The property across the street was purchased & is maintained by the homeowner who also provides you with an exclusive private pathway as part of your rental agreement. NEAR LEWES & HENLOPEN!
NEAR FREDERICA & BETHANY! (No sports teams please)
Instead of parking problems, heavy traffic & crowded beaches, a typical day could look something like this:
In the early morning, from your master bedroom’s private sundeck; view the eastern sky & large ships that appear small, moving effortlessly through a vast body of water while you are enjoying your first cup of coffee. Walk over your small dune that reveals the shoreline of the Delaware Bay; soothe your soul by feeling the calmness of a new day.
As you watch the pink, orange, & gold sunrise over the water, the calm changes, you feel a breeze coming from the salty sea, you see & hear the waves begin to lap onto the beach, birds appear, start chirping, & move toward the one-foot surf; you now know why Broadkill Beach is the best-kept secret in all of Delaware.
Linger & watch the Cape May/Lewes Ferry travel across the mouth of the Delaware Bay to its destination. Watch dolphins playing, splashing & catching fish just in front of you. Walk north toward the Broadkill Store, turn over stranded horseshoe crabs & stop to investigate the life on & around the rock jetty.
At low tide look for hermit crabs, starfish, conchs & other sea life in the shallow water around these rocks. Read, relax, swim, take a nap at the water’s edge & refresh yourself with lunch in the cool air conditioning of your retreat just behind the small dune you crossed over earlier in the day.
Walk south from your private beach path toward Beach Plum Island State Park & ask the fishermen if they are catching anything. Look south & identify the Roosevelt Inlet, historic Lewes, Henlopen Point & the breakwater lighthouse.
Return to your resting place, take an outdoor shower & plan your evening by making sure you are back home to sit on the bench seats of your private observation deck to watch a spectacular sunset over a Federal Wildlife Refuge & waterway adjoining your own backyard.
This open-concept home, built in the perfect location, was designed for comfort, convenience, & enjoyment to be shared with family, friends, & now with you. It consists of two living areas that are included in the weekly rental fee; a three-bedroom house & a one-room efficiency room that sleeps 3. The two areas are connected by an enclosed staircase & access to an outdoor shower, changing area, & privacy space.
Imagine the convenience of bringing your own boat to launch & dock in back, giving you access to limitless activities & adventures that few people are fortunate enough to discover or experience. Spend the day fishing & crabbing from the dock, exploring winding tributaries in the backwaters, drifting on the Broadkill River, charging through the Roosevelt Inlet into the open expanse of the Delaware Bay & Atlantic Ocean waiting for you to experience all it has to offer.
BRING YOUR TOYS, IF YOU DON'T, YOU'LL WISH YOU HAD!
Launch your boat, jet skis, canoes, kayaks & other flotation vessels into the backwaters. Navigate south on the Broadkill River to Lewes for a cocktail & meal at the waterside restaurants. Go out the Roosevelt Inlet for bay fishing or jet skiing. Come around on the bay to your home at Broadkill & take the family for a ride on the jet skis, go tubing & wakeboarding, or load everyone up on your pontoon boat for a day trip & picnic lunch.
Head back in the Inlet & get a gasoline fill-up on the water in Lewes. Your dock is long enough to hold a 24-foot pontoon boat in the water for the week & still have plenty of room to crab, fish, catch minnows, sunbathe, put up a baby pool, fill with water, bird watch, sit, & relax.
Replenish your mind & soul with the serenity of the environment, meditate, read, & experience the sunset from the dock of your private oasis.

The historic town of Milton has a charming downtown at the beginning of the Broadkill River. Most restaurants overlook the river or fresh water Wagamon’s pond. Fishing off the docks or on the pond are favorite locations for avid anglers to catch a meal. The state record largemouth bass was caught here.
The Milton Museum gives the history of the town as a shipbuilding town during colonial time as well as button making from clam shells, rope making, and holy garland in the late fall to sell in Philadelphia.
The practically self sustaining Dogfish Head brewery was once a cannery, and now includes beer making, a distillery, and casual restaurant. Plan on spending an afternoon there and play some bocce ball if it is not too hot.
Other Milton restaurants include:
• Taco Real Mexican
• The Miltonian Pizzeria
• Irish Eyes Pub Fare in Milton (also located on the dock at Lewes, DE)
• Dough Bar with a varied menu American cuisine ( behind Irish Eyes )
• Beaches Seafood
• The Backyard ( American cuisine )
• The Broadkill Store (pick up a menu, order, and take it back to the house)

About the host
Hosted by Brandon Wulffleff

We are north of Rehoboth & Lewes, DE. We are east of Milton, DE off Route 16 E. on South Bayshore Drive. I am Wendy & my husband, Bob passed away 8/31/19 & is deeply missed. The true reason we purchased the property at the southernmost end of this beach is that Bob LOVED to fish.
I was allowed to buy an empty lot in 1985, as long as it was the furthest south on the creek, with a sloping sandy shoreline to the tidal water of the back yard so Bob could access his favorite fishing spots directly from his second home on Broadkill Beach.
We purchased this lot in 1985, built the shell of the house in 1986, & completed the efficiency on our own. We had a boat ramp & dock before “finished plumbing” in the house! It became the best investment we could ever make & enjoy!
Access to the Delaware Bay in the front & tidal waters in the back yard of our property allowed us to have all the adventures anyone could hope for in a vacation home.
The amazing bonus is that the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge adjoins our backyard. No one will ever be able to build on this property & it is ours to enjoy as far as the eye can see.
In 1995, with help of friends & family, we completed the interior of the home. When the house needed new siding & roof, we enclosed the staircase to join the main part of the house to the efficiency so there was protection from the weather when accessing these areas.
This was our second home & I would love for your family to come to enjoy it as much as we did.
Lasting memories created by our children playing, swimming, drifting to their grandma’s dock ¼ mile upstream with the tidal water, catching crabs, minnows & snails, inspecting all of their parts & learning how to operate canoes, boats, kayaks, & jet skis from the ramp & dock of our property will always be cherished memories for me.
THE SANDY BEACH IN FRONT WITH A PRIVATE BEACH PATH & BEACH GEAR CORRAL TO ACCESS THE SHORELINE & PERSONAL BOAT DOCK & CEMENT RAMP IN BACK ARE EXCLUSIVELY YOURS!
Why they chose this property
I am Wendy & my husband, Bob passed away 8/31/19 & is deeply missed. This property is one of the greatest blessings we have ever received because of the wonderful experiences we were able to share with our family & closest friends.
FOND MEMORIES of breathtaking sunsets over the National Wildlife Refuge while sitting on the rustic bench seats constructed with love by my father, & then watching the stars appear in the sky, finding the north star, big dipper, & identifying other constellations. Turning to the moon, we would determine its phase & discuss the way to remember the “Waxing” & “Waning” crescent. The children would search for shooting stars & make a wish before heading off to bed in the efficiency room.
PEACE
South Broadkill Beach is amazing in that it gives you the true feelings of peace & serenity as you walk this beach on your own. You may not see another person anywhere! Harmony, tranquility, & calm are what you experience while breathing & meditating on this sandy shore of the Delaware Bay.
PRIVACY
Although individuals do not own the beachfront, this is a very private area, possibly because there is no legal place to park your vehicles unless you own or are a guest of a property owner in this section. There is no public parking.
PERFECT
This is a beach experience you may have never had before. It is perfect for families. It is located on the bay & is great for smaller children to swim & play, older ones to fish, swim, & operate water toys, & for parents to let their guard down a little because your family is easily seen at all times due to the fact that there are few or no people within 100 yards of your beach chair.
SECRET
You will not find this beach crowded & will be able to create your own fond memories to carry you into the future. I hope you and your family can create the same or similar memories here during your vacation stay. Discover why the southernmost part of Broadkill Beach is the best-kept secret in Delaware. Book us at Vrbo 602695.
What makes this property unique

Please know that our family has been blessed & are grateful to have had the opportunity to build this home with friends, vacation here, & now are interested in sharing it with you so you & your extended family will also have amazing memories to cherish in your future!
