Restored 1930s Hunting Cabin with Partial Ocean Views
Built in the 1930s and moved from the ridge to oceanside in the 1940s, we've recently renovated our family cabin top to bottom while keeping what makes it a cabin. The wood stove still anchors the kitchen, the old Mendocino & Fort Bragg map is still on the wall, and the drop-leaf table seats four comfortably. It's a good fit for couples, solo travelers, or families with younger kids.
Inside: The kitchen is the heart of the place — fully equipped for real cooking, with the wood-burning stove throwing good heat on cold evenings. Radiant floor heat throughout (each room has its own thermostat). Queen bed, sofa sleeper, two Roku TVs, fast Wi-Fi. The bathroom got a full renovation: sea-glass green tile floor to ceiling, teak fold-down bench, two showerheads, and a built-in niche - not bad for a cabin built in the 1930's. ;)
Outside: An acre to yourselves — covered porch, open sun deck, BBQ, propane fire table. You can see the Pacific through the pines from the deck. Deer, quail, and the occasional fox wander through. Our neighbor's three Labs may also come say hello; just let us know if you'd like them to go home.
A note on the water: creek-fed, triple-ozone filtered — fine for showers and cooking. We stock bottled water for drinking.
One honest heads-up: quiet at night, but during the day you'll hear Highway 1. You'll also hear the ocean and the sea lions, which makes that two-lane highway noise all but disappear.
