This is the worst experience we have ever had. We rented this place for 2 nights. Everything was OK the 1st night. However on the 2nd night around midnight the carbon monoxide/smoke detector alarms started going off. There was no smoke anywhere. We were startelled and started opening all windows and the front door to let fresh air in. We were at this point starting to have headaches and we knew this was an emergency. I messaged the host with this emergency he didn't reply until the next morning. I also called him at 12:30am and he didn't answer. We were forced to gather our belongings and leave the property immediately. The host was concerned at first but when asked for a one night refund he was very rude and denied us a refund. He said we should have called 911 and we could have slept there once Everything was cleared. Understand we were visiting our daughter at UC Berkeley and hoped this would be a wonderful weekend. We are extremely grateful for the alarms that went off and warned us.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I'm sorry the night was stressful. Guest safety is my priority. The alarms worked as intended and alerted you. Is still unknown what they detected cause there wasn't no fire and nor carbon monoxide inside the unit. Hours later, PG&E (gas and electric company) tested all gas appliances at full output with doors and windows closed and found no gas leak or carbon monoxide, and no alarm activated this test lasted 2 hours they left a written report. This is the first time this happen, and I worked directly with Vrbo the case and issued a partial refund. In any emergency, calling 911 is the fastest way to get help. Separately, after checkout one towel was missing and two were left stained and I didn't charge for them, so I was surprised to see a one star rating. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit with your daughter.

We enjoyed our time in this spot. It smelled amazing as soon as we walked in. Everything was clean and stylized well. The location was great. We went to Los Moles Beer Garden less than 2 minutes away for dinner one night which was delicious. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping as well close by. We got groceries from Trader Joe’s for snacks, breakfast and lunches. We were able to cook at the house and there’s a dishwasher, too. I did have a couple of miscommunications with the owner that was my fault (I haven’t used Vrbo much) and I missed some details, so make sure to communicate with him ahead of time about pets and guests. He was very cordial though and just kindly reached out to clear it up. There is a pet fee for 25/night and if guests are not initially listed, 50/night, just make sure to communicate with him. In addition, the neighborhood is pretty quiet, even having a main street there. There’s also an off-leash dog park close by next to Costco. Pictured is my dog looking through the little window to keep guard. We kept her food and our shoes out on the little porch. She enjoyed going out there to look around and get fresh air. Overall, it had everything we needed for our stay.
