Glacier National Park Close - Spoon Lake Waterfront Retreat
WELCOME TO SPOON LAKE If you're dreaming of a WATERFRONT cozy get away w/ Glacier National Park at your 'back door' this is your place. Our home is a 3-story cabin featuring beautiful, handcrafted log details throughout. The Lower Floor VRBO apt is approx. 952 sf. & is a fully contained, separate lock-off part of the cabin & opens to a splendid view of Spoon Lake. YOUR ACCESS is down the left side of the house to the door facing the lake. You have NO ACCESS at the front door at the garage level next to the green bench.
RESERVATION OPTIONS At this time, we are only offering the Lower Floor apt as a VRBO. The top 2 floors are for owners only & we may or may not be present during your stay.
ACCESS & PARKING - When you park on the driveway at garage level, it looks like a 2-story house, but around the left side of the house there is a 3rd lower level & private access to the VRBO apt below. The entry door to the rental unit is facing the lake. Please DO NOT drive down the side or park below. You DON'T need to park in the public access on the garage side of the property but please park in driveway just off the asphalt near the fence & wagon wheels so as not to block the garage or owner parking in front of the cabin.
LOWER FLOOR VRBO APT: The inside stairway to the main house above is completely locked for your privacy. The apt unit includes a cozy sitting area around gas rock fireplace w/ a Queen sleeper sofa & new recliner, full kitchen w/ a breakfast counter, full laundry, steam shower bathroom, 1 bedroom w/ Queen bed. A folding 'Moose' can be used as a table for dining or games inside & a patio table w/ 4 chairs + a BBQ w/ propane is provided outside. Relax in the red Adirondack chairs or soothe away the day's hike in a 2-person heart-shaped Nordic Hot Tub outside your bedroom window while enjoying the birds & lake view. You will have exclusive use of the hot tub during your rental period. You will have complete privacy, so enjoy 'Suits Optional' as desired. Bathrobes are provided for your use in the bedroom closet.
MIDDLE FLOOR: (OWNERS ONLY!) This is at garage level. Your access code will not work at this front door. Your entry door is down & around on the left side of the cabin. Parking immediately outside the front door is for owners only please.
TOP FLOOR: (OWNERS ONLY!)
SPOON LAKE On the beach, there are 2 kayaks or a canoe for your use. Life jackets are hanging on the rock wall near the BBQ. PLEASE NO DIVING off the dock because it's too shallow!!! The barge w/ the trolling motor is for the OWNERS ONLY.
Spoon Lake features glacier-fed, underground springs gurgling up in the far, left end of the lake, easily explored w/ the kayaks or canoe, Listen for loons singing their eerie tune on this quiet, serene mountain-surrounded lake. Most summers, we love watching rare mating pairs of loons that nest on the far side of the lake. If they are nesting Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks set out white buoys along the far shore that asks you not to go within the space. There are only about 80 mating pairs in the entire state of Montana, so it is a treat to hear them. We occasionally see groups of 5-8 at a time. Bird lovers may also hear Pileated Woodpeckers, Stellar Jays, Northern Flickers, Robins, Mallard Ducks, Canada Geese, & sometimes Trumpeter Swans on occasion in the spring or fall. Enjoy hummingbirds & keep an eye out for those Bald Eagles & Osprey that often battle each other in the skies over the lake. Seeing them dive or swoop down into the water for a fish is an exhilarating thrill. We have seen muskrats, a few beaver sightings & once a moose cow & her calf strolled the shore to the right & swam from point to point and then the far side brushy area to the left.
If timing is right in July, huckleberries may be found on the property or nearby woods. If you're lucky, Jo may provide you w/ some fresh huckleberry muffins or the like. Enjoy the BBQ & outdoor eating options overlooking the lake. If you prefer, please enjoy eating at the picnic table & play badminton if the net is up in the 'meadow'. Enjoy a refreshing swim off the private floating dock. AGAIN, NO DIVING!!!
BEWARE We are adjacent to Glacier National Park & surrounded by the Flathead National Forest. Always be vigilant for other wild animals like bear, mountain lions, coyotes, wolves, moose & deer at all times. We recommend you hike w/ Bear Spray. We DO NOT guarantee any of the leftover cannisters you may find in the bathroom top shelf, if any. It can be rented in Apgar inside the park or at the airport and other outlets. They are not allowed on airplanes.
EXPLORING GLACIER NATIONAL PARK When you are ready to explore the vast million-acre Glacier National Park you are only 20 minutes from the West Glacier gate. Take the short cut about 1.5 mi past Lake Drive across Blankenship Bridge where the legendary North Fork & Middle Fork of the Flathead River meet. Search some of Montana's finest fishing holes & whitewater rivers, or hike Glacier Park's magnificent peaks, waterfalls & glacial valleys in God's Country. Historic Polebridge is 29 miles up the North Fork Road (Hwy 486) past Lake Drive which is also the gateway to the North Fork GNP entry. Halfway up to Polebridge, you can also access GNP at the Camas Road entry which is a backdoor entrance to Apgar Village. The full spring opening & fall closing of the Going to the Sun Road (GTTSR) varies every year depending on the park service maintenance crews snow clearing efforts.
Some kind of park pass is required to enter any part of GNP, but as of the summer of 2026, the additional GNP vehicle reservation system is no longer in effect at park entrances. VERY IMPORTANT you visit the GNP website for the most up to date information to access the park & view road conditions.

We were blown away with this property and the hospitality that the hosts showed us. The cabin was spotless and had all the amenities needed. The views of Spoon Lake everyday were breathtaking!!! Highlights for us included: views of the lake everyday, canoeing in the lake, steam shower, fully loaded kitchen, Jo's huckleberry muffins, and having a full washer/dryer available. We have stayed in quite a few properties before and this is by far the best so far. Highly recommend!!!
Thank you so much for letting us in to your house it was beautiful , we had so much fun fishing and canoeing .The lake was so relaxing and the view was amazing we loved it so much we took advantage of the porch and grilled some fish and went into the jacuzzi . Our family loved it ! P.S ( We loved the huckleberry muffins you made it was delicious !)

We absolutely LOVED staying at Spoon Lake! Ed and Jo thought of everything!! It was immaculate and the view was STUNNING! The hosts were so sweet and even made us homemade huckleberry muffins, which were divine! We’ll be staying there again!! Hopefully sooner than later! We wish we booked our entire vacation there but we were traveling to several different areas.

SO glad you loved your short stay here on Spoon Lake. Hope to see you again someday!
This property was more beautiful than the pictures express. The hosts were great communicators and very accommodating. The lake view from the living area and bed room is picturesque. We had some great luck with fishing, as the water was clear and shallow, so canoeing, paddle boarding or hanging out on the dock is ideal. The hot tub was clean and chlorinated properly. There are so many things to do at the home in the case of bad weather preventing hiking the park or to have a relaxing day. Will definitely stay here again in the future!

Glad you enjoyed your stay on Spoon Lake . You 2 are Epic Hikers & Fishers!! And Happy **th Birthday!!
The cabin and our stay was even more relaxing and peaceful than anticipated! The property is very convenient to Glacier National Park and also in a quiet low traffic area. The cabin has every convenience possibly needed plus many extras. Some of our favorites were the birds, flowers, hot tub, steam shower, kayaks, and the view! Thank you Ed and Jo for the pleasure of sharing your property!
Beautiful and tranquil, decorated so cute in cabin theme! Jo greeted us when we arrived, and showed us all we needed to know about the apartment under their home. The hot tub was hot and ready to go so we were able to enjoy a soak that evening overlooking beautiful spoon lake. The kitchen is well equipped with anything you need to cook a nice meal. There’s a little grill on the patio, but we didn’t get a chance to use that. It’s about 30 minutes to Columbia Falls and then another 30 minutes to West glacier. Overall, we had a wonderful trip.

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay. Your son wins the biggest bass catch award ever
Ed & Jo's home on Spoon Lake was the perfect rental for our Glacier National Park hiking trip. The location was approximately 30 minutes from the West Entrance of the park, which made getting to all of the best hikes very easy, now that the Going-to-the-Sun Road has been reopened. Having a hot tub and sauna to come home to after a long hike was a dream. Ed & Jo were extremely kind and generous. We would definitely stay here again

About the host
Hosted by Ed & Jo Beveridge
We are Ed & Jo Beveridge, the proud owners of this lovely Spoon Lake waterfront home since the summer 2013. We fell in love w/ the serenity & beauty of Spoon Lake + the custom log-accented home the minute we saw it.
It's our little slice of heaven on a serene lake in the Flathead National Forest just outside Glacier National Park & we would like you to enjoy it too.
I'm Ed, a 5th generation Montanan. I have spent most of my life living in or visiting Montana, especially the Flathead Valley, from wherever life has taken me. You never can get Montana out of your blood. I have been enjoying Glacier National Park like my great-grandparents, grandparents, & parents most of my life. We lived for many years on Flathead Lake through my teen years & into college. We also enjoyed Whitefish Lake for over 13 years when our kids were younger like I did as a small kid.
My wife, Jo, is a converted Minnesota gal who loves her singing loons & the mountain lakes in Montana. We have been bringing our three sons to Montana since they were little & now, they bring our grandchildren as often as possible, but we don't usually rent to VRBO guests when they are here.
Finally, our dream of retiring to Spoon Lake came true in 2020. We've been enjoying all 4 seasons now & really embrace our Spoon Lake lifestyle. We hope you enjoy your time w/ us your own apartment. We endeavor to give you all the privacy you need.
Why they chose this property
This property is 8.5 miles north of Columbia Falls, a little town between Whitefish & West Glacier. Historic & remote Polebridge is 29 miles further up the road with remote access to GNPs western slope glacial lakes. You can also access GNP from the Camas Road entry about 12 miles north of Lake Drive. The pavement ends about 3 miles past Lake Drive after the back road shortcut at the Blankenship Road turnoff to West Glacier. Everyone who has stayed at the Spoon Lake Lodge seems to spend most of their time hiking, fishing, exploring Glacier Park & all the wonderful surrounding communities & lakes. People drive all over to Many Glacier near the Canadian border & Two Medicine on the eastern side of the park. Be sure to check the annual Going to the Sun Road opening date. The date is flexible depending on snow removal efforts each spring. It is VERY IMPORTANT you visit the GNP website for general information & road conditions.
We offer you a very comfortable place w/ a spectacular, serene view & the songs of our Spoon Lake loons with all the comforts of home at the end of your day. Or just relax & take a spin in the canoe, kayaks right outside your door.
What makes this property unique
Please review carefully, as we only offer the Lower Floor apt facing the lake for your use.
The Cabin consists of 3 floors: The Top Floor, the Middle Floor & the Lower Floor apt that opens out to Spoon Lake. As noted, we only rent the Lower Floor apt which is fully contained & locked off from the top two floors. We may or may not be present during your stay.
Your cozy rental provides 2 big picture windows at the living area & bedroom. The covered patio at your front door has an outdoor table & 4 chairs, a BBQ with a splendid lake view. We provide your clean towels & linens, all ready for your arrival. You have the use of the 2 kayaks and a canoe. The floating barge w/ trolling motor attached to the dock is only for the OWNERS ONLY. Spoon Lake is a 'no wake' 60-acre lake, so it's usually very quiet. Enjoy a romantic & relaxing 'suits optional' spa in our Nordic Hot Tub right outside your bedroom window below the upper deck. It is for your exclusive private use while you are here. We will maintain the water chemistry when you are absent. Feel free to forage for huckleberries if you feel lucky.
Our cleaning service takes care of all bedding & linen washing & general cleaning when you leave. You may leave any unused items in the refrigerator. If anything, it would help if you turn on the dishwasher. There is no garbage service in this rural area. A bear-proof garbage can is provided for your use. Please make sure it is secure. If we aren't here to take care of your garbage disposal & you are collecting too much you will need to take it to the Columbia Falls waste collection center at 1073 Best Way, Columbia Falls, MT 59912 or a bin somewhere on your adventures. Otherwise, our cleaning service will dispose of it upon your departure.
