About this property

The Granary Flat at the Historic Glenora Mill

The Granary flat is located inside of a historical stone mill on the shoreline of Bay of Quinte, Lake Ontario. With exposed beams and stone walls, this unique space has a lot of character and a rustic feel.

Watch the Glenora Ferry pass by throughout the day and take a walk up to Lake on the Mountain Provincial Park where you can enjoy the breathtaking water views or pop over to the resort to grab a pint and a delicious meal at the two waterfront restaurants and brewery.

The Glenora Mill was built in 1806 as a three-storey stone grist mill. Its history connects with many properties along the shoreline, as well as Lake on the Mountain. We have included a printed book of the first 228 years of its history in the flat for you to learn more about how this property came to be.

The Granary Flat inside the mill is our first pilot as a short-term rental. The goal is to continue to renovate this space and open more guest flats over time. This building requires special attention to restore and the owners plan to continuously upgrade this flat to share its full potential with our guests.

When you enter the flat, you'll be welcomed by the water view, beautiful stone walls and wood stove in the living room. This space also doubles as a sleeping area with a futon that can be folded down into a bed. Just off the living room is the dining room with seating for 4, a workspace with a desk, and a cozy reading area. The kitchen includes a stove, full size fridge, microwave and cookware to prepare your favourite meal. Just off the kitchen is the bedroom, which includes a double bed and views of the lake. There is one full bathroom with a stand-up shower, no tub. The outdoor area just outside of this flat on the way to the entrance is available to guests to lounge, dine, cook and enjoy the views privately.

The flat is self-check-in so you can come and go as you please within the check-in and check-out time frames using the door code provided to you. We will not intrude on your getaway, however, should you find yourself in need of something, please do not hesitate to contact us.

This flat is on the main floor of the mill. Eventually other flats will be renovated and rented out for guests on one side and the other side will be reserved for the owner's family use. You may see the owners staying in another flat from time to time but for now, the property is yours to enjoy as our only guests.

This neighbourhood is very quiet and peaceful. The Glenora Ferry is our neighbour and you can take a free ferry trip over to Adulphustown, which is a quick way to come and go to the Kingston area.

Less than a 5-minute drive or a 2-minute walk will take you to the Lake on the Mountain Provincial Park where there are two simultaneous lake views (Lake Ontario and Lake on the Mountain), 2 restaurants and a brewery.

In a less than 10-minute drive, you will be on the Main Street of Picton where all the local shops, grocery stores, banks, restaurants, art galleries, parks and more can be found.

The Sandbanks Beaches are about a 20-minute scenic drive from our property.

There are some very scenic areas to walk to nearby, like around the ferry and to Lake on the Mountain, however, it's best to have a vehicle to drive to all the other attractions as the county area is quite spread out.

Local cabs and tour companies can also be pre-arranged by contacting them in advance.
