We had a wonderful stay at this VRBO for the weekend while attending our niece’s wedding. The house was beautiful, exceptionally clean, and had so many thoughtful little touches that made us feel right at home. Everything was well organized, comfortable, and exactly as described. The host was fantastic—friendly, responsive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay during such a special family weekend, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming home away from home. We enjoyed coffee on the porch swing each morning!

My husband and I loved this rental house! It had beautiful furnishings and very comfortable beds! The sheets on the master bed were like sleeping in melted buttah! I actually ordered a set for my home. Emily was a lovely host and replied promptly to my messages. The house was FULLY stocked with everything we needed including extra touches like cold bottled water, cooled wine and freshly baked cookies. We’ve stayed in rental houses across the world and this stay exceeded our expectations!

Emily grew up in Mount Vernon and met her husband, Josh, at Wheaton College outside Chicago. Since Josh is originally from Florida, we spend part of our time there and are happy to share our home with guests while we're away.

What makes this property unique

Mount Vernon is a special place to me, as my family has deep roots here on both sides. Many of my ancestors are from Mount Vernon, making me an eighth-generation local on my mom’s side and fourth-generation on my dad’s.

As a fun detail, the name “Hillview” comes from my grandparents’ farm (see if you can find the hand painted plate depicting the farm during your stay!).
