This large first-floor 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home is just steps from both the ocean and Mission Bay, offering the perfect blend of beachside relaxation and adventure. The home features a queen bed in one bedroom and two queen beds in the other, making it perfect for families or groups.
Enjoy all the comforts of home, including air conditioning, a fully stocked kitchen, high-speed WiFi, digital cable with hundreds of channels, and a washer/dryer in the unit. We also provide beach towels, a grill for outdoor dining, and flat-screen TVs for cozy nights in.

This home is part of a duplex, and both units can be rented separately if available. A shared 2-car garage provides one parking spot per unit—large vehicles can fit, but it's a tight squeeze!

This was our fourth year in a row staying at this beach house. The day it’s no longer available to vacation in will be heartbreaking for us! It’s close to the beach, comfortable, relatively easy to get to. Every year we come back there’s some sort of improvement they’ve made. We love this place and we’ll be back!!!

Great Location

Loved the location of this property. It is just a half a block from the beach so you get the beach without the crowds and noise. There is a great coffee shop just a block away that I went to every morning. I took advantage of the washer and dryer because I booked for an extended stay. I would highly recommend this property.

We loved the place, the set-up, the location and the decor. Location is about 50 paces from the Mission Beach boardwalk and close to basic necessities (within 1 block). The host was very responsive to our requests. We are strongly considering requesting this spot again next year. Our dog was so happy to be there, we had trouble getting him back in the car when it was time to leave.

Perfect!

This is our second time staying here. I love this place. I love how close it is to the beach, it’s cozy, and a perfect spot! The week we were here there were dolphins right on the shore every morning too! The only thing I struggled with was the tv. None of us could figure out how to turn on the Roku on any of the tv’s in the house. We thought maybe it was battery related but I just assumed it was my own fault. We will be back!

San Diego bay/ocean

The 717 San Luis Obsipo was ok. We think that it is ok for weekends or 3-4 days but not three weeks. The kitchen is very very very small, just one drawer for cutlery. No pyrex bowls, several bowls said that they couldn't use for microwaves, etc. We had a big dog and we couldn't eat in restaurants very day and cooking was not good because of the small kitchen. The bedrooms, baths, washer/dryer. were great.

Great Little Beach House

We are a family of seven and had a lovely stay at this beach house. While the house itself is on the older side, the interior has been updated and modernized. The management company was very responsive when we couldn't find a dustpan and requested one. Same thing was true for new boogie boards. There were a few things about the place that were not ideal, but small. For example, there are no toilet paper holders in the bathrooms, and the patio furniture was incomplete. Our family enjoyed the fire ring built into the patio, but the house needs to supply kindling, not just firewood. Finally, as other reviewers have stated, you can absolutely hear every pin drop from the upstairs apartment.

Close to beach, but a little loud

I probably would have given this place a 3 1/2. The owner communicates well. We thought the towels and sheets were clean, but the bed comforters did not appear very clean. In his defense, we did not notify him of this and just moved them off the beds. The best thing about the place is the proximity to the beach. It is only a few steps away which is awesome. The worst thing is that we thought it was fairly loud even at night while trying to sleep. Probably not the best place to stay with a family with young kids, as there are way too many college students around the summer time and most of them are very loud. We were fortunate that the sorority girls staying above us were fairly courteous and respectful knowing we had young kids, but it could have gone the other way if we had not been so lucky. This condo is definitely more suited for a younger crowd.

Beach House review

The beach house was well maintained and worth the money. The proximity to the beach is accurate. The inside of the house was true to the pictures, well kept and clean. All appliances worked, TVs with full cable in all rooms, comfy beds. Good location for a quick taxi to many bars and restaurants. The only negatives we found to this property are: 1) there is separate property directly above you that is also rented out... If you have rowdy/obnoxious neighbors partying and yelling (as we did) it can get old quick and youll hear everything. 2) You do have a garage parking space but it is extremely difficult to get in and out of. A neighbor who lives in the area permanently parks his truck about 8 feet across the garage in the already narrow side street your garage is located. We parked on the street a few times just because it was logistically easier. I would still definitely reccommend this house, just be aware of these things.

Great Property with One Major Flaw

The property was just as described and very clean/tidy. Everything was well stocked. It was great to have garage parking just a heads up that a mid size SUV is the largest you could probably fit in there. Location was very nice with easy access to the beach or bay and only a brief walk to the pier or Belmont park. Now to the main FLAW. The walls are so thin!! This isn’t something that I blame the owner for but it is something I think people should be aware of. The unit is on the first floor and you hear every movement of the guests upstairs. From walking to closing cabinets and rolling their suit cases. We had guests stay above us that had a kid that played ball in the house and there was constant stomping, running, chairs moving and dogs barking starting at 6am. So if you are a sensitive sleeper or easily annoyed by noise I would consider another property. Note to host. I’m not sure what the listing says for the upstairs unit but informing them to be curious to the downstairs guests should definitely be in the rules. :)

Overall decent property; could use some improvements

I've been torn about what to write in a review and waffled back and forth on the rating. There are things we really enjoyed, but certain improvements would make a big difference. Pros: - Location is excellent--very close to beach. - Layout and functionality of unit is nice--great for two couples. - Unit has been updated fairly recently. - Owner responded quickly to reservation request and responded fairly quickly to text reporting two issues during our stay--one issue was resolved promptly. - Ability to park in garage is a big plus. Street parking is hard to come by. - There were some beach towels and beach chairs, but only two chairs were in proper working order. Cons: - BIGGEST ISSUE -- the terms of the listing are deceiving. This was my first HomeAway reservation, so I'm not 100% positive if this issue relates to HomeAway or the owners. In the later stages of booking the reservation, I had the unpleasant surprise that I had to either agree to an additional refundable deposit charged to my credit card (significantly larger than the deposit disclosed in the listing) or buy equivalent damage insurance for an extra cost. The lack of transparency of this extra deposit is unacceptable. - The cleanliness was so-so at best; unit looked okay at a glance, but it's in need of a deep clean. Immediately upon arrival, I took my shoes off and walked around in new white socks; after a short while, I noticed my socks were now brown on the bottom, and we saw crumbs underneath some furniture. Granted, the same will happen at my own house, but when I'm paying a cleaning fee at a rental, I expect a little better. One shower curtain was nasty with mold/mildew at the bottom. I texted the owner, and she said she would bring one. I understood it would be the same day, but it didn't happen (granted, I texted a little over 24 hours before check out, maybe she was waiting until we left). Most of the bath towels were older; some had a smell of mold. - The kitchen is only somewhat stocked with necessities. We chose this unit over a hotel so we could cook our own meals. We were able to do so, but it was a challenge--few pans/bowls for cooking, utensils were weird (lots of forks but only a few spoons), no spatula for flipping eggs/pancakes, dull knives. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. I would probably consider this property again (with lower expectations), but I will also shop around. Owners need to get after the cleaners and disclose extra deposit.

Mission beach

Perfect location only 50 yards from mission beach, coffee shop right across the street, barely had to drive anywhere . House had everything we needed and the patio/fire pit was a real gem and where we spent most of our time. SInce this is one block off the boardwalk, privacy is much better than similar boardwalk options. Would happily stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at San Luis Obispo! We spent a lot of time on the generous sized patio. The bbq grill and fire pit were great! It was nice not to pack beach towels....one less thing to worry about.

Great Area

4 of us stayed for 5 days. Our plane got in earlier than check in and the management was accommodating as there was no one prior to us staying and let us check in a few hours early. Such a relief. Location was perfect. 2 very short blocks to the beach. A cute little mart across the road and a block down that basically had anything you needed if forgotten. Management was quick to reply and message with questions. Location makes it about 20 minutes to most attractions. Multiple bike rentals near by. CVS about a mile and a half away great morning walk also by Ralph’s Grocery. We would definitely stay here again or at another one of their properties!
