This private garden condo is on the second floor of the north side of the building ...about 60 steps along the pathway leads to the gem of south Maui, Keawakapu Beach!

Keawakapu Beach, located on the south shore of Maui, Hawaii, is known for its stunning natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere. This picturesque beach is a favorite spot for locals and return visitors and features soft golden sand, clear waters, and lush greenery surrounding the area. It's a great spot for families to swim, snorkel, and sunbathe, and watch the sun set at the end of the day.

Located on the second floor of Hale Hui Kai, this newly restored two bedroom / two bathroom condo has a comfortable spacious design along the north side of building with a tropical garden view. The master bedroom has a king bed and an ensuite bathroom. The guest bedroom has two twin beds, which can be converted to king bed (upon request and approval). Kitchen includes modern appliances and granite countertops and a space dedicated for a desk/workspace.

Newly installed split system AC, one high efficiency unit in the living room and one unit for each bedroom. At this beachfront property we provide beach towels, beach chairs, and a beach cooler. We suggest renting beach toys (such as a beach umbrella, snorkel gear, paddle boards, boogie boards, etc) from one of the many rental companies on Maui.

Hale Hui Kai is a beloved location among first time visitors and repeat guests. There is a small shared oceanfront pool next to the common area covered lanai, which is equipped with comfortable lounge space for guests to enjoy when you need a break from the Maui sun.

Our only issue was that one of the showers didn't work. Unfortunately, the plumber wasn't sure if he might have to open the wall, so we opted to not have it fixed while we were there.

The kitchen had everything we needed except maybe a little more silverware. The hid-abed was very comfortable. We love the outdoor areas with the large lanai with couches that faces the ocean. Nice place to watch the whales. We do prefer to be on the east side of the building with a view. We like Cafe o Lei for their fish lunch special.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: So we've been develop you this phone number of times now. The rentals can be pretty hit or miss. This one is largely updated, like maybe 5 years behind in style, but comfortable and and furniture largely makes sense together. Air conditioning is a big deal. I slept much better on this trip then my last. The windows have been upgraded to double pane so they hold the cool air in. We encountered approximately daily one or two. Smallish cockroaches which I wish we had not. Hopefully they'll do something to improve that, but it may be just par for the course in such a tropical location.The fans in the bathroom are key to drying out your swim clothing and towels in relatively short order. Overall, I'd say good rental. Only material improvement would be of you of the beach which is not really possible.

We have two small kiddos and the unit was really easy to kidproof, even with a glasstop table and coffee table. The beach gear was great, especially the umbrella. Everything was easy to access. Some minor minuses: we were surprised there was just one cutting board. The AC was giving off a weird musty smell for a bit when restarted and at times was putting out a funky almost urine like odor in the main bedroom. I called the management number during business hours about the smell and left a voicemail, but never heard back.

It's not a solid door so you can hear EVERYTHING from the entry of the unit next door in the main bedroom which is really annoying and disturbs sleep. If you look up from the bed you can see the dust on the picture frames. The smell of perfume / fragrance was really strong. We had to get used to it. The fans and lightswitches were very dirty and gross. I cleaned the light switches and ac remotes myself with clorox wipes. Recleaned bathrooms and kitchen as well. Sticky stuff on counters in kitchen. We were pretty grossed out. The whole place could use some fresh carpeting and furniture. Glass everything is terrifying with kids. Besides that - we made due, Kihei is beautiful. It's right on the water and the convenience of that makes it all worth it. THANK YOU for bringing the extra towels. We definitely did not have the 8 we were supposed to have and that helped a lot. We had a blast despite the cleanliness issues. Would go again but find a different unit.

The complex itself is perfectly positioned, with nightly sunsets an easy view from the common area. The trip was stress-free :-)

The unit was nicely decorated. The mattresses are so hard and uncomfortable. The room with the twins could easily fit Twin XL's so an adult can sleep on them. The king room mattress was hard as well. We had 4 adults and all were NOT comfortable on the beds. Replace those mattresses and we would rent the unit again.

Unit 205 Review

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is fantastic and the property grounds and pool were well kept and cleaned daily. The unit we stayed in was ok, we did not spend a lot of time in the unit. The balcony was not great to sit out on because of the location next to the dumpsters of the property next door so there were funky smells when the breeze was not blowing, and the view was not great. The unit itself could also use more pots, pans, cooking utensils, glasses, plates, etc. For a family of 4 there was the bare minimum to get through one meal so we spent a lot of time washing dishes after a meal to have a glass,fork, and plate to use for our next meal. It felt excessive to run the dishwasher after every meal for barely a full load. The AC unit in the living room circulated air, but did not provide cool air, the bedroom AC units worked. There were ants in the kitchen so we had to store food in the fridge or the microwave, the ant traps did not seem to be working. Also, more beach towels would be nice or at least have an option to exchange them for clean ones, instead of having to pay to wash and dry them ourselves using the onsite coin laundry. If there is a towel exchange on the property it would be nice if this were noted in the property handbook. If we visit again, I do not think I would stay in this particular unit.

The beach access doesn’t get any better. There was always something to watch on the water either from the lawn area or the shaded covered lounge area. We found the parking stalls very narrow; fortunately we had rented a small car.We found the decor of the unit very tasteful and as described. One side note... the carpets need replacing as well as the lanai furniture cushions. The number of dishes was adequate for two people but would have been scarce for anymore folk.
