay at Kippilaw. The Stonehouse is in a beautiful location with amazing scenery, and it truely is the perfect mix of modern conveniences and historical charm. The traditional open fireplace takes work (so bring your significant other to brave the cold and gather firewood from outside) and with separate rooms, you'll need the heater too, but this just adds to the winter experience. A comfy bed, bath with a view, complete kitchen, and cosy lounge, you'll want for nothing more. Make sure you walk the grounds of this historical gem too - it's bliss. To top all this off, the staff are fabulous - we couldn't ask for better people to deal with. We've stayed previously and we will stay again.

Hi Claire,
Thanks so much for your feedback! Just to let you know we are putting a wood burner into the existing fireplace this week, which is meant to be much warmer ( than the original fireplace) and also has a fan to distribute the heat better. We loved having you stay with us! Thanks again Claire, Lynelle and Andrew
