The Neighborhood:

Welcome to Elizabeth, one of Charlotte’s most charming and character-filled neighborhoods. Shaded streets lined with mature trees and early 20th-century homes give the area a warm, historic atmosphere that feels both relaxed and welcoming. The neighborhood blends classic architecture with a lively local spirit, where cozy cafés, casual eateries, and small neighborhood spots create an easy rhythm of daily life. With its walkable streets and inviting residential feel, Elizabeth offers guests a comfortable place to settle in and experience one of Charlotte’s most beloved communities.

Charming Atmosphere

Charlotte’s Second Streetcar Suburb: Dating back to 1891, Elizabeth developed as Charlotte’s second streetcar suburb, growing alongside the city’s early trolley routes. That legacy still shapes the neighborhood today, where walkable streets, gentle blocks, and leafy residential lanes create a relaxed pace that feels both classic and welcoming.

A Neighborhood Rooted in Charlotte’s History: From its earliest years, Elizabeth attracted many of the city’s civic leaders and notable residents, leaving behind a beautiful collection of early 20th-century homes beneath a canopy of mature trees. The architecture and shaded streets give the neighborhood a timeless character that feels quietly elegant and deeply connected to Charlotte’s past.

A Hidden Gem with an Easy Local Rhythm: Elizabeth feels lively without ever losing its calm. Longtime residents share the streets with students from nearby campuses, while cafés, local restaurants, and neighborhood spots bring everyday energy to the area. Visitors often find themselves settling easily into the rhythm here, where morning walks, casual dining, and relaxed evenings feel like part of the neighborhood’s natural flow.

Food

Historic Dining Favorite: The Fig Tree Restaurant: One of Charlotte’s most beloved fine dining restaurants, The Fig Tree sits in a beautifully restored 1913 Craftsman home. Guests come for the refined Country European dishes, thoughtful wine pairings, and the intimate atmosphere that makes it a favorite for special dinners and memorable evenings out.

Creole Classic with Live Jazz: Cajun Queen: A longtime Charlotte institution serving rich Creole specialties in a charming historic house. Many nights feature live jazz, filling the rooms with music and giving the whole place a lively, soulful energy that locals have loved for years.

Just nearby, The Crunkleton is known for expertly crafted classic cocktails served in a warm, brick-lined bar that feels both refined and welcoming.

Neighborhood American Favorite: Catalina Kitchen & Bar: A polished but easygoing neighborhood restaurant known for well-prepared American dishes and friendly service. It’s the kind of place locals stop by for a relaxed dinner, weekend brunch, or an easy evening out.

Local Burger Spot: Bang Bang Burgers: A laid-back neighborhood favorite known for juicy handcrafted burgers and house-made toppings. Simple, satisfying, and full of flavor, it’s a go-to when you’re craving a classic burger done right.

Groceries & Essentials

Trader Joe’s: Just a short drive from the neighborhood, this beloved grocery stop is known for its unique snacks, approachable wine selection, and convenient ready-to-eat meals, making it an easy place to pick up essentials during your stay.

Pet-Friendly City Park: Romare Bearden Park: Located in the center of the action, this vibrant urban park features cascading waterfalls, public art, and a massive lawn. It’s a pet-friendly favorite for people-watching and is home to seasonal fitness classes and live music right next to the baseball stadium.

A great stay with wonderfully attentive management and hospitality!

Cannot say enough good about our experience. The managers were incredibly responsive. The place was well maintained and there were a number of little touches that made the hospitality top notch and a cut above the norm. This will be our go-to when family is in from out of town. Great location!

PLL games

We stumbled upon the gem when we were looking for hotel alternatives for a weekend of lacrosse. We certainly found a diamond. Walking distance to the venue and some fantastic restaurants as well. Beautiful weather to enjoy our walks to boot. Great Charlotte weekend!

Fun

Everything was great overall. The only thing that is different from pictures is that the chairs in front of windows in the living room area are not long lounge chairs like the ones shown in online photos.

Family Stay

RThis is a lovely treetop apartment that best accommodates adults with a beautiful living room, dining and kitchen plan. The location was perfect for easy access to Mercy Hospital, and one amenity really warmed our hearts: food and drink. Stressed about upcoming surgery and tired after travel, we stayed in and made a quick pot of spaghetti. Wine was on offer, as well, but restaurants and all of Charlotte is just minutes away. Best of all...the beds were clean and very comfortable. We certainly would choose to stay here, again. Our thanks to the hosts!

The beds and couch were so comfy! And the artwork... SO COOL! We felt so welcomed with goodies and kindness! The managers/owners were very responsive. I highly recommend this wonderful apartment!
