Just minutes from Fredericksburg’s storied battlefields, historic Culpeper, Lake of the Woods, and charming Orange, yet still within driving distance to Washington DC, Richmond, and Charlottesville. Wise Acres is the perfect blend of serene country escape and easy access to history and culture. Enjoy all this 3-story cabin has to offer. The space stays comfortable year-round with heating and AC. Whether you’re relaxing indoors or exploring outdoors, this gorgeous cabin provides seclusion but not isolation! We look forward to hosting you at our place.

The cabin has three full baths and three sleeping areas: an en-suite primary with a queen bed, a loft with three twin beds (2 antique four-posters, 1 trundle) and great views, and a basement queen with a separate entrance and access to a full bath. Ample parking and an EV charger.

The logs provide great insulation, but zoned AC and heating let you set the perfect temperature. A wood stove provides additional heat and ambiance.

There are great views from every window, and a large covered porch is the perfect place to sit with a cup of coffee in the morning or glass of wine at night. A picnic table And fire pit are available. Charge your car with the EV car charger that is tied to the bank of solar panels that covers most of the cabin’s power needs year round. The property has a quaint cemetery that splits the distance between the modern cabin a farmhouse that was built c. 1860.

Our family has travelled the world staying in VRBO rentals. We love having an home away from home. Now we get to share that same experience as hosts. The cabin was purpose-built as a home for a retired musician. For more than 20 years, he taught, repaired, sold, and repaired accordions in his downstairs workshop and music room. Upstairs he and his wife welcomed visitors from around the world. We want to continue that tradition of hospitality. The cabin is full of wonderful memories of family celebrations, impromptu concerts, weddings, anniversaries, and children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We genuinely hope you make your own memories. No matter the season, the cabin welcomes you.

Burr Hill is really just a crossroads of Racoon Ford and Burr Hill Road. But it is perfectly positioned to be within driving range of everything Virginia has to offer. The property was originally purchased because it was away from the city, but still close enough to enjoy nearly every weekend. It offers a bit of quiet seclusion without being isolated. The surrounding area is developing rapidly, which means more options for dining and entertainment.

What makes this property unique

Wise Acres shares 14 acres of woods and fields and is bordered by Black Walnut Run, with protected wetland beyond that. Wildlife abounds in the wood and wetland, and we have frequent visits from raccoons, possums, deer, wild turkey, song birds, beaver, and very occasionally black bear.

There is an also lot of history surrounding the region, including the early days when Virginia was a colony. A cemetery on the property includes family names that date back to the 1700s.
