Decker House is a 2024 contemporary barnhouse designed around quiet, views, and a slower kind of stay.
The heart of the house is the great room: a double-height, cathedral-ceilinged space where the kitchen, dining area, lounge, gas stove fireplace, and ridge views all gather into one open volume. It is the kind of room that changes with the light, from coffee in the morning to firelit evenings after dark.
The kitchen is warm, minimal, and highly usable, with light oak cabinetry, blackened concrete counters, a gas range, pantry basics, espresso setup, cast iron, an enameled Dutch oven, coupe glasses, linen napkins, and the tools you actually want when settling in for a weekend.
The home sleeps six across three bedrooms: two kings and one queen. The primary suite is a quiet ground-floor retreat with direct access toward the private sauna ritual. Bedding is layered with European linens, blackout blinds, down and alternative pillows, robes, bath towels, and hand towels. Two bathrooms serve the house with a clean, spa-minded feel.
Upstairs, the loft is not a spare bedroom or game room. It is a slow space: a reading, writing, music, and stargazing perch overlooking the great room, with a desk, monitor, records, books, and a telescope positioned for the dark Western Catskills sky.
Outside, 16 private acres open into meadow, forest, ridges, and big sky. Guests have the deck, patio, cedar-housed infrared sauna, fire pit, and land to themselves, with one distant neighbor off to the side. Sonos, fiber internet, streaming, and a 75-inch TV are here when wanted, but the real amenity is the stillness.
