About the host
Hosted by Peter Jeffery and Margaret Jeffery
This home abuts forested hillside with trails that lead to Douglas Mountain and Coyle, with expansive views west to Mount Washington, east over Sebago Lake, and north to the far horizon. A blueberry field is out the back door, for easy picking before you make your blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Sebago Lake, Hancock Pond, Saco River and Peabody Pond are each a short drive away, ready to launch your canoe or kayak. Antiquing in Cornish and exploring the other quaint towns of western Maine provide hours of fun.
Why they chose this property
My husband and I are the third generation owning this property. My grandparents purchased it in the 1950's, and they, and then my parents, rented it for years. Previously, the Dykes owned the property from 1800 until the 1930s, when it was sold with the surrounding forestland to a lumber company.
What makes this property unique
This property originated as the annex to the inn across the country road. It is now on the National Registry of Historic Places, and has been comfortably and tastefully restored.
