About this property
Hidden Hiker Oasis at Forest Park *Hot Tub*Pets OK
Hiking Trails*Hot Tub*Boutique Cafes and Close to Pearl*No pet fee for Dogs. Just minutes from downtown Portland and the Pearl, Hidden Hiker at Forest Park is a private upscale retreat tucked beneath a canopy of 300-year-old Douglas firs in Portland’s West Hills. Bordering the vast trails and protected wilderness of Forest Park, this peaceful forest setting offers sweeping valley and Coast Range views and the feeling of a secluded mountain cabin—yet you’re only minutes from downtown Portland, NW 23rd, the Pearl District, and some of the city’s most beloved restaurants, breweries, and cafés. Whether you're planning a restorative getaway, a remote work escape, or a quiet base for exploring Portland’s outdoors and culture, the Hideaway invites you to unwind, recharge, and experience the city from above it all.
Guests have direct access to the nearby Wildwood Trail system and are perfectly positioned for hiking, trail running, bird watching, and scenic drives through Portland’s iconic West Hills. Popular nearby destinations include Pittock Mansion, Washington Park, the International Rose Test Garden, and the shops and dining along Northwest 23rd Avenue. Despite the wooded seclusion, you remain conveniently connected to everything Portland has to offer.
Inside, the main living and dining area is lined with cedar milled from the property in the 1970s, blending natural character with a mid-century vibe and updated for comfort and functionality. Two large leather sofas and a TV create a cozy setting for relaxing after a day out, while the spacious dining area features a rustic farmhouse table ideal for meals, games, or spreading out with a laptop.
Well suited for remote work or an extended stay, the Hideaway includes a fully outfitted workspace with a desk, ergonomic chair, extra monitor, and office supplies, with printer access available upon request. The generous dining table in the main living area also serves as an additional work surface when needed.
The bedroom offers a queen bed, clothes storage, and a distinctive tribal/primitive art motif, creating a comfortable and restful retreat. The full bathroom includes a tub/shower combination.
The kitchenette features reclaimed wood countertops and stainless appliances, including a full refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave.
Step outside to your private deck, where a café table and chairs, bench seating, and a wooden swing (available during the summer) provide space to linger and take in the forested surroundings. A large hot tub reserved exclusively for Hideaway guests is located on the deck just outside the apartment door, offering a relaxing soak beneath the trees.
Access to the apartment requires following a path and stone stairs around the house and down the hill to the lower level entrance. Guests have full and sole access to the apartment and all designated guest areas. This rental is a private apartment.
The owners strive to care for the property and surrounding environment through sustainable practices, including recycling and composting and using environmentally responsible plant and pest control products.
