The house is very clean, cute and comfortable. Some touch up painting on the ceiling would go along way, bur just don't look up😉 We enjoyed our stay. Also, make sure to walk the one block for a wonderful overlook of the lake.
The house was very nice and in a super location, very close to the lake, downtown shoppes and restaraunts.
Owner was quick to answer any and all questions.
Would definitely book again.
I have to say, we all absolutely adore this Beautiful Home. I cant wait to come back very soon. Everything was very clean and had Everything we needed for our stay. I highly recommend staying at Scott's Place.
The house was a good deal, about a block from the lake and close to the retail and restaurant area. We enjoyed our stay and made use of the fire pit after scrounging up some wood from the woods adjacent to the yard. Beds were comfy, enjoyed watching lots of deer wandering through the yard. November weather precluded our hanging out on the deck, but it’s a nice set up.
Bigger inside than it looks outside. Short walk to beach access. Short drive to downtown area and grocery stores. House was clean and had all the amenities needed. Would recommend and would rent again.
My wife and I just wanted to get away for the weekend. This property was perfect for what we wanted. Close to the downtown area; everything was a 5 min drive (if that). Would have been perfect if we would have brought the kids too. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay here again.
Great location. Upon checkin we had only 1-1/2 rolls of toilet paper for 6 people staying 4 days. This forced us to go shopping almost immediately, which took up time better used enjoying family. The chairs by the fire pit were dirty and moldy making them unusable. The microfiber towels have an unpleasant feel. Overall the cottage seemed run down and in need of maintenance.
Had a very nice stay here. The beds were soooo comfortable. the towels were the best. Not a fan of microfiber but these were great. Not too far from the beach and pier. Quiet area. Scott was always available for questions and responded right away. Would stay here again. Valeri

Great Location and family friendly!
We loved staying at Scott's place. We had two boys, 18 mo and 5 yo, and four adults for our weekend getaway to South Haven. Scott's place had plenty of room and the yard was perfect for the boys! The playground equipment and the fire pit made staying at the house eating pizza more attractive than going out the first night we arrived. Plenty of sleep space, plenty of hanging out room and everything we needed. Our only regret is not staying longer.
Overall our stay was good. Great yard, however it wasn’t mowed. That didn’t stop us from enjoying the yard though. We enjoyed the toys available outside on the property for the kids. It Had nearly everything we needed and was as described. We really appreciated that there was plates and cups for the kids. If we could change some things it would be to have more attention to details/cleanliness (cob webs in corners, basement was creepy- that’s where laundry was, doors were sticky opening and closing, front door key pad has seen better days- faded numbers, a bit loose), house was warm at night, even with A/C and fans. Location was great as well.
The good: You can hear the lake from the property. The backyard is very pretty. The house was quite clean. The beds were comfortable. The back room and deck were quite lovely. Scott was responsive.
The not so good: It's a solid 30-minute walk at a brisk pace to downtown. Quite a bit farther down Monroe Blvd than we realized when booking. It was a bit light on the little things, like there wasn't a hair dryer. The towels and washcloths were synthetic fiber, maybe microfiber? They don't move easily across wet skin. And we had a bat in the house at 2 a.m. Not just a little fruit bat, either. A big brown bat with a wingspan of about a foot that was very freaked out and flying everywhere, high, low, at your head.... We managed to shoo it outside and I let Scott know. He said he will be looking into it. I suspect it came from the basement, as the house is pretty solid, but the basement has lots of spots bats might like, and there's a large gap in the door to the basement. We stuffed a towel in the gap after the bat incident just in case he had friends living down there. Also, WiFi can be dodgy, especially if there's a sudden crush of visitors in town, which there was.
Scott was nice and there are good things about the house, but overall this property just wasn't for us.

Disappointing Stay
We booked another home for the week of the 4th, but that owner cancelled and we thought we got lucky finding this place at the rate it was (still expensive, but nothing like other properties). However, I wouldn't stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it to friends.
The pros: It was a bit further from everything than we realized, but we are from Chicago so the walking didn't bother us, and majority of the walk is scenic anyway. The backyard is huge and great for exploring with kids (although be mindful of the poison ivy). Deck is nice to sit on.
The cons: The house sits on a busier road so no front porch/yard hanging out is possible. The home smelled like cigarettes (maybe from prior renters), and in general felt unclean, because it looked unclean. Furniture is old, stained, and uncomfortable to the point of it hurting our backs to sit on. Window units for AC are only in front and back room so the bedrooms got HOT. My kids were up each night drenched in sweat. Luckily, we brought a fan. Our biggest issue was the bugs. It was unreal. Spiders, fruit flies, roaches in the kitchen, and wasps (yes, wasps). All the windows and doors are in dire need of resealing. We did our best to block the gaps and cracks between the frames and doors/windows with pillows but it was an ongoing battle - to the point of my kids (2 and 5) getting upset. We came very close to leaving early because of the bugs but decided to push through. Doors only have door handle locks - they need deadbolts.
