Property was wonderful, very quiet location, awesome view. We use vacation rentals a lot and this one was the cleanest and owner gave thought to what we needed to be comfortable. I can highly recommend this property.
We had the most wonderful stay at this cabin! It is nestled beautifully in the landscape with an AMAZING view! Our family of 5 was very comfortable. The property manager could not have been better and the cabin was perfectly clean - it felt brand new! Highly recommend this rental!
We were blown away by how nice and comfortable The Twin Puffins cabin was. Exceeded any place we other VRBO we have stayed at. Had the opportunity to meet Carlton, the owner, and truly enjoyed getting to know him.
Beautiful views of the glaciers and bay!
My family has found our home away from home.
Could not ask for nicer people.
Twin Puffins has a wonderful deck with the most amazing view of the bay, mountains, and glaciers! Every detail has been thought of in this cabin! Games, list of local activities, condiment s, tea/coffee, soap…etc. Location is perfect - with town a few minutes away. Can’t wait to stay here again!!
We've rented quite a few places and this was the best! The view, the location, the deck, the privacy, and the cleanliness! It is also the little things that made it so great. We have never stayed at a place with so many condiments or with a grill that was spotless and ready to use. We hope to come back and highly recommend it to all.
Wonderful cabin located on the eastern side of Homer. Excellent view of the bay and Homer Spit. Surrounded by nature, yet only a few minutes from town, restaurants, coffee shops and Safeway. The cabin has everything for your stay and is immaculate. Owners are very easy to work with and responsive. I can’t recommend enough!

Beautiful home with beautiful view
I would love to give it a 4.8 rating if I could because the house was perfect for the 3 of us to stay. Only a couple of minor issues: water pressure was low and there was no cutting board in the kitchen. The owner was very nice and accommodating. The home was close to all attractions and very easy to find from the main road. Very quiet and peaceful.

When I received your rating/review, I immediately checked on the cutting board, and located it where it normally is - although it is white, which is the same color as the cabinet it resides in. We always provide our phone number for any questions (it's not a bother), which would have quickly resolved that issue. I will try to find a better way to make it more obvious, so as to leave no doubt for future guests.
As to the water pressure being "low," I'm having to assume it was in reference to pressure at the shower head(s). It's not that the water line pressure is low, per se, but we changed our shower heads to ones that flow 1.5 g/p/m in an effort to conserve our precious water. I will, however, do more research to see if there might be a shower head that offers more settings to accommodate personal preference (high or low pressure) while maintaining low water usage.
Thank you,
Twin Puffins Management
We traveled all over Alaska and the Twin Puffins was definitely our favorite place to stay. It was immaculately maintained with all the amenities of home. A beautiful place to just hang out and take in the amazing views! The plants surrounding the cabin were beautiful. We were close enough to the activities we had planned to do but far enough away to feel like we were in a private, secluded location. Thank you for the fresh raspberry jam. It was delicious! We would definitely recommend staying at the Twin Puffins during your Alaska visit!
Twin Puffins is an extraordinary place! It is located on a beautiful hillside. The property is well maintained and manicured. It has easy access off the main road. It is exceptionally clean with some awesome decor. It has all the amenities than some homes. The view from the kitchen/den/deck area is breathtaking. It is surrounded by green vegetation and a pond below. The surrounding area has ample opportunities for various outdoor activities. I would highly recommend Twin Puffins in your next travels.
Our six nights at Twin Puffin were perfect. The weather was cool and cloudy, which was great for our hiking in the area. There are so many wonderful trails in the area. The cabin’s set up was great. Two bedrooms with king beds and two baths. The best feature though was the large deck, with Grand, unobstructed views of the bay and mountain range. Wow!!! The kitchen is large with a table for 6, which is open to the living area. Both areas look out to that marvelous view!
I can’t say enough about this property. Very clean. Everything worked. Gorgeous cabin. Fantastic view. Peaceful. Modern. Ample deck space. The list goes on and on. We absolutely LOVED it here. Not too far outside of Homer - just a few minutes drive - I wish we could have stayed longer. Hope to come back one day and stay again at this wonderful property. Worth every penny.
Simply amazzzzzzing...just the two of us...we shopped, hiked, explored, ate, drank, relaxed, and just plain enjoyed the unbelievable view. Even saw a black bear in the back yard. Only regret is having to leave and return to reality! We will be back!
Many thanks for sharing your beautiful, perfectly located, well equipped, comfortable home...and the raspberries were realllllly good as well!
Take care!

Thank you for your comments. Regarding the limited number of t.v. channels you found may have been that the guide was set on HD subscription channels. There are 3 settings: all subscription channels, all HD channels, and a "favorites" channels (subscription minus all the shopping-type channels). I will be sure add the guide features to the t.v. instructions we have in the cabin for our future guests.
The Twin Puffins Management
The hosts are the best!!! They welcomed us with super friendly and informational text messages, and responded quickly to our messages. The cabin was in immaculate condition and beautiful designed and decorated. A log cabin with all the modern conveniences of home. It overlooks pine trees and the Kachemak bay with the Kenai mountain range behind it... a beautiful view that changed with the movement of the sun! The seven mile drive out of Homer was great for seeing moose. We saw a bull and a cow with two calves. It was great for photos!
This is the perfect little getaway for two couples. Fantastic views, great little home, comfortable beds, easy access to amenities and activities yet with privacy. The building feels brand new, the small kitchen is well equipped. Margie is already planning a return visit with her family.

About the host
Hosted by Janet Erikson Papinaw
The Twin Puffins is co-0wned by the eight Erikson siblings, who together form Erikson Heritage, LLC. While the majority of the siblings have established residences outside of Alaska, several remain in the state year-round. This diverse arrangement allows for both remote and on-site management in the property's operations. Some siblings manage the short-term rental property remotely, traveling to Alaska as needed, particularly during the peak rental season to provide on-site oversight. This flexible approach has enabled effective management despite the geographic dispersion of the owners. Beginning with the 2026 season, Janet -who is the sixth of eight siblings, was born in Seldovia (across Kachemak Bay) alongside her twin brother- will take over the management responsibilities for The Twin Puffins. Her leadership will guide the property's operations for the forseeable future.
Why they chose this property
The site for the The Twin Puffins was carefully selected to maximize the natural beauty of its surroundings and ensure an exceptional experience for visitors. Its placement offers stunning views of Kachemak Bay, Kenai Mountains and the Harding Ice Fields. The location is designed to provide a sense of seclusion without feeling isolated. The wide open surroundings offer privacy, yet the property remains conveniently close to Homer, providing a wide variety of activities for the entire family.
What makes this property unique
The Erikson family has a rich history rooted in their homestead property, which has been part of their legacy for nearly a century. In 2003, the Erikson children inherited the homestead, ensuring its continued place within the family. Recognizing the importance of maintaining this connection, they took a significant step in 2006 by constructing the Twin Puffins Vacation Rental Cabin on the property. This venture was created specifically to help preserve the homestead for future generations. The Erikson family ties to Alaska runs deep, with an impressive 95 years of continual residency in the State. This endurance presence highlights their longstanding commitment to the land and their community, making the homestead not just a family property, but a testament to their Alaskan heritage.
