Washington Island, Large 4 Bedroom Home w/window A/C units
Your relaxing getaway awaits you on Washington Island! With four bedrooms that sleep nine guests you will find plenty of space to relax. Two bathrooms offer a shower and a shower/bathtub, making it easy to refresh after a day of exploring. The home includes thoughtful touches like linens, towels and new quilts on the newer comfy mattresses. Each bedroom has an island theme for the decor and bedding. The downstairs bedroom with the crib is next to the kitchen. This room is decorated with a Jackson Harbor/fishing theme. The three upstairs bedrooms are decorated as The Lavender Room, Schoolhouse Beach Room and Ferry Boat Room. Whether you're gathering for a quiet night in (game cabinet stocked) or planning your next adventure, this quaint house provides a phenomenal base for your stay. Walk to the popular Albatross for ice cream or a burger. The Red Cup Coffee shop is also within walking distance for that morning coffee or latte. Come enjoy the island and the great space available with this large family home. SORRY NO PETS ALLOWED. Fans are provided throughout the home. There are box fans for the windows in each bedroom and three for the downstairs main areas of the house as well as ceiling fans. WINDOW A/C UNITS ARE AVAILABLE FOR USE IF IT IS TOO UNCOMFORTABLE TO HAVE THE WINDOWS OPEN. Please do not try to lift the window with a unit in it as they are not secured to the windows and are held in place by a wood wedge at the top of each window. (We didn't want to put permanent holes in the windows to secure them). Please keep all windows and doors closed if you are using the window A/C units for utility efficiency. If you want to use them in the bedrooms only then please keep the bedroom doors closed if you are opening windows in the main area of the house. We added this feature this summer because it does tend to get unbearable if the weather gets into the 80's-90's so that you can be comfortable. Please follow the guidelines above to keep the utility bills reasonable for us.

This was a lovely place for our large family group. The home was light and bright, with a wonderful cross breeze and beautiful birdsong throughout the day. The open living and dining area gave us plenty of room to eat together, relax, and catch up comfortably. Check in and check out were both simple and easy. We really enjoyed our stay.

About the host
Hosted by Kathy Jepsen
As the hosts of Jepsen's Island House, Bob and Kathy Jepsen, we would like to welcome you to our island home. Bob's family has roots on Washington Island and we always dreamed of owning an island home "someday" when we were just a young couple with 5 children vacationing on the island. Now that we are empty nesters our "someday" has become a reality. Both sets of Bob's grandparents lived on the island and his parents were both raised on the island. His maternal grandparents were Harold and Arbutus Greenfeldt. Harold was a commercial fisherman by trade and Arbutus served as the town mayor for a number of years. You will see pictures of his grandfather in the Jackson Harbor/fishing bedroom as well as on the wall at Jackson Harbor Soup restaurant as that building is where he used to work on fishing nets. Bob's paternal grandparents were Marvin and Gudrun Jepsen. His parents were Bob and Susan Jepsen. The only remaining family on the island full time are his aunt and uncle, Jim and Marsha Gunnlaugsson. We hope you enjoy your stay and all the sights and sounds of the island while you are making memories with your family and friends.
Why they chose this property
There is so much to see of the island: The Lavender Farm, Jackson Harbor, museums, Schoolhouse Beach, Ferry boats, and even beyond the main island by ferry to Rock Island State Park.
What makes this property unique
Our large family style home, with lots of space to enjoy your stay, is my favorite part of our island destination. With a large family it was always difficult to stay in traditional hotel/motel rooms as most do not accomodate a family with 5 children. Having a large home to spread out makes a huge difference in the quality of a vacation. Whether you are vacationing with your own family or families or a gathering of friends we hope you will enjoy the home as much as we do.
