Delightful, family owned, grade II listed cottage, 3 bedrooms - sleeps 7

Mill House is a Grade II listed building of historic interest. Ground floor rooms have beamed ceilings and all rooms overlook the Mill Pool.

The cottage is situated right by the Mill Pool, a non tidal creek off the River Dart estuary.

You enter the house through a stone porch, which leads into the living room with the kitchen off to you right.

There is a small garden at the rear and a paved terrace at the front where you can watch the world go by as well as any activities on the Mill Pool.

The cottage, while being very comfortable and ideal for a relaxing holiday, is also well suited for walking, fishing, or a sailing holiday and there are beaches, coastal and estuary walks, and Dartmoor nearby.

Please note: because it is an old cottage the stairs are quite narrow, so if you are unsteady on your feet you will need to take extra care.

Crabbing at the edge of the pool is a particular favourite.

A very relaxing atmosphere in an excellent location.

The property was clean, tidy and very well presented with all the equipment and inventory required for a relaxing stay. It suited us so much we even booked our next visit before completing this one.

We had a” lovely week in Mill House, it’s a very handy place to stay for the Mill pond and estuary , especially if you like paddle boarding or canoeing. House ideal for us as a family with dogs. Great stay.

Fabulous old cottage, fantastic location

My family and I had a lovely stay in Mill Cottage with great views of the mill pond and very close to the River Shack where we enjoyed meals and drinks. Stoke Gabriel is an idyllic Devonshire village and a must to go and visit! We had great weather which made the holiday even more enjoyable. Will definitely visit again!

Lovely cottage in a really nice location

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mill House , it was very clean and well looked after . It was set in an excellent location in a village close to 2 pubs and a shop and a lake / river just outside the door . A great place to stop to visit many places in South Devon . Would defiantly come back and stay again in the future .

Perfect!

We stayed for 4 nights and were very lucky to have the best weather possible for our trips on the river. We have stayed many times here and it feels almost like our own holiday house. It’s the perfect accommodation for us and the perfect location with water views from the house and now the addition of a lovely garden to sit in for meals.

Delightful cottage in an idyllic location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mill House. The whole booking process was extremely easy and clear instructions were given on how to gain access to the cottage along with helpful hints during our stay. The cottage is in a superb location with plenty to do, fantastic walks and of course the fun of crabbing and crossing the river on foot at low tide. The café opposite was a huge hit for 'sundowners' and ice-creams as well as enjoying dinner being cooked on hot stones. Mill House was perfect for our family of 6 (grandparents plus adult children) and it had everything we needed for a relaxing break. Delightful cottage, thank you.

6 of us stayed here for 4 nights. We hadn't booked too far in advance, so apprehensive as most other places we checked were booked out. However, the property was very impressive.. Set in a stunning location, it was far enough out of the way to be peaceful but within easy reach to most places with a short car journey. Pubs and shop within short walking distance. Short local walks were picturesque. The property was clean, spacious and well equipped. Rear garden needs improvement but the space in front of the property compensates. We would definitely return without question. Very impressed overall.

Upon arrival we found some areas of the house not as clean as we expected. The double bed could also use a new fitted sheet-it would appear to have shrunk over time.Overall our stay was very enjoyable and we loved the restaurants in the area. We did have a problem with the shower but Struan was “on it” and it was fixed as soon as possible. Thank you.

Und wieder könnten wir sechs Sterne ****** vergeben für eine tolle, helle und moderne Ferienwohnung mit einem super Blick aufs Meer. Die Wohnung ist klimatisiert. Am Abend sitzt man mit einem Glas Wein auf dem Balkon mit Blick aufs Meer, toll. Die Vermieter sind wie Familie und haben uns " gepampert " und uns ein rundum Wohlfühlpaket geboten. Das Meer ist nicht sehr tief, geht max. bis zum Oberkörper und der Strand ist schön. Wir waren nun zum zweiten Mal dort und sind 2026 wieder da. Vielen Dank an Miriam, Konstantin und Michael.

The Mill House

Our family of 5 had a wonderful short break at the Mill house. I can't fault it. It was clean and welcoming and had all that was needed for our stay. It's situated in a beautiful part of devon and wish we had the weather to enjoy the coastline, unfortunately it rained right through. We will definitely be returning in the summer.

The property was a lot smaller than anticipated, it was cozy for 4 adults and 2 teenagers but it was lovely. The location was amazing, we loved the mill pond and the little village. The kitchen was well equipped and clean and the garden was a great space to relax. The beds were comfortable but I do think the pillows is the master bedroom are in need of replacing. Also we noticed a faint drain smell in the bedroom after flushing the toilet in the en-suite. This didn’t ruin our stay though. Overall we would definitely recommend the Mill house.

Lovely house, great place to stay. Newly fitted bathrooms. Kitchen a little cramped for 7. Location is great, especially if you have kids that enjoy crabbing! Two restaurants and two pubs within easy walking distance.

Perfect spot

The cottage was spacious and clean with a good kitchen. Location was wonderful, across the way from the Mill Pool and very quick walk to the village shop and two great pubs
