Fabulous house in a great setting. Close to local towns and excellent base to explore all the fabulous sites and activities the Dordogne has to offer. Pool was lovely, layout of house worked well for two family groups too. Well equipped kitchen and plenty of cool downstairs space too when the weather was extra hot!
A wonderful house in beautiful Dordogne countryside. The owner was brilliant with his communication and directions. The house was fully equipped with all kitchen appliances we could possibly need! The swimming pool was divine, in such a secluded spot in the garden. We would definitely be looking at booking this house again in the future!
An absolutely fantastic property, perfect for our needs, great for adults and little ones alike and we made some lovey memories here. Set in beautiful scenery close to Sarlat and a great base for exploring the area. The property has everything you need and the pool was very much needed in this years heatwave. The nearby bakery and Pizza Hut were fantastic bonuses. The toys and kids books were a great bonus too. We’d highly recommend and love to come back.
We stayed at David's place the second time and enjoyed it again very much! The house is super cozy and the garden even more beautiful than last year. We will see us again :)
We're repeat visitors! Loved the house in 2022 and we decided to do it again. The owners have updated the decor and added new appliances, which made our recent stay even better than our first. And the location is ideal for exploring the Dorgogne region.
An excellent stay. The house was very nice. Extremely spacious and a lovely quiet location. Pool was great to swim and sit by. Terrace outside the house is also a nice place to sit and relax. Host was very helpful and immediately and efficiently dealt with an issue that arose at the house during our stay. Would very much recommend the property and we hope to be back sometime.
Loads of room, very comfortable. Wonderful saltwater pool, I’d no idea what a difference that makes! The view over the Dordogne valley was incredible. Overall can’t recommend enough
We (8 adults) were very comfortable in this characterful and very well-equipped home. The house is secluded with delightful views, has a great terrace for relaxed meals, a good-sized pool with plenty of sun loungers. Sleeping and bathroom arrangements worked very well - plenty of room for all, and the massive kitchen and lounge accommodated us all very comfortably. Lots of games provided for inside and outdoors. Excellent communication from the host prior to arrival, plus a generous arrival hamper and courtesy contact during our stay. Well located for visits to bastide towns, canoeing, wine-tasting, etc.. We loved it.
Four of us stayed in this home (2 couples) and the two "wings" gave us nice privacy with the roomy modern kitchen in the middle. Really enjoyed the sparkling clean pool and two outside eating areas (offering shade or sun). Well appointed with coffee makers, market bags, loads of kitchen and dishware, an extra refrigerator (very handy!), and a smart TV in the Lounge area. Owner very responsive to questions and queries! Note that it is a bit of a remote location, about 3 miles outside Sarlat (you could not walk there - definitely need a car.)
We spent two great weeks in Davids house and really enjoyed our stay. We cooked a lot of delicious meals in the large and well equipped kitchen, watched movies in the cozy living room or played cards on the terrace surrounded by a wonderful garden. The first week the weather was unfortunately often a little too cold for the pool, but the second we also had some great time there relaxing and playing table tennis.
The house offers plenty of space for all kinds of activities and there are also many exciting things to discover in the beautiful area - caves, markets and of course the impressive Dordogne.
We are already looking forward to our visit next year :)
A huge old farmhouse which has been modernised and made very comfortable. It's quiet and secluded, but within walking distance of a boulangerie and a few km drive from excellent supermarkets in Sarlat. The house, especially the kitchen, is equipped with everything you could need and there are there are lots of games and books. The spring weather in the Dordogne has been dreadful this year and our week at the end of May was surprisingly cold but the pool was inviting and warm enough for the younger members of our party to swim.
There is so much to do in the area - caves, velotrain, zipwires, chateaux, gardens, canoes, etc etc - something for all ages. We would love to go back!
We had a great stay at La Croix Petite to get the family all together to celebrate Steve’s upcoming 70th birthday! We love the Dordogne, having spent many holidays in the area before but the location was perfect for river activities, markets, chateaux and castles. The house, gardens and pool are fantastic and a quick easy drive for essentials and pleasure activities. The kitchen is so well equipped and our family bbq using both gas and charcoal bbqs was a great success. La Croix Petite really was perfect for what we wanted - watching the hot air balloons coming across the bottom of the valley was an added bonus. Little did we know that we’d be having a flight too later in our stay! Thanks David, and also to Toni and Mark who looked after us so well - brilliant people to have around! Local knowledge like where to get a Guinness or to watch rugby union was very welcome!
We have stayed in the Dordogne a few times and wanted a bigger house to give people space and comfort with a wee but of luxury thrown in. That is exactly what we got.The kitchen has everything you need, the bedrooms, bathrooms and sitting room were all spotless as well as beautiful whilst having the unique French rustic style. We didn’t appreciate we also had fusball, table tennis by the pool and other games band books, which added to our stay. The pool, gardens and different outside areas to sit in are gorgeous and add to the while ambiance of the house and its settings.David was the perfect host, easy and prompt to communicate with. We had heavy rain which changed the ph in the pool. David had this sorted straight away and then double checked the next day that everything was ok.You will need a car, but with so much to do in the local area, you wouldn’t want to miss out but not being able to get around. Probably one of the best locations and houses we have stayed in and a bit at pains to write this in case it is booked out for us to rebook in the future.
The home has an authentic feel and experience. The kitchen was big and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and it was great to have 4 bedrooms and bathrooms. That is rare in this area. The living room was great and first time we've had comfortable furniture in France! We loved the location however the house is very difficult to find and to get in and out of the driveway onto the D25.
The shrubbery needs to be cut back, to enjoy the view of the hot air balloons, launching every morning and afternoon. We loved eating outdoors together and the table and chairs were great and comfortable. Curtains on the windows or screens would be nice since we had issues when it was hot with large insects coming in the bedrooms at night. The bathrooms needed a good scrubbing initially. The pool was not heated at all. David, the owner, was very helpful when issues arose. The property manager never responded to my text or phone message.

Thanks Coleen, for your kind words. We'll agree to disagree on gardening strategies, I think :) - we do love our shrubs! The pool heater only kicks in when the water temp drops below 25c, and as mentioned our local manager was abroad during your stay, but I'm glad I made a good substitute.
Magnifique endroit !

We travelled as two families with four children in total to the Perigord. The house is located almost in the middle if all sites to be visited in this beautiful area. As a summary it is well equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay. It was a great pleasure to show our friends around and they enjoyed waht we love about the region. David was always at hand when information was needed. We will for sure be back.
Fabulous Gite - clean with excellent amenities and great pool. Super location with a boulangerie in walking distance and shops and restaurants only a few km away. Lots to do with table tennis , games , table football etc, Owners kept in contact and we can’t wait to go again.
Wonderful facilities and so much for the teenagers to do - swimming, table tennis, table football - so the adults could relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and pool!
A perfect Summer break in the Dordogne.

Hi Willy, thanks for your kind words and feedback. Yes, as it was so hot, well over 40c, the issue we had with the pool pump resulted in a colour change over an extremely short time period. These things do happen occasionally and I’m happy we returned to clarity within 48hrs. It’s quite possible something is lost in translation as I don’t recognise your point on the house access? It isn’t something that has come up previously, and I’m unsure of the area in question. We have two driveways to the house available, depending upon the direction one is arriving from. Perhaps you weren’t aware of the second? I’ll add it to our welcome pack, in any event.
Die Gegend ist ein Traum und das Haus war wundervoll. Leider waren wir nur 4 Personen, weil die anderen Freunde aus Angst vor Corona zu Hause geblieben sind.
Trotzdem ein wundervoller Urlaub.

Self-confessed Francophiles, we bought Croix Petite in 2015 after two years of research and viewing more than 30 properties.
We love the house, and we love the local area. If we weren't gainfully employed we'd be there now :)
Luckily we have wonderful property caretakers Jo and Will who look after the house, and the wonderful people who come and stay in it, for us.
Why they chose this property
Why this property?
S P A C E !
Croix Petite is actually two stone houses that had been joined together with a new kitchen. The result is nearly 300 square metres of space, with two wings each with two bedrooms and bathrooms, large landings and a huge lounge, plus games room. Only one bedroom isn't en suite, and that one has it's own bathroom.
Because of the two wings it would be quite possible for two families to stay in the house and not hear each other!
Outside there's 5 acres - a wood to lose yourself in, and a heated pool to relax in, private and not overlooked. Walnut trees, too. There are loads of footpaths nearby and very good cycling, on and off road, for reasonably fit riders.
There's a very authentic tabac a hundred metres away, for an end-of-day pastis. Robert, the owner, farms the fields at the bottom of the valley by the house. On Sunday evenings a little pizza van is stationed here - great for a lazy evening meal.
300m in the other direction is a great boulangerie.
Peace, space and tranquility in the heart of the Dordogne.
What makes this property unique
We're extremely lucky to have local property managers, who look after the property and know it well. They will be on-hand for advice or help during your stay.
Beynac Chateau is just 6km, and the Dordogne river too.
The Dordogne is great for boat trips plus canoeing and kayaking.
Beynac is one of the most beautiful villages in France. The chateau is open to the public, and the area is saturated with amazing castles and chateau.
Les Eyzies is 12km away, with the famous pre-historic caves.
Sarlat la Caneda is just 6km away with all the restaurants and supermarkets you could wish for, but don't forget the local boulangerie just 300m away from the house.
