Stowe Country Homes
This cabin was close to everything we wanted to see and do. As far as the inside of the cabin it was really quaint. Kitchen had all we needed. The upstairs living room was very comfy. The bathroom upstairs has a jetted tub on a platform. Could be a fall risk if not careful. Only one TV in cabin. Located in basement living area. Listing indicated tv but did not specify that you needed your OWN streaming service to use it. Owner does not have cable for guests. Got that info in welcome email after booking.
Because we don’t have streaming we had no tv for week. Not even local channels using antenna. We had a great week exploring the area. The leaf colors were amazing!

Nice for the money
Very nice furniture and linens. Surprised to find a jetted tub in the master bathroom that wasn't in the property information. Also a fenced in pet area outside. House is a nice size and very clean. Nice appliances, though the cooking area is a little dark. The only negatives are the propane stove downstairs in the TV room doesn't work, there is only the one TV, the outlet for the coffee maker is worn out and is a fire hazard, and there are no fire extinguishers on the property even though there is a wood stove and a grill on a covered porch. As a career electrician and a firefighter, I guess I'm just a little paranoid :-)

Thank you for your feedback. Good news! We have had our inspectors into Aspen's Run and they are in the process of certifying the house based on the new Vermont Fire Safety and Health Certification Guidelines. Unfortunately the propane stove downstairs will not be functioning in the future. There is a wood stove upstairs.
As with anything there's good and bad about this property. The good was location -- midway between Stowe (with its tourist focused opportunities) and Morrisville (which is more of a locals place, where we spent a lot of time). The property is off the highway. So there was no road noise; although the neighbor pulling the kids around on a small tractor was kind of annoying. The house itself was okay. The bedrooms were well sized. And the kitchen appliances were practically brand new. There also wasn't an overabundance of chotchkas, which, after out last VRBO experience, can be kind of annoying.
Now for the problems, and why we won't be returning. There are a number of fundamental hazards in the house. The second floor bathroom has a whirlpool tub, which in theory sounds great, but it's installed on a platform presumably to accomodate the additional plumbing. When you add the high sides of a whirlpool tub with another half foot or so, it makes getting in and out to take a shower very difficult. Add to that tthe lack of grab bars, and it becomes downright dangerous. Also many of the electric outlets in the house are worn to the point where plugs don't fit snugly. This might explain why some people complained that lights didn't work. Finally, there is a giant hole in the wall behind the bed of the 2nd floor bedroom. I'd estimate that it is about 4' by 4'. While not a hazard, it is really creepy.

Disappointed
I want to begin by saying we had a wonderful time in Stowe. The property is on a beautiful piece of property. We were visited on 2 occasions by a bear and her 2 cubs. The location of the property was excellent, however the condition of the property was not as expected.
We have been renting properties with VRBO for years. This experience was very disappointing.
When we arrived it was very hot & humid (90 degrees) with several windows missing screens in the main living area. Also the ceiling fans in 2 of the bedrooms are very loud and unable to be used.
I contacted the rental office about some of the issues we noticed upon arrival. These issues were resolved.
There were light bulbs missing in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom, they were replaced that day.
There were only 2 chairs for outdoor seating (one was broken). The next day 4 chairs were delivered.
These issues were not resolved.
The ice dispenser was clogged, dumping ice all over the floor when we attempted to get ice. We were able to resolve this ourselves.
The appliance bulb in the refrigerator was burnt out, we had to use a flashlight to find items in the refrigerator during our entire stay.
Missing screens and noisy ceiling fans
These issues became apparent during the week and we didn’t communicate to the rental office.
The clothes dryer was not working.
The gas grill hasn’t been cleaned in quite some time. It was covered with pollen & a thick layer of grease.
The hand soap pumps in the 2 bathrooms and kitchen were nearly empty.
There was only one trash bag provided.
The wall clock in the living room is broken, we tried a new battery & it’s still not working.
I have shared this with the rental company managing the property directly, I haven’t received received any response.

Lacking the basics
The good:
Early checkin was made available.
Log cabin in the woods
Plenty of extra blankets
TV is in the basement
Working wood stove
The Improvements needed:
Needs a deep clean
Dishwasher top rack broken
Cookware/mixing bowls disgustingly dirty
1/2 rolls of Toilet paper-No extras
No hand soap/shampoo
2 dishwasher cleaning tablets
No dishwashing sponge to clean dishes
Kitchen sink is trashed
Coffee pot had burned/leftover coffee left in it
Propane stove in basement TV room not working
Fridge light not working
Beds are extremely firm
Overall we were not happy with this property. We rent various properties annually and understand how this works. We typically bring consumables if we intend on staying longer than 2 nights. In this case we just expected the basics to be provided for a 2 night stay. We paid a lot of money for this rental and it did not fulfill our expectations. If you have more than 2 people with you, make sure you pack supplies.
Not having the basic kitchen supplies was a problem as we rent a home so we can do our own food preparation and meals. The cookware was so dirty everything we attempted to use had to be thoroughly cleaned before using. What cleaning supplies were available made it difficult to manage the clean up.
The house needs a deep clean and some maintenance on items that are not working. Overall, I would not recommend the property in it's current state.
We loved cabin and the privacy view from front door is amazing only thing was the sinks and tubs need to be updated ther than that was very clean close to stowe
We stayed at the Aspen's Run last year and the place was not clean at all. There was mildew in the bathtub and kitchen. The beds were not comfortable, one the bed kept making sounds every time we moved which did not allow us to have a good night sleep. Some of the towels were not clean. The washer did not work and there was no laundry detergent as it was advertised. We reached out to the office, and we never received a call back. We were very disappointed and we will surely never rent this place or rent from this management company

We're very sorry you were unhappy with this home. Since we are receiving this review 12 months later, it is difficult to recall your complaint. SCH has a direct 24/7 service line, and we are always happy to do deliver new towels or do some extra cleaning if needed. We have never ignored an after hours call to our service. Aspens Run is a quintessential log cabin and we have been working hard this past year to keep it up to date. The washer is working.

Really enjoyed our stay.
Everything was as expected. As written in other reviews, the walls are paper thin so you hear everything and from the outside, looks tiny but inside there's plenty of room. We really enjoyed our stay. No negatives to report.

Beautiful house
The house is beautiful but is a little run down. Just minor things that could easily be fixed. There’s no shade on the downstairs bathroom, (we hung a towel so no one in the backyard could look in) the shower curtain was filthy, and a lot of the lights/lightbulbs were out.
Also the House wasn’t the cleanest unfortunately. There seemed to be dog hair everywhere including the couch and comforters. Not enough to ruin a vacation, but slightly irritating as they’re easy fixes when visitors are paying so much to stay.

Charming Vermont
It is a beautiful location with plenty of space and a good, functional kitchen.
As the other reviews state, there is no insulation in interior walls or the ceiling, so all noise travels well. It was difficult to connect many devices to the WiFi, but I know that they are working on this. The mattresses are very, very soft, which delighted some folks but gave others back pain.

Beautiful home with an amazing view of the mountains.
Aspen's Run was exactly what we were expecting. The home itself was clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The kitchen had a lot of essential and many items needed for cooking. The walls of the home are definitely thin and you can hear everyone, but we knew that when booking. The property itself was beautiful and we really enjoyed sitting around outside and appreciating the scenery. Overall, we truly enjoyed staying here and would definitely book again. Our only recommendations/suggestions is that the lawn was a little long when we stayed there and the property is beautiful enough that a little landscaping would go a long way. It would also be great to have a fire pit outside to sit around at night!

Just 5 minutes from Stowe
Great log cabin experience set in the countryside 5 miles from Stowe. The cabin was quiet, clean, tidy, well equipped and perfect for our needs. Easy access to all that Stowe has to offer and as we were there in the "fall " the views from the verandah wer stunning. Problems with the dishwasher but this was sorted out during our stay. There is a grill but the gas bottle was empty and the grill itself was filthy. This was our only real complaint

Beautiful cabin in a perfect location
When we first drove up to the cabin, my family wondered how we could all fit into it. But, once inside we discovered a spacious, clean, and beautiful log home with 3 lovely bedrooms and excellent queen beds. The kitchen was nicely appointed with enough supplies, a large refrigerator, good stove, and great long picnic-style table that accommodated all of us at the same time. The grounds around the home are lovely with a terrific view of the mountains as you drive down the road to the house. The location couldn't be better...a very short drive to town and groceries, but extremely quiet and dark at night (great for sleeping and viewing stars). Our only problem was that neither big screen television worked, so we watched a movie later in the evening on a tablet--a little small for 6 of us!
We are looking forward to renting this property again next year. There are many activities in town and in the surrounding areas, so we have a lot more to explore. We all agreed that we would love to come back and carry on where we left off.

Awsome Family Vacation
We have been renting homes in Stowe for more than 20 years for our annual family ski trip. This house was one of the best we have ranted. The house was beautiful had everything you need and clean. The property management company was wonderful very helpful easy check in and check out. We would definitely rent again and would recommend this rental.

Holiday Ski Stay
This home is in a beautiful setting, mountain views, close to Stowe and skiing. It has a nice layout, and nicely furnished rooms.
There were basic concerns that were disappointing. While a fireplace was listed as an amenity, there was no fireplace. There were 2 "heat"stoves...neither worked. One was fueled by wood, but there were no instructions on how to open the flew and a provided paragraph on that stove strongly urged tenants not to use it unless they had operated a stove just like it before and knew how to open the flew. The second stove was gas powered, but no apparent way to get it working and no mention of it at all in the house instructions. We have stayed in Homeaway rentals for years. We are savvy and resourceful in figuring these things out. We couldn't figure out either stove. Email regarding the stoves to Stowe Country homes, who operates the rental went unanswered.
Other concerns:
The walls are paper thin in this home. There was an actual opening in the wall from an upstairs bedroom to downstairs. The acoustics were as if it was one room.
One of 2 large elements on the stove didn't work.
Bring your own toilet paper.
These issues are easily addressed. Renting before with Homeaway we have always rented through the owners of the property. Perhaps a rental company doesn't have "eyes on" the property in the same way an owner might.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you were unable to reach Stowe Country Homes with any of your concerns. We are available 24/7 through our emergency phone line which is documented in your welcome packet upon your arrival and the welcome book in the property. The property is advertised with a gas stove downstairs and wood burning stove in the living area. Instructions for the use of both can also be found in the welcome book. At your recommendation, we have added some additional language how to open the flue. We do apologize for one of the burners not working. The owners have since replaced the entire stove appliance. Since the house is an authentic log cabin, interior insulation is not standard. Because of this feature, you can easily hear into the next room. Guests should consider this when booking. All Stowe Country Homes are stocked with a starter kit of supplies, consisting of 2 rolls of TP per bathroom, small shampoos, soaps, conditioners, paper towels, laundry and dishwasher soap, etc. Any additional supplies can be found at our local grocery stores. We would have been very happy to help with the two stoves during your stay of five days. I'm sorry you were unable to reach us, but our office was open throughout your stay and we do not have any record of you calling or emailing in. We welcome our guests to contact us when they have questions about the property they're staying or reporting an issue. I do hope you will return to stowe and try one of our properties in the future. We are very committed to excellent customer service. Sincerely, Stowe Country Homes
