Come visit our brick, one-level beach house in 'Paradise Retreat.' Just a short stroll to the Emerald Waters off the Gulf of Mexico. We are the first beach home in the Paradise Retreat community and the closest to the deeded beach access.We hope you will be as excited as we are in this four-bedroom, two full bath home. Dressed in a nautical style in appreciation of the coastal lifestyle and in celebration of the mystical creature the 'Mermaid'

We offer a PRIVATE SALT WATER SWIMMING POOL WITH HEAT as an option ($350.00 per week plus tax) NO you do not have to share with a community! Or an entire condominium! It is all yours.

The master bedroom is private and features its own large bath, a walk-in closet, beautifully furnished, King-size bedding, TV.

The large great room is sunny & bright with natural sunlight, a large sectional sofa with chaise for those extra friends! plenty of seating, TV, furnished with books & movies, games, cards, & you can sit & enjoy the pool view from the great room.

Two children's bedrooms both have twin beds & TV in each bedroom.

The second adult bedroom is cool and inviting with a nostalgic theme for bathing beauties of the 30s and 40s.TV.

Was a great location. Loved how homey the house was and the decor was perfect. Our host, Mrs Rosemary, was very courteous, helpful, and was always quick to respond to our needs and questions. It was all we could have asked for and then some for a great vacation. Would definitely go back and absolutely will recommend to friends and loved ones!!!

Amazing Stay!

Mermaid house was great! Location was so close to the beach and having the private beach entrance and beach area was so convenient. Our kids loved having the bikes to ride around the neighborhood, which is very quiet and we felt safe letting them ride whenever they wanted. The pool was huge and our family of 7 had plenty of room to all be in at the same time.

Mermaid Stay

Overall was a great time and place. Pool was a great size for the entire family. Only issue at all was the HOA president telling us to move our golf cart as soon as we parked it to move cars around. When we told him what we were doing to rearrange he didn’t seem to care or be interested in what we said.

Family fun

We took 4 grandkids ages 9-17. House was set up perfect. We paid for the pool to be heated and well worth the extra money!! Short, nice, easy walk to the beach. Clean. Loved having linens and towels, saved space on packing. Only complaint is wished there were better frying pans, but what's there definitely took care of our needs. Definitely will rent again.

Family Vacation

Best vacation ever! The house was beautiful and clean. There was plenty of room for everyone and plenty to do. The pool was wonderful and private. Short walk to a gated private beach with chair and umbrellas for rent. It was close to shops and the best restaurants. The beds were comfortable TV’s in all rooms. Board games and books available. Bikes, pool toys/floats and a golf cart in the garage as well as an extra refrigerator. We did not use any of the bikes or the golf cart but was nice they were so convenient. The owner was very helpful and answered all messages within minutes. I will definitely be back!

Rosemary was very easy to talk to! This house is excellent location! It is the first house in the quiet subdivision, so very easy access to the beach. Extremely short walk! Pool is very nice size and deep for older children!

Very nice.

Loved everything, but the pool water was so hot in the afternoons due to no shade. I also thought the golf cart came with the price of the home. I will still rate it a 5/5 and will stay there again if we go back to Destin.

Very hot house

Nice location, home needs many updates. Home stays really hot inside, doors dont seal. The house needs a good deep clean. Carpet needs cleaned in rooms.

Family vacation

We loved the area and hope to return but we will not stay at this house again. This house is very dirty and could use a little love. There is a garage but they don’t let you park inside. The golf cart is subpar, don’t rent it. The king bed is very soft and the others are very hard. I brought my own fry pan and I am glad I did. You have minimal towels and they don’t offer beach towels the pool was nice but it too needs updating. There are lots of rentals in the area in my opinion you should rent one of those.

Excellent location with a pool and easy access to white sand beaches

Selected the Mermaid home based on location and pool. Grand kids, 5 & 7, loved the pool (right size, we paid for heating, and deep (excellent for cannon balls!). They swam every day of their visit, regardless of the weather!!) The 5 min walk to white sand beaches was also a huge bonus as was less than 10 min drive to numerous restaurants. Beaches clean, wide, and kids enjoyed digging for treasure. When we drove, there's a free parking lots with in 5 mins as welll. The house was perfect for our stay. A master w/bath on one side of the house and 3 bedrooms on the other side with a huge family room in the middle. lots of space to spread-out. An older neighborhood, that had flat sidewalks and very little car traffic. Perhaps, the best takeaway, was working with the property manager, Rosemary. As the Mermaid house is a "mature" property, challenges are expected. Rosemary quickly responded and resolved each challenge. She was always positive and helpful. We'll stay again if we return to Miramar beach!

Family Vacation

Honest review we loved this house. I’m going to start off with the positives. First, location was perfect super close to the beach plus private pool. The master bedroom bed was so comfortable loved the mattress!!! The living room couch was super comfy. Kitchen was a good size and had most utensils needed. The bikes were super fun! Very clean house. We had the best vacation! Now for the negatives: House could use some updates, the kitchen needs some good new non stick skillets and pizza pans to cook with,kitchen could use a dish drain stopper to hand wash dishes, the golf cart which we paid for that comes with house is electric however it would not keep a charge so we ended up renting a gas powered one which was amazing, pool had lots of ants around it outside (bought some ant spray and sprayed around pool which helped), pool was dirty and net to scoop out leaves and bugs had huge rip in it so was unable to do so, they did come clean it when asked to do so, it would be nice if living room had bigger tv with Roku stick so we could utilize Netflix. All in all I would totally rent this house again. Very clean and nice home. Rosemary was very tentative when needed. We had a great time! Thank you for amazing vacation.

Beautiful beach, but very dirty house!

This house needs a deep cleaning! It’s very dirty and by dirty i mean filthy. We traveled with kids ages 3-10 and the property is just disgusting. It has a nice coastal vibe and a beautiful beach that’s located just 1min walking distance from the house, which is a game changer. The owner is older and maybe she doesn’t care about the cleanliness, but she really should invest in couple updates. The dryer requires 2 cycles to dry 6 towels, toaster is only working on 1 side, front door lock got stuck couple times (we couldn’t enter the house and had to contact the owner), bikes in the garage are old and rusty, the golf cart is veeeery old and not working at all, grill is in horrible condition, outside furniture are old and had mold all over (no furniture cushions), pool area needs a solid power washing. Inside of the house is disgusting and it made us so angry when we arrived. We stayed there for a week (8 people) and there were only 2 paper towels, 4 garbage bags, 6 rolls of toilet paper, no Windex and a tiny dish detergent. We had to buy everything ourselves which is ridiculous. The owner wanted to send a cleaning person, but the house should be cleaned before our arrival not when we needed some privacy and relaxation. I wish i could submit all the photos i took, but unfortunately it’s not an option when posting a review…Reconsider renting this property… that’s all i have to say!

Overall Great Stay

First great location so close to everything and walking distance to Captain Daves, Kenny D’S, Pompano Joes and a little further to the crab trap. The house is well laid out and rooms are good size. Very nice having a pool. The water pressure was great too in both showers. Using the remote for the gate is awesome because if you enter the subdivision from the dollar general side the keypad is on the passenger side. I would strongly suggest not bringing more than two vehicles as the driveway is very narrow and you can not block the sidewalk and parking in the garage is forbidden. We had three and had to find alternative overnight parking. We chose not to park at the Walmart and chance getting towed or to park at beach resort right by house. We found Geronimo rv park about 1.5 miles away that parking was 25 a day cash or 30 a day if you paid with card. This was nice they could accommodate a trailer or boat parking. The golf cart is very underpowered and if you pay for it they only allow you to go back and forth from the beach with it plus having to always move a car to get it out is a pain. The beach access is barely 200 yards away and to park the golf cart is by the opening to subdivision so only saving you 100ft. So not wort it. The beach access is nice they had a spot to park your wagon and water to wash the sand off. No Smoking allowed on the property. The beds are a mixed review from our group some liked and some not. Overall good stay and property management is nice.

Nice location

This house was a lot roomier than what it appears in pictures and on the outside. For the most part, it was a decent stay, I have stayed in WAY worse but I do have a couple of complaints. The golf cart had expired tags, and we paid to rent it but were unable to drive it more than once because the battery's were so corroded that my husband had to get off and push it up a hill with a line of traffic behind us. After the battery was charged all day and night, there were other golf carts zooming past us not to mention cars behind us. When we first walked in there was a lady cleaning the pool, and the pool did not appear to have been cleaned at all, there was debris everywhere, so not sure what she was even doing to the pool. Also, upon our arrival there was a cockroach so big I thought it was a beetle on the ceiling in the dining room, along with several other cockroaches we found scurrying out from underneath kitchen hand towels we picked up and out of drawers. There was also someone elses hair on our bed sheets when we pulled down the covers on our first night. We also found what appeared to be blood stains on our bed skirt, and the towels were also all stained. My dogs also kept finding left over food (not from us) under couches, and cracks between cabinets and under the fridge. The property manager was easy to get ahold of by phone call only, she did not respond to messages on here after we paid our payment. We also had no clue how to get into the house, because a gate code and house key information was not messaged to me, or on any of the paperwork, so I had to call for that.

I would rent it again - great private pool!

We enjoyed our stay here so much that I would come back. Communication with owner was great. House was clean. The house is in a quiet neighborhood, great for families. Checkout was easy breezy. If pool privacy is high on your list, you’ll get it from this pool. It’s the most private pool I’ve ever rented. I’ve read other reviews that the beds weren’t comfortable but we did not experience this in October 2022. In our party we even had 2 people with bad backs; the beds were great. We also enjoyed that there was a tv in each room - very nice when we all retired for the evening. I also read reviews that the beach access was too far and I don’t quite understand those comments - it was pretty darn close for not being right on the beach. A 5 minute walk at most. As for parking at the beach, we drove our golf cart to the public beach parking which was a hundred or so yards from the gate, then walked back to the gate (or really you can walk onto the beach from the public parking area too). You can’t park a car or golf cart “right at the private gate entrance” but that is common in beach communities. Also, inside of the private gate entrance there is a place for strollers and wagons to be parked. And bike parking inside the gate too, if you choose to ride a house-provided bike.
