About this property
Cozy dog friendly cabin w/large deck, original rock fireplace & loft bedroom
Time will slow down when you escape to this 1940s cabin tucked among towering pines in the heart of Idyllwild — a true retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Original knotty pine walls and ceilings wrap the cabin in warmth, while a stunning river rock wood-burning fireplace anchors cozy evenings with loved ones. Step outside onto the wraparound redwood deck — reachable from both the living area and a back door off the kitchen — and soak in serene mountain views over morning coffee or under a blanket of stars. This home does not include a television, offering a welcome invitation to disconnect and simply be present.
Upstairs, the lofted second floor holds two rustic log-frame beds in a truly one-of-a-kind sleeping arrangement, accommodating up to four guests via a set of steep, narrow stairs. This cabin is perfect for couples seeking a romantic getaway, groups of adults, or families with older children (teens are welcome, though it's not a fit for young kids) — and it doubles as an inspiring retreat for writers and artists chasing their muse in nature.
Conveniently set on a half-acre lot, the cabin is just a short, quiet walk from the Mile High Café and the village center, with hiking trails, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing all close by. Guests consistently rave about how peaceful and tucked-away it feels despite being so close to town. The kitchen is fully equipped, the shelves are stocked with books and board games for evenings by the fire, and one well-behaved dog is welcome to come along (up to 60 lbs). Whether you're seeking adventure or a peaceful escape, this historic cabin in Idyllwild is the perfect destination. Book your stay and immerse yourself in the beauty of the mountains.

I believe the written overview stated two queen beds. It seems that they are full size beds not queen beds. Also the beds are very soft.

We sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding the beds. You are correct that the loft contains full-size beds, and we will update the listing accordingly. We understand bed comfort is important and will discuss options with the homeowner, though larger beds may not fit in the loft. Thank you for your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again.

Eclectic, old, historic. Loved every minute of our stay
This Rustic little Cabin in the woods is exactly what we needed. Loved the escape from the city, having WIFI was nice and kept us entertained between the board games and laughing and having fun. We will definitely be back!
I loved this little cabin tucked away. Was a very easy checkin process and overall great cleanliness. Would definitely recommend it for a quick little getaway by yourself or a small group of 4. Overall a really good experience for me.

Thanksgiving Getaway
This cabin was perfect! We stayed for the Thanksgiving holiday and it was an awesome experience. We were able to warm up by the fireplace and visit the local tree lighting ceremony. The cabin had a nice thanksgiving gift package for us when we arrived. Check in was easy and the cabin had everything we needed. Would definitely visit again.

Old tiny wooden cabin!
We loved the real experience of a wooden cabin in the woods. However, there were some issues with our stay, the stairs are really steep, not kids friendly.

Nice, but cramped.
The cabin is well built, very beautiful and has the essentials. However you will need to mind your head and the spaces are pretty tight.

Great Cabin
Very quiet area of town, super clean cabin. Make sure you have plenty of wood for the fireplace if you’re staying in the winter. The gas heat only warms enough to keep the pipes from freezing.
We loved our overnight stay here! It's a simple, charming, mountain classic that looks like it hasn't changed in decades -- which I love. Really enjoyed using the fireplace (it got down in the 40s at night, even in September)! Super-convenient to town and gave us the mountain vibes we needed for this last-minute visit to Idyllwild.
This is a great little cabin with lots of deck space. Very clean, comfortable, and located close to town. Bring some camp chairs for outdoor seating and something to make coffee with. Other than that it has everything you need.

Serenity Now
Second time visiting Walden in the Woods. Being able to grab a quick bite at a nearby diner with friendly staff, go for a quick hike in the snow, and read by a fireplace is a great way to unwind. Idyllwild has a lot of places to explore and already looking forward to the next trip!

Wonderful setting in the woods
Great small cabin in the woods with a great back deck. Only negative was the undersized refrigerator.
Very Satisfied, Rustic, Peaceful, Quiet and RELAXING
We all enjoyed the property. My only negative was it is about a 0.7 mi walk (15 minutes) to the main part of town but the Mile High Cafe is a few blocks. BUT, being a little further away also made it very quiet. Cute place and seemed well maintained.
