Getting Around:
Guests will need to make sure they have their own vehicle. Summer months are fine with a small car but four wheel drive is a must in the winter!
Other Things to Note:
What to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling? A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!

11 in our group. House was very clean. Beds soft. Hot tub well maintained. Had lots of pans/griddles for cooking meals - which was nice as you are a bit out from restaurants in town. Appreciated large supply of beach towels - for hot tub and lake. Appreciated toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soap, bathroom soap. Loved that kitchen had things like Pam, ziplocs, and sal/pepper. Beat stocked kitchen of the many VRBOs we have stayed in. Wi-fi works on main floor (not others). Hot upstairs & widows don’t open. Can open doors on upper decks and use fans provided (thank you!!) - but sun/birds wake up early & still warm for sleeping.
We booked this home for a family reunion. 12 of us slept comfortably with plenty of room to spare. The house had "all the things" and we were not disappointed. Love the location. It's in close proximity to the West entrance of Yellowstone and it's just a walk to the lake. Beautiful!!

Arrived in a full thunderstorm, we absolutely loved it! Beautiful home with amazing views and wildlife. Enjoyed the outdoor furniture when the rain stopped, it really only rained one of the 6 nights we were there. Beautifully stocked kitchen and plenty of towels for the jacuzzi. Will certainly stay again, very spacious.
Our stay included everything we needed while at the house. We had 19 people and there was plenty of space. 4 bathrooms were more than sufficient. The home was centrally located to accommodate zip lining, 4 wheeling, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, whitewater rafting and more...!!!
We have a large family and it was a delight to be together. We travel to Yellowstone for adventure. The accommodations we delightful and fun!! Thanks

Great Location
19 of us stayed here for the 4th of July weekend. The cabin is nice and is located on the second row back from the water. It has great proximity to the private beach and boat ramp. The kids really enjoyed the ping pong table and playing in the yard. The contact folks for the rental were amazingly responsive and super helpful and answered phone calls even late into the evening. The linens were all clean and tidy.
There were only a few things that put some mild dampers on the awesome weekend. There were quiet a few spiders in the cabin, we killed at least 2 dozen as a group, we even had one drop from someone’s toothpaste tube when they picked it up after leaving it the bathroom over night. The interior walls don’t seem to have insulation in them as you can hear folks in the other bedrooms very clearly. The beds were pretty firm, although not the worst beds we’ve slept on, but definitely on the firm side. The biggest thing that was a downer was there was no bath soap, shampoo or conditioner provided and the hand soap that was provided was watered down seemingly intentionally. This is the first HomeAway rental we’ve stayed in that didn’t provide bath soap. There were also some doors that didn’t seem to function properly that wouldn’t open or shut well after opening. The screens on the doors had holes and tears in them defeating their purpose and would allow some mosquitoes in. It also seemed that one of the bedrooms in the basement had ducting that was connected directly to the bathroom as odors would waft from the bathroom into the bedroom. There also seemed to be a few improvement projects going on while we were there as there was blue painters tape around the front door and an A-frame ladder in the middle of the deck off the master suite.
Other than those few minor things it was a great weekend with memories that will last a lifetime!
The cabin had mostly what we needed for a great stay. We had lots of earwigs, more marshmellow sticks are needed and beachtowels would have been nice. Beds were comfy, bathrooms where great and kitchen equipped. We enjoyed the big table.. Glad we didn't have to use the stacked twin mattresses. Descriptions of how to use the trashcans would have helped we eventually figured the. it out and how to engage the wifi too both we not intuitive. Managemnet responded with quick text message which was appreciated. The horse ranch and river float were great close adventures.

Thank you for leaving your feedback. We don't usually provide beach towels but that could be something we would consider for the future. We weren't aware of the earwigs but being close to the water little critters can show up. We're glad that you enjoyed the property and hope you can come back again!
The home is very nice. We already have a cabin in Island Park but is not able to accommodate boats and cars. Therefore we rented this home. It is beautiful to look at, stay in and to look out from. It was very nice to have extra single bed mattresses for the grandchildren to sleep on. We spent a lot of time with water activities. We had two serious ski and surf boats. Also paddle boards and kayaks worked well on the reservoir. We staged off the beach area provided by the development area. The description on VRBO sounded like it was just across the street. It was more like 1/2 mile. We did not traveling away from the home and it was comfortable for indoor and outdoor activities. We used the fire pit at nights and it was great. There was plenty of parking space for the vehicles and boats to park each night. The list of check out was conflicting, with one saying towels needed to all be washed and dried before leaving. Impossible with the 10 am time. The list on the refridgerator matched what the rental person told us. Towells in the laundry room and beds stripped with used linen on the foot of the beds. Things went smoothly that way. We recommend this home for those needing a larger place. We would rent it again.
Longhorn revitalized our summer vacation. As our grandchildren have grown we needed additional space and this place was perfect. Plenty of great wide open space and views are spectacular.

Yellowstone Family Vacation
Our family loved our Yellowstone vacation and our stay at Longhorn Lodge. The views out every window were spectacular and ever changing. I had to constantly go outside to take photos at sunset because the light kept changing over the lake on one side and mountains on the other and the views got more beautiful by the minute. The lodge was beautifully furnished and we had everything we needed for our extended family. The adults loved gathering around the large dining table and the cousins all sleep together downstairs and enjoyed playing ping pong, foosball or gaming and were able to run in and out the doors to the outside where they were able to run wild all around the lodge. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed to prepare simple meals for our large family. The refrigerator and freezer were large enough to accommodate all of our food. The lodge was 45 min. drive to the entrance to Yellowstone and then a bit of a drive to all the sights but the scenery was beautiful and all felt the drive time was worth it to be able to come home to Longhorn Lodge. We alternated going into the park with staying close to home visiting West Yellowstone one day where we shopped and had lunch and spending the day at Eagle Ridge Ranch which is just down the road. We went horseback riding and then spent the rest of the day at Eagle Ridge Ranch swimming in the swimming hole (not kidding), jumping off the water trampoline into the water, swinging into the water from a rope, riding boats, paddle boards etc. and afterwards having a delicious Dutch oven cookout that started off with crazy good fry bread which the locals called scones. Topped off the evening with playing horseshoes and strolling into the meadow as the sun was getting low in the sky and watching and gently petting the horses as they grazed after their hard day on the trail. Made it back to the lodge in time to watch the sunset from the deck. We had a wonderful vacation and loved Longhorn Lodge and would stay again. Thank you to management for quick response to all texts.

A Piece of Heaven
We held our staff retreat at the lodge in October of 2016, what a great experience. The lodge was awesome and the view fantastic. All of our kitchen needs were already there, and with eight women that was an accomplishment. The lodge was perfect for our needs, it allowed fun, much laughter, comfortable beds, lots of space, and felt like home. We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed every second. Staff is already planning next years retreat at the lodge. Thanks for sharing your beautiful lodge with us, we will return!

Longhorn Lodge Had it All
What a beautiful lodge! The nearly new construction was carefully thought out to be both comfortable and convenient, and the furnishings are top of the line. The double oven range, microwave, and French door refrigerator with extra large bottom freezer made food preparation for our large famiy group very easy. The landscaping is still in progress but will further enhance our future stays here! It was so convenient to visit Yellowtone Park, Mesa Falls, and Quake Lake without having to change our overnight accomodations even once! Some of us went sightseeing while others chose to waterski, fish, hike, or go 4-wheeling. We were here with children and grandchildren, but will definitely be coming back with our siblings and with friends!

Absolutely Gorgeous!
Everything in this cabin was beautiful from the spacious family areas to the tiny details. A lot of love was put into this place and it shows. The kitchen was stocked with absolutely everything you would ever need and more. The location can't be beat. Gated area, right by the water, lots of snowmobile trails, next to horse rental ranch, ice skating pond and great ice fishing. I will definitely be coming back!
