A True Nubble Hideaway -
Arrive to the soft hum of the ocean breeze and the welcoming sight of the home’s wrap-around deck, perfect for morning coffee or an evening spent grilling as the sun sets. The outdoor shower, tucked privately behind the house, is a quintessential beach-day luxury — rinse off sandy feet and salty smiles after hours spent by the waves.

A Gathering Space in the Trees -

Whether you’re cooking a favorite meal, sharing stories around the dining table, or lounging with a good book, this floor is designed for connection. A second full bathroom with an open ceiling design adds a touch of unique, rustic character.

Fantastic job!

My family had a great experience this year, thank you! Salt and Shine communicated clearly, answered questions promptly, gave us a helpful bag of supplies for our stay, and provided bed linens and bath towels (this was new for us; with the previous property manager we had to bring our own). A million thanks for a superb week, we will be back!

We had a wonderful stay in York, and this property's location is excellent! It’s within walking distance of the lighthouse and Dunne’s Ice Cream. The beach and York Village are also within walking distance, although probably not with all of your beach gear! That said, parking and beach access in York are so easy that getting around was never an issue.I feel bad leaving a less-than-favorable review because I understand that this is someone’s home, and it’s clear from the moment you walk in how much love and history are here. The upstairs and porch are wonderful, and the house is in excellent condition for its age.We knew going in that the property was dated, but some of the quirks weren’t fully apparent from the pictures. There was a musky smell and dark downstairs, squeaky ceiling fans, dated linens, and we found a fake nail in one of the kids’ beds. There are also quite a few reminders and warnings throughout the house about things guests should and shouldn’t do, which felt a little imposing. This is a perfectly fine property, and I can absolutely see its appeal for the right guest. It just wasn’t quite the right fit for us.

Thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback about your stay at Widow’s Walk. We’re so glad you enjoyed the home’s incredible York location, beautiful porch and upstairs spaces, and especially that you recognized the history and love that make this family home so special. We are very sorry that certain aspects of the property did not quite match what you were looking for. We also sincerely apologize for the fake nail found in one of the children’s beds. That is something that should have been caught during the turnover and inspection process, and we have addressed it with our housekeeping team. We are also following up on your comments regarding the downstairs, ceiling fans and linens with our team and the homeowners. We appreciate your mentioning the reminders throughout the home as well. Many of these have been placed at the homeowners’ request over the years to help care for and protect this historic family property. While they are intended to provide guidance rather than make guests feel restricted, we absolutely understand how multiple reminders can affect the overall feeling of a vacation stay, and we have shared that perspective with the homeowners. Widow’s Walk is a wonderfully unique, historic Maine home, and we completely understand that its character and quirks may not be the perfect match for every traveler. Salt & Shine represents a diverse collection of homes throughout Southern Maine, ranging from historic properties like Widow’s Walk to newly updated and contemporary coastal homes. We would truly love the opportunity to welcome you back and personally help match you with another Salt & Shine property that better fits what you’re looking for. A relaxing, comfortable and wonderful Maine vacation is always the experience we want our guests to have, and we would be grateful for another opportunity to provide that for you. Thank you again for staying with us and for sharing feedback that allows both our team and our homeowners to continue improving the guest experience!
