About this property
Lovely, Sprawling Log Home On Pretty, Pristine Trickey Pond.
Originally a modest log cabin, this home has been expanded to a generous 6 bedroom home with lake views from all living spaces. A pleasant mix of rustic and contemporary charm, this is an unforgettably pretty place to stretch out and enjoy the wonders of Trickey Pond, a true gem of the Lakes Region. A well-maintained deck stretches across the entire back of the home, wrapping around one side into a huge dining area (accommodates 10-12) with party-sized gas grill just a few steps below. Beyond the deck is a sweeping green lawn with the perfect combination: expansive water views with total privacy on either side. Beyond, 182 ft of private waterfront connects you to one of Maine's cleanest lakes, with a gradual shallow entry that is perfect for young children. Included in your rental fee are a canoe, two kayaks, 2 youth and 2 adult standup paddle boards with room for a motorboat at the dock. Back inside the house, take your pick: water-gazing from the dramatic 2-story living room, meal-making in a huge country kitchen, ping-pong-playing on the "other side" in the game room, complete with a second kitchen and bar. In between, a private office with water views means even the workaholics will be happy. This is a perfect house to spread out in. In perfect contrast to the privacy on the lake side, the house is on a residential street, perfect for walking, biking, stroller-pushing and meeting great neighbors. This is a safe, friendly neighborhood just 10 minutes from the village of Naples (groceries, shopping, dining, gas) 30 minutes to the quaint town of Bridgeton, 45 minutes to the dining, cultural, coastal offerings of Portland. Or, head west to mountain trails and vistas. So much to see and do within one hour of your tranquil Trickey Pond hub.

About the host
Hosted by Lori Miller
My late husband and I bought our vacation home in March of 1990. We chose it based on the unique meandering layout, rustic character and proximity to either mountains or coastline within an hour’s drive. We had absolutely no clue how special that snow-covered site was until we made our first trip back from Philadelphia the following June. When we saw our gorgeous view (brilliantly blue Trickey Pond lapping up against our private waterfront with nothing but natural shoreline on the opposite side) we practically did cartwheels in our new back yard. I still feel that thrill – glee mixed with gratitude – when I first arrive, even after 32 summers.
Why they chose this property
Trickey Pond is renowned as one of Maine's cleanest lakes. The opposite shoreline is still wild and untouched as far as the eye can see. The road is paved and lined with homes, runners, walkers, cyclists, baby stroller-pushers...it's a real neighborhood and everyone's friendly. In contrast, the back yard is extremely private, while offering expansive views of the lake. The north end of the lake has 2 islands, one hosts a returning loon couple, the other has a rope swing only reachable by boat...or kayak...or canoe...or stand-up paddle board!
What makes this property unique
In the summer of 2021, the driveway and walkway were repaved, exterior re-stained, the last of the original windows updated and second-floor carpets replaced with plank flooring. On the lake side, grand stone steps to the water's edge were added to make pond access safer and easier. The distinctive steps are actually repurposed curbs from downtown Portland. This fall, 2022, I will upgrade the upstairs bathrooms.
