About this property
Relax in this comfy Log Cabin after your short walk back from the beach
4 bedroom, 2 full bath cottage. Large kitchen with 2 dining tables (seats 12+), open to the living room. Living room has 2 couches with Smart TV (internet capable to access your Netflix or other streaming accounts). The sunroom porch has a couch and a queen size, double height, self inflating mattress. This also serves as a second Smart TV room. Master bedroom has a queen size bed, Smart TV and a full bath attached. 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds, 3rd bedroom has a twin bed plus a twin bunk bed. 4th bedroom has a single twin.
There is a very large yard for the kids and two decks for lounging. The back deck has a table & chairs for outdoor meals or just relaxing. There is an outdoor grill. We keep the mosquitoes under control, so the out doors areas are very usable!
Drakes Island is a great family location with only residential properties and a long sandy beach. An easy 5 minute walk to the beach means no parking fees, the flexibility to easily come and go to the beach and lots of choices that do not require a car.
The Drakes Island Association clubhouse, playground and tennis courts offer many organized activities for kids of all ages.
Visitor Memberships may be obtained by tenants who are renting a Drakes Island property. The price is VERY reasonable (in 2024 a family membership is $30 for 1 week or $50 for 2 weeks). This membership carries the same privileges as a permanent resident membership and allows you to have your kids participate in the Kids Day Camps and to reserve the tennis courts (small extra fee for tennis and kids camp).
Please go to the Drakes Island Associations website at DIIA.org for details and the membership forms.
Bring your bikes to ride along the quiet residential streets. A permanent land bridge from Drakes Island to route 1 makes for easy access to shopping, restaurants, and movies on the main land.

About the host
Hosted by Loretta E Hoglund

My father's family started vacationing on Drakes Island in 1913 and fell in love with it. So far, 5 generations of our family have come every summer since then. No matter how far away parts of our family have moved, we all come 'home' every summer to recharge and commune with nature.
Why they chose this property
This is the original cottage my parents started out with in 1956 and where I grew up when I lived on Drakes Island every summer. My brother owned the cottage after my parents passed away and we have now purchased the cottage from my brother.
