This home is a perfect location for Bicycling pie loving individuals. With lovely wildlife of owls, dear, and horses on the property. All in view from a relaxing porch swing. A very fun location.
We really wanted to love this place, part of a birthday gift vacation to our two adult daughters. However, by 2am, 4 hours after our arrival, we determined we had to pack up everything to drive an additional 2 hours to get to a hotel with sufficient refrigerator space (because the VRBO fridge was at 60 degrees; hundreds of dollars of food supplies were in danger of spoilage and were eventually lost). Also, the strong odor of mildew was so strong our adult daughters were having an allergic reaction of headaches and nausea. We couldn’t stay any longer. In addition, we had to throw away a used, slightly bloodied flossing pick left on the kitchen counter and the thermostat was unresponsive after 2 hours to get below 75 degrees or decrease the high humidity. We were thankful when the host apologized, admitting that the flossing stick must have been hers. She agreed to give us a refund for the 5 days we had booked. But hours later she sent another message, refusing the refund and called us liars who probably lie to lots of people.I don’t know which is worse, losing our vacation and all the money we invested in it, or being accused of lying (although we have photos showing mildew, the refrigerator thermometer and stained furniture). I can’t explain her changed story. All I know is we have a 5-star guest rating and if we were trying to defraud her, we chose a very painful and ineffective way to do it.
We live in a busy city and appreciated the quiet surroundings. Unfortunately the clock in the living room chimes every 15 minutes. When we're on vacation we appreciate not knowing the time as we had no schedule. We found the clock disruptive and affected our sleep. The owner likes antiques. The dresser in the main bedroom has a musty, old smell and I had some issues with my asthma. We should have brought our own towels. The ones provided were old and only 2 bath towels and not enough wash cloths for a 5 day stay. We had to find areas to hang the towels to dry to be used again.
