About this property

WOW!!! Creek and Large stocked pond Waterfront Cabin in the National Forest

We have a no pet policy. Trout Run Cabin is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath real log cabin located on the banks of Fightingtown Creek, a protected trout steam. The cabin sleeps 6 comfortably. No pets, no smoking, no hot tub.

We are a family destination not a party location. It is very quiet here and we like it that way. If you like whimsy, you will love it here. The pictures tell the story.

At Trout Run Cabin you can take long walks back into the forest for miles or sit on the porch and read a book. How about sitting by the fire pit out back at night making s'mores while listening to the crystal clear water rushing by. The sounds of the forest are all around you. This is a very peaceful place. Lots of flat areas for the children to run and play. Bring their bikes and they can ride all day long.

No license needed to fish in the pond out front.

Inside you will find 2 premium king size beds: One in the master suite and the other in the loft suite. Also, there is a set of bunk beds in the bunk room. All beds have 1500 Egyptian cotton thread count sheets.

Come Relax and Re-energize.

Great Vacation Spot

This was a fantastic cabin. My only complaint is petty but it could use a new coffee pot.

Don’t think twice… book now!

My family and I had a wonderful stay here! My boys were in the creek daily and when they weren’t tubing on the creek they were fishing in the lake. The cabin is the perfect size. There is everything you need and more!! We loved it.

Beautiful Stay

The cabin was very cozy and nice. The water on both sides of the cabin was really a big hit for my husband and myself, it was so easy to drive to other places(Ellijay, Blue Ridge etc,.) I definitely would recommend this cabin. The cabin was well stocked and had everything you.

A Great Place to Stay

The cabin and property is well maintained and well stocked with dishes, pots, pans etc. There was plenty of room available if there were additional guests so that everyone could "Spread out" and have personal space.

One of the best vacations we have ever had.

The pictures of this property absolutely do not do it justice. The moment we pulled into the driveway my family had a sense of peace. We had EVERYTHING we needed and more. The property was spotless and comforting. The neighbor was precious too!was

Beautiful setting

We went here for our 50th. anniversary, hoping to find fish. There were none. The stairs to the loft were hard to navigate. The stove and oven were dirty. This really is not a good place for bike riding. However, if you're looking for a place in a beautiful setting to just relax and listen to the creek, this is it. The neighbors are very nice and Murray is congenial.

Relaxation in the country

This home is ideal for a lovely time to relax in the country. It's filled with charm and nicely decorated. By far my favorite is the long back porch which overlooks the flowing brook behind the house. You can walk for miles right from the house, and the neighborhood dog, Rosco (I think that's his name) will tag along. I could easily come back just to relax on that back porch! The house has a bed room on the ground floor and a loft bedroom upstairs. If downstairs, you can easily hear people walking upstairs...so better for light sleepers to sleep upstairs in the loft. No condiments are kept in the frig, so make sure you pick any you need up ahead of getting to the property. It's a long ways to get to the store! Finally the neighborhood just has a sweet feel. Wish my own neighborhood was so friendly! This seems like the way life should be!

Amazing Get-away !

One of the most relaxing vacations we have ever taken. The cabin was very comfortable and beautifully furnished. The upstairs bathroom is small, but all of the necessities are there ! The creek and the pond were too wonderful for words ! Nearby Mercier Orchards is a must visit .(only place we left the cabin to see !) Smores, coffee and homemade pies from the Orchard enjoyed around the fire/creekside, a game of horseshoes, a walk in the forest, fishing in the pond and creek......just doesn't get much better than that ! And if it rains, you are in for a treat....wonderful porch with very comfy furniture to enjoy the sound of the roaring creek and the rain .You will not be disappointed. The owner and neighbor were very helpful and thought of every detail ! Best stocked cabin ever ! Very peaceful and "off the beaten path".....we hope to be back in the Fall ! We did not want to leave !Thanks for a fantastic weekend.....the two guys said it was "best Fathers Day " just hanging out. Very special place.

Absolutely Unbelievable

Renting was deceiving because you are not allowed to fish the entire pond, only the area in front of your rental. However everyone living in that area are allowed to fish the entire pond, even in front of the area you paid handsomely to rent. During our entire stay, a man (assuming living in the area) had everyone in our group feeling uncomfortable because he walked around with a gun on him in plain sight every day. He also had a vicious dog with him that absolutely scared the children. Everyone felt comfortable coming into our space but we couldn't walk around into theirs. There was one lady, very nice, that walked her dogs every day and would let the children pet and play with them. Other than the experience with her, it is not a racially friendly place to visit.

Accessibility Issues

Pros: Quiet, Nice home, peaceful once you get there. Fully furnished for cooking, which we did a lot of but didn't intend to. Cons: Traveling the roads to the home was a big obstacle. Even my country-boy husband was nervous. Long sections of roads full of potholes, large rocks, deep dropoffs because of pavement worn away from sides of road. Narrow roads with inability to get to the side if meet someone coming in opposite direction. Someone must back up. One section is a bog hole where stream overflows. We had to go 10 mph on gravel road sections, some were ripples of bumps. Because of the road conditions, it is not the place to stay if you want to go into the surrounding towns daily (several miles away). We dreaded the drives to town. Driving at night on the gravel roads and partially paved road sections is not advisable. Outside furniture was very dirty. We did not sit on them because we had nothing but their towels to use to clean them up, but did wipe the small table down to eat on it. The wipe used to wipe it down was black when finished. We fished 4 days in the pond, but "0" fish. It states on the website it is a "Large Stocked Pond." A lady feeds them. You can only fish in a small area in front of the home. Way over-priced to stay here based on road conditions and with all of the turns that must be made to access the place. Shame on not being given travel hazard warnings. Drive an automobile NOT low to the ground (thankfully ours wasn't).

Peaceful retreat

Absolutely wonderful place to stay!!! The home was as described, and the owner was very responsive and helpful. Our family of four enjoyed the stream and pond the most. We brought kayaks with us, so the kids enjoyed fishing from those and not just the banks. If you love the tranquil sound of a stream, this is the place to go! My kids were even able to tune in the stream. It wasn’t too deep or shallow. The neighbors are very friendly, and you really couldn’t ask for a better family style getaway! Kitchen was well stocked too which is important to our family because we don’t eat out much. I would recommend this place to anyone without hesitation!

Peaceful Family Getaway

This is the perfect cabin getaway nestled on the creek, quiet, and perfect distance from Blue Ridge so you are able to truly unplug. The family of geese were adorable and the deer were very much out and about so definitely caution to take your time going around those back roads. Gravel roads lead up to the cabin. We have a minivan so had to go pretty slow as there were some bigger dips in the road bit definitely manageable. On to the inside, everything you could possibly need minus groceries and toiletries, all there. 2 king beds in downstairs bedroom and in loft. Our favorite part of the house was the all seasons room where you could sit and just listen to the rolling creek. Now it's important to remember that this is very much in the woods and bugs are to be expected. Big tip is to make sure counters and sink stay clean from anything that could attract ants. Again, just comes with the territory. Definitely recommend thale stay whether it's a couples getaway or a family vacay. Awesome spot! Oh and big thanks to Ellen for checking on us after the twins accidentally called lol!

Blue Ridge Mountains Christmas

Becaue we live in Tampa, we usually try to get to a cold climate during the Christmas holiday. This year we decided in the Georgia Blue Ridge mountains and we weren't disappointed. The cozy house was perfect. The fireplace was awesome and kept us warm during the chilly nights. The sound of the backyard creek was heavenly as we hung out around the firepit. We made friends with Buster, the neighborhood dog and he hung out with us as well. The kids loved skipping rocks on the pond and running around with Buster. We.couldnt have asked for a better time and the memories made will last foreever. We will definitely be back

About the host

Host profile image
Growing up in Florida, I have always taken summer vacations to the mountains because it is so different. I love the outdoors so it is a natural thing to love the cabin. For me and my wife, it is a dream come true. We found the perfect place in the perfect location. We have young children and wanted a place that we could let them run and play and not have to worry. We found it. This is one of those items on the bucket list that has been fulfilled. We hope that our guests enjoy the cabin as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

My wife and I had always wanted a cabin in the mountains, on a stream, with a lot of flat area. In June of 2012, we found everything we had been looking for. One of the first things I noticed when I first visited the cabin was how quiet is it and all you can hear is the sound of the creek rushing by. It is a special place and we are just happy that we are able to share it with others.

What makes this property unique

Trout Run Cabin is such a relaxing place. It is so quiet here. You can just sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of the forest. One of the best things is that you feel so removed from everything yet you are only 20 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge. It is just an awesome place.
