About the host
Hosted by Brandon Jones
Hi, we’re a family from Charlotte, North Carolina — my wife, our three kids, our dog, and me — and we absolutely LOVE the mountains! It’s less than a three-hour drive from Charlotte to Maggie Valley and Waynesville, and we make the trip every chance we get. If there’s a long weekend or a teacher workday, you can bet we’re packing up the car and heading for the hills — no matter the season.
The Maggie Valley / Waynesville area truly has it all for anyone who loves the outdoors — endless hiking trails, breathtaking waterfalls, snow and river tubing, rafting, fishing, playing in the creeks, snowboarding, skiing, apple picking, and so much more. Our family thrives on being outside and surrounded by nature, and that love is what inspired us to share these mountain homes with others.
I personally manage all of our listings, bookings, and guest communication to make sure every stay is seamless and memorable. Whether you have a question, need a recommendation, or run into an issue, I’m always available — by phone, text, or email — to help make your trip amazing.
We truly hope you enjoy your time in the mountains as much as we do!

Why they chose this property
Tucked away at the top of Hemphill Road in beautiful Waynesville, Settlers Ridge is a hidden gem that perfectly blends mountain tranquility with upscale comfort. This gated community offers a peaceful escape surrounded by nature, with homes thoughtfully spaced apart for maximum privacy and serenity.
Just minutes from The Swag and Cataloochee Ranch, you’ll be right next to two of the area’s most iconic mountain destinations. Guests love taking a stroll to the top of the neighborhood, where you’re almost guaranteed to spot local wildlife — from deer grazing in the meadows to wild turkeys wandering through the woods.
Up here, the air is crisp and cool — it’s usually about 10 degrees cooler than down in town — and the sweeping mountain views are absolutely breathtaking. Some neighbors live here full-time while others visit seasonally, but everyone shares an appreciation for the peaceful, natural beauty of the ridge.
Whether you’re sipping coffee on the deck, watching the sunset paint the mountains, or exploring the nearby trails, Settlers Ridge is the perfect mountain retreat — quiet, scenic, and truly special.

What makes this property unique
This home is truly a dream come to life — one that we imagined, designed, and built from the ground up.
During the COVID years, our family would take daily walks through these mountains to get fresh air and clear our minds. One day, we stumbled upon this piece of land and instantly fell in love with it — the views, the peace, the feeling of being completely surrounded by nature. From that moment on, I knew we had to make it ours.
We started small, clearing and grading the land, slowly shaping it into something special. To get the perfect homesite with the best view and orientation, I even purchased a few hundred additional feet of the bordering property — and that made all the difference.
After nearly a year of planning and designing, we created a layout that brings the outdoors in, with large windows framing mountain views from every angle. Every detail, from the positioning of the home to the flow of each room, was thoughtfully designed with one goal in mind: to make this the ultimate mountain escape.
Today, we still pinch ourselves every time we arrive. It’s a home built with heart, and we’re so excited to share it with others who love the mountains as much as we do.
