About this property
A Mystic Stay as sweet as Apple Pie!
The Charles Morgan Guest Room at the historic Denison Home is a treat to behold~ located in the hamlet of Old Mystic near the head of the Mystic River, this charming room with ensuite bath is a cozy retreat. You’ll fall in love with the amazingly comfy bed and be enchanted by the whimsical nautical mural. A romantic settee, warm colors, and a fireplace are waiting for your arrival! You’ll love all the special nautical touches lovingly set in place! We invite you to stay~ let us look after you!
My husband and I live in Mystic, a 5-minute drive from the 1784 Denison Home property. Even though you are set up for self-check-in, you may see one of us around watering plants, putting water out for guests, or turning on lights. But rest assured, we are harmless and will respect your space and privacy. If you seek answers, would like suggestions, or even meet us, we are here for you and delight in sharing this lovely little village with visitors! We are available to help make your stay a perfect one!
Built by the relatives of the original family who settled on the east side of Mystic River, the 1784 Denison Home oozes with history and character! Located in the original colonial settlement of Mystic, the 1784 Denison Home is a short ride- three miles to sightseeing and Mystic eateries.
Do you desire a day to just relax after traveling? Make a to-go lunch or grab some takeout and one of our blankets and have lunch on our lawn under the big Maple trees or relax at gazebo or picnic table in the shade.
If you enjoy walking, jogging, or biking, we have complimentary bikes available, as part of your getaway, the scenic River Road is just around the corner across the little bridge.
Ready to go out and explore? Spend a day at the Mystic Seaport Museum and immerse yourself in maritime history. See the ships and buildings that inspired our room names at the 1784 Denison Home, Carriage House, and Williams & Smith Cottage next door~ you need to board the Charles W. Morgan, the last whaleship left!
Spend a day exploring the Mystic Aquarium and make a date with one of the Beluga Whales.
Craving a beach day? Pack one of our beach bags and towels and head over to a local beach or one of Rhode Island's beaches- easily accessible with a 15-minute drive.
Rent a kayak or paddleboard and spend time exploring Mystic from the Mystic River!
Venture out to one of the wineries or breweries for an afternoon sip and taste.
Do you crave a bit of nature during your Mystic stay? Walk one of the many scenic farms nearby.
Also, Mystic is home to Clyde's Cider Mill- the oldest steam power cider mill in the U.S. This special mill draws crowds in the fall to see the steam engine in action.
Whether you need relaxation or activity, Mystic offers both!

PROPERTY TRUTHS
The Denison Home is on Main Street across from the Old Mystic Post Office. It's busy during the day but a quiet and peaceful hamlet in the evenings.
The Denison Home is down the street from the Old Mystic Fire Station, so it's possible you'll hear sirens during your stay. However, it's a comfort to know they're so close too:-)
As the 1784 Denison Home is circa 1784, the floorboards are wide and do move and creak a bit, but I think you'll appreciate how it adds to the charm and character of an antique home.
With wooden homes, sometimes doors stick and need a push or a pull, as wood naturally expands and contracts with the New England weather.
Original glass windows can be drafty in the wintertime.
