About this property
A-Frame + Hot Tub + Arcade + BBQ | Forest Views + Ski Access | Pitch & Pine
Set back in the pines a few minutes south of town, this A-frame announces itself before you're through the door — a steep black gable rising straight out of the trees, a wooden walkway leading to the entry, and windows stacked all the way up to the peak. Step inside and Pitch & Pine opens fast: vaulted ceilings, warm wood beams, and glass on every side pulling the forest in with you.
The main level is built for a group that actually wants to be in the same room. The open-concept layout runs from a full kitchen with an island and bar seating straight into a dining table set for eight, all of it under a soaring ceiling with the loft looking down from above. The living room gathers around a fireplace with tall windows framing nothing but trees — the kind of space where morning coffee turns into an hour of nobody going anywhere. Up in the loft lounge, things get quieter: soft seating, room to sprawl, and a perch above the action for whoever wants a book and a little distance from it all.
Then there's the game room, which is where most trips here find their center of gravity. Ping pong, foosball, an arcade cabinet, and a basketball hoop mean the rainy afternoons and the post-mountain evenings take care of themselves, and the tournament brackets tend to get serious faster than anyone expects.
Outside, the deck wraps you in pine. The hot tub is the obvious headliner — steam rising, trees pressing in on all sides, the sky going deep blue overhead once the sun drops behind the ridge. A BBQ sits nearby for the nights nobody feels like cooking indoors, and a row of Adirondack chairs handles the rest of the evening. At this elevation the air turns crisp the second the light goes, which is exactly what makes soaking out here feel earned.
Sleeping is sorted for nine. The primary bedroom pairs a king with a twin, the second bedroom has a queen, and the third is set up with a twin-over-twin bunk that kids will call dibs on before their bags are down. A sleeper sofa in the living room rounds out the count, and three full bathrooms keep the morning shuffle from becoming a negotiation.
The setting is the quiet half of the Breckenridge equation. You're tucked into the trees along the Blue River corridor, away from the crowds and the parking hunt, but Main Street is only a few minutes up Highway 9 — a walkable stretch of Victorian storefronts, coffee shops, restaurants, and gear rentals that stays lively in every season. Breckenridge Ski Resort and its five peaks are close behind, with the BreckConnect Gondola running from the north end of town up toward Peaks 7 and 8.
Head the other direction and the mountains get wilder in a hurry. Quandary Peak, one of Colorado's most accessible fourteeners, is a short drive south, and Hoosier Pass climbs to the Continental Divide just beyond it — worth the drive for the view alone. Summer opens up hiking and mountain biking straight out of the valley, fall turns the aspens gold along the pass, and winter puts Copper Mountain and Keystone within easy reach for anyone chasing fresh snow across the county. Frisco and Lake Dillon round it out with lakeside trails, paddling, and a change of scenery about twenty minutes north.
Come back at dusk and the house does its trick again — lit up gold under all that glass, framed by black pines, looking like exactly the kind of place you'd want to be walking toward.
