Delightful cottage in beautiful setting. Very comfortable with a lovely feel to the house. Great kitchen. We were party of 8 and had plenty of room without the house feeling overly big. Had the best mussels and fresh fish delivery from Fynest Fish and wonderful walks. Very much recommend Glenan Bay woodland walks (by Portavadie) and Kilfinan community woodland (at Tighnabruich).
The property was in a lovely location on the edge of Kames, on a hill with fabulous views north across the Kyles of Bute.Communication with the property owner was excellent and always helpful. The directions given were spot on.The house was extremely well equipped. We enjoyed relaxing in the upstairs room watching the scenery change with the weather. There were some good walks in the area and Kames was a lovely village with a good shop/post office. The Kames Hotel had a good menu and service was friendly and efficient ( make sure you book especially on a Friday. Further afield it was easy to visit Bute (nice castle in Rothesay) and Kilmartin Glen (highly recommend for the museum and visiting the cairns/standing stones/rock art in the area).Highly recommend this property, we had a great stay.
Four Winds was a great base for walking and kayaking. Recommend visiting Otter Ferry for supper and crabbing. Lots of wildlife, good place for bird watching, loved the room upstairs for the view and board games. Very well equipped kitchen, homely feel to the house. We were lucky to have fabulous weather, not what I was expecting on my first visit to Scotland. Great. Thank you
Nice place for a vacation with bigger family/group
Very nice and remote place. The house is in a nice little village with a small shopping store and an award winnnig restaurant (Tide and Thyme). The kitchen in the house is well equipped, so that cooking for bigger groups is fun! We enjoyed our stay!
This is a fantastic property. So well located for all that the Cowan peninsula has to offer (lots), and such a great property. It really is ‘home from home’, probably the best we have stayed in in terms of being so well equipped.
Whilst there were only two of us staying, it is such a vast property that you could easily fit 2 families in and not feel squashed.it is so warm and cosy and just has a lovely feel to it.
We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough; the owners clearly care about their guests and want you to love it as much as they do.
My mother was 92yrs old whilst we stayed & relaxed at the beautiful Four Winds property in Kames, we all agreed it was perfect and we would like to return, thanks x
A nice comfortable house, well equipped in a beautiful location.
The view from the upper lounge was wonderful and the outside
Barn was a great diversion for our two boys.
We were all sorry to leave.
Great location, fantastic views, we absolutely loved upstairs, had the perfect meal at tide & thyme , also the takeaway was awesome , local shops well stocked, so being far from a supermarket wasn't a problem, took a ferry to tarbert, which was a great day out, weather was perfect, all in all fabulous, Thank you Adrian for phoning to make sure all was OK, brilliant hosts
The most amazing holiday property. Stunning location and the property itself was spotless and so very well equipped - above and beyond expectations. Host Adrian communicated faultlessly with us before and during our stay to check everything was ok. Would recommend this property in a heartbeat!
House has everything we could need, kitchen very well equipped, table tennis and darts for the kids plus lovely spacious relaxing areas with beautiful views across to Bute. Easy to go across to Tarbert on ferry to explore that direction or to goto Isle of Bute. Great hosts with excellent communication throughout. Thanks for a fab two weeks, we will be back :-)

A wonderful week in Kames
The house was superb. Excellent spacious accommodation for the 6 of us plus a dog, 3 cars and a boat!
The upstairs lounge with its very large picture windows, had the most wonderful of views out over the Kyle.
We found plenty of places nearby to eat and drink. The Kames Hotel in particular needs mention.
The youngest guest was 17, so having two living rooms, a games room and a kitchen diner where we could all easily cater and cook was ideal. Very well-appointed and more than thoroughly equipped. It was all very comfortable from the cosy downstairs TV lounge to the bright and airy upstairs viewing lounge. We appreciated having three en-suites and a bathroom. This is a very well tended property.
Our family enjoyed a peaceful week at Four Winds in the quiet Kames area of Scotland (west highlands). We would gladly return!
The house was reassuringly clean when we arrived, and it was equipped with everything we needed to manage comfortably: great kitchen, bathrooms, and sitting areas, plus washer/drier, board games, DVDs, books, maps, ping pong table, fenced garden and parking area.
The views of fields, village, and loch were lovely, and the host was wonderfully communicative before our arrival and afterwards. We ate some good meals in town and enjoyed visiting local beaches and forest trails.
We needed a car to get there and travel the area, but we saw many cyclists, walkers, and sailors as well. Enjoy!

A beautiful home away from home
We had a lovely family holiday, complete with dogs at this wonderful home in Kames. Even with 8 and dogs in the house it never felt crowded and the upstairs living room was a huge hit and not just because of the beautiful views! Add to that the best equipped kitchen, the games room and en-suite in 3 of the bedrooms and you get an idea of just how excellent Four Winds is. Everything is thought of and presented in a really classy way. Overall, excellent!
Superb property, equipped to the highest standard with everything you need, in a great setting. We enjoyed a weeks stay in October and had a great family holiday. We had a treat one morning watching deer run right past the house. Shame about the weather, but we didn’t let it stop us getting out and about., the dogs loved it too. We also enjoyed a meal at the Kames hotel, the food was excellent and the nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who made us and the dogs more than welcome. Highly recommend Four Winds.

Second stay at Four Winds
Our second visit to this home proved every bit as good as the first one and we had good weather and opportunities for good walks and to enjoy the magnificent views form the house. Improvements have been made, though we thought it would be hard to improve on the near perfect, and the addition of an area for table tennis and darts seems a great idea as dry weather is not always guaranteed in the West of Scotland. All in all we had a wonderful week and would certainly like to think that we will return again at some point.
This property is a home from home. It is extremely well equipped with all the cooking equipment needed to make meals for 8 adults and lots of extras - hand wash, lots of dishwasher tabs, rinse aid etc.
3 bedrooms have en -suite and the 4th is opposite the main bathroom.
The loft area is fantastic and provided a tranquil area for my daughter to work from home while downstairs the sitting room with tv and glorious large kitchen with utility room had a huge table which could easily seat 10 and a high chair.
There is also a barn with table tennis , darts and swing ball.
The views are perfect and lots of advice about where to eat in this beautifully unspoilt part of Scotland.
We had an amazing stay at Four winds it was a total home from home and the owners had thought of absolutely everything you would ever need while staying there.
Communication was second to none.
We had an amazing time exploring the marina and Kilbride bay ( best beach ever and worth the walk )
Lots to explore in this beautiful part of the country and a lovely trip up from Glasgow with lots of breathtaking scenery.
We couldn’t recommend this property enough as we had three generations staying there and plenty of room for us all to meet together or spend time apart.
Thank you for letting us have a wonderful holiday in your home.
