About this property
Perfect Family Retreat with all the amenities and privacy for cabin summer fun!
A quick 1.5 hr beautiful drive close to the Twin Cities and there you have it the 'up north feel'. Balsam Lake is a premier lake that has plenty to offer. The lake is 1901 acres of great fishing, several islands, public beach perfect for a summer get away. Boat to one of many restaurants on the lake and easy access the marina. This lake makes it relaxing with all it has to offer.
Cozy up to the bonfire over looking the lake and listen to the wildlife sing. We enjoy looking at the lake at all hours, and every time we capture something different. Swing in the hammock that over looks the lake or just lay back and relax in the sitting deck. Perfect breeze hits you on all sides, the smell of summer is in the air.
The cabin is a easy to access one story. it is roughly 1000 sq ft with updated amenities. Sit on the deck that overlooks the lake. In the cabin we have updated everything to make the stay extra easy. One of my major needs as a mother of 3 was a washer and dryer in which is located in the bathroom. The cabin has 2 bedrooms, 1bath, and a pullout sofa in the porch. The kitchen is equipped with everything you should need. It is a great space for entertaining your family. Plenty of parking down the winding driveway. I am all about comfort when I step foot at the lake.
There is a public boat entrance if you decide to bring your boat or you can rent ours for an additional fee. There is so much I could keep adding with the perks, but i will let the pictures speak for themselves!
We hope you have a pleasant stay and look forward to this being a yearly trip for you!

Loved the cabin and the decor. We really enjoyed the outdoor spaces and lakefront dock setup.
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.
Thank you!
Amazing location and property. We saw turtles every morning as well as deer, beaver, frogs and caught a ton of fish right off the pier. We would definitely stay here again.

Thank you so much! We look forward to your return!
The cabin was super cozy, clean, and well accommodated. The owner was very helpful in working a solution to allow us to bring our boat. We had a great time enjoying the lake and the cute town of Balsam.
My family had a wonderful time staying on Balsam Lake. Property was clean with all expected amenities. The fishing was excellent and the available pontoon for rent made lake access easy. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to get away for a few days with a family of four!
This property is managed by people who truly care. Their communication and willingness to accommodate was second to none. The lakefront views and outdoor space were phenomenal.
The cabin was exactly as described. We had everything we needed for a relaxing girls getaway. Kitchen well equipped, comfortable beds and an incredible view are just a few of the great things about this cabin. So many places to enjoy the property. I definitely recommend this retreat!
My husband and I had a truly enjoyable time at the Balsam Lake Cabin. It was the prefect size for the two of us with everything we needed for relaxing. The outdoor areas of the property were absolutely perfect. You can see a lot of thought and care went into planning the outdoor areas. It was just what we needed; reading and relaxing under the shade trees in the morning and then floating in the lake in the afternoon. Would definitely choose this location again!
What’s there not to love? Beautiful lake, beautiful cabin & stocked w/ everything, pet friendly & so calm & peaceful! It was a lovely place for our family to reunite post pandemic!!
Family of 4, plenty of room. Lots of seating areas, nice dock for our boat.
Only downside was low water pressure. Showers were a trickle. Everything else was very nice. I’d stay there again!
The property was lovely and peaceful. Lots of different places to sit and enjoy the lake view. Sunsets from the dock are particularly gorgeous. The lake itself is fun and relaxing. We loved using the pontoon to explore the lake (the boat has a really quiet motor which was great). The cabin is nice and modern and has everything we could’ve wanted. Absolutely loved it.

Thank you Josh! We were glad to have you up and make memories!
Melissa's property was perfect for our family. She communicated quickly and was so sweet! The lake itself is wonderful for boating, fishing, and swimming. The town of Balsam Lake is a short drive and has everything you need. The cabin and grounds were awesome! The kitchen has everything you need, there are lots of games, and the washer and dryer are such a great bonus! I love everything about Melissa's place and can't wait to go back. Thank you Melissa!

Thank you so much ! It was wonderful to have you and your family enjoy the cabin . ☺️ You were amazing guests !
Balsam Lake is gorgeous! Jumping off the dock into the clean water is a blast for all ages! The cabin is great too. The fridge was leaking inside but it sounds like a new one is coming. The beds were very comfy. All the seating options outside were great even though a few chairs around the fire pit were broken. The pontoon boat ran great and was so fun to use to explore the lake, drop the anchor and swim, or drive up to the lodge for dinner. It is really beat up inside but it serves its purpose! Overall it was a really wonderful lake vacation!
property was on a nice part of Balsam Lake. Overall things were ok. Lighting inside is dark and could use more working lites. Some of the windows were not operable, with the bathroom not having windows for fresh air. Beds were good. Outdoor patio needed to be cleaned a bit better. Overall an okay place to stay, but didn't wow me for the price.

Thanks Pat , not really sure why the bathroom didn’t have any windows . There is 2 full windows in there . All of the other windows are operable with exception of 1 that we just bolted shut due to bees trying to nest in it . Anyways hope you find your perfect fit for cabin rental for you and your family .
My husband, toddler, dog, and I all loaded up the car and went up north this past week. The owner has a pontoon you can rent and we had fun putting over to the beach and waterside restaurants. There is a wildlife feeding area a half hour away where you can feed deer, donkeys, and ponies to name a few. My son and I swam in the lake by the dock every day. At night, there is WiFi so you can stream shows if you want. Although, I highly recommend bringing a hammock and enjoying the gorgeous sunset and blue heron calls, instead. If you are into grilling, they have an instant start Weber that my husband loved so much, I am pretty sure we will be purchasing soon. There is a large trampoline in the back yard that is perfect for mornings while the lake is warming up. We easily could have stayed another week. We really hope to be back!!!
I can't say enough good things about Melissa's cabin. It was a wonderful week away from the world.
Communication - Melissa was always available, and able to answer any questions we had. I never had to wonder about check-in procedures or amenities - she was proactive and sent all the details we needed well in advance of our stay.
Setting - the cabin itself is lovely and private, which isn't always the case with cabins, especially on a big lake like Balsam. The driveway winds through the trees (caution to anyone towing a boat or trailer!) which adds to the sense of getting away from it all. The cabin is above the water, with well-maintained and manicured steps leading down to the dock. The shoreline is terraced, with beach chairs one level up, and a fire pit and deck on the top level by the cabin. There is no beach, but the bottom is sand and easy to get into for swimming or water sports. Melissa has a pontoon available for rent, which we did not use (we had our own boat there), but is a fantastic boat - clean, well maintained, and awesome for boat swims or twilight cruises.
There is SO MUCH SEATING at this cabin! There are two table with 4 chairs each on the deck, there are adirondak chairs around the fire pit, there are beach chairs on the terrace overlooking the lake, there is a bench on the dock, there is indoor seating at the breakfast bar and circular table, and there is great comfortable seating in both the living room and on the screened in porch.
We used the fire pit nearly every night we were there - a perfect way to end the day.
It was cool enough during the evenings we did not need the air conditioning, but there is AC in the cabin, which is fabulous for those hot and sticky summer nights.
Sleeping - beds were clean and comfortable, with room for six to sleep comfortably. The pull-out couch on the porch has a thick mattress and was very comfortable - no weird bar in your back all night.
Kitchen - this kitchen was extremely well stocked, with all staples provided (THANK YOU!). Any utensil we needed was there with multiple pot and pan options. Definitely check what is there before you grocery shop - so nice not to have to go buy olive oil!
Wi-fi was great and plenty fast for those of us who still had to get some work done.
All in all, it was a wonderful trip. I would highly recommend, and plan to go back ourselves next year!

Thank you Jessie! I really appreciate the beautiful review!
Our family of five had a great weekend at the cabin! The owners were easy to work with, quick to respond and the kids had a blast on the boat and jumping off the floating dock. Would recommend and would stay here again!
