This is a "Pay it Forward" cabin, I did my part you do yours, "Thank You"
Cabin is approximately 700 square feet. It has a living room with a foldout couch (double), a bedroom with a queen bed, and a bedroom with a double bed. There are curtains at each doorway for privacy.
THERE IS A CENTRAL BATHHOUSE AND An Outhouse located on the property that can be used by all guests in the Cottontail, Thumper and Rabbit Den, The Wild Hare has its own bathroom yet when the water is shut off in the winter months the guests can use the outhouse or bathhouse. The Bathhouse is attached at the end of the yellow timed cabin (Cottontail). It has one shower, one toilet and a sink. There is also an outhouse located at the opposite end of the property (see property layout) for those not wanting to wait for the toilet at the bathhouse. PLEASE, be respectful of all guests and leave clean. Please remind children to do the same.
Off-season 'Winter' is when water is shut off to the cabin and Bathhouse.
This is from Oct 15th till Approx till May 1st.
If the water has been shut off to the cabin, verify water is still on at the Bathhouse that is attached to the Cottontail.
'LEAVE AS FOUND OR BETTER'
THIS IS YOUR HOME AND OTHERS' IN THE MOUNTAINS.
WOOD BOX IS FULL AND READY FOR NEXT GUEST.

If the floor is wood then sweep, there are brooms and dust pans for you to use. If the floor is carpet then use the vacuum.

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! IT IS NICE TO SHARE MY PLACE WITH OTHERS.
I do have internet upon request, I want people to spend time together not by texting but by bonding as the old days. I will give you the password but I do not want down loading movies or streaming music, it will slow or shut down from overuse, business only.
"Do not give to children tell them to play games,puzzles,catch/kick ball, enjoy the out doors"

"Fire wood is available for purchase on the property for outside fires"
Each cabin is fully furnished with refrigerator, microwave, popcorn popper, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, coffeepot, toaster, electric hot plates, electric skillets, crock pot, and other misc. kitchen equipment. NO Full Size Oven in this cabin, only cabin with oven is Wild Hare and the Little Dome.
Outside there is a gas grill and a fire pit.
The bathhouse is SHUT DOWN for the winter till April or May, there is an old-time outhouse without running water for your bathroom needs, there's no running water in any of the cabins. There is a hose bib to get water for cooking and washing dishes, we have a bucket under the kitchen sink that you will need to dump.
You can still rent the cabins and go to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs only 5 minutes away (1.5 miles) down the valley for soaking and swimming.

For Water, there is a well on the property, but I suggest you bring a few gallons of drinking water, if you do not like well water. The well is shown on the property layout.

Cabin price based on 2 people all extra guests and pets are $10 more per night. Make sure you verify all before arrival. This is your home and others in the mountains, surprises are good but not the type that is to sneak one over on Jeff or the other guests on the property. Like you tell me one pet and got 5 , or one guest and I arrive to find a tent and a camper. Thank You,,All and Jeff
If you bring extra guests (people or pets) and did not include when booking it is best you inform Jeff immediately and /or use the drop box on the property located at Jeff's house. If you do not inform Jeff/use the drop box , you will be charged double when leave. This will come out of your damage deposit. That is $20 per night for each and not $10. HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY. (OR) you will lose your deposit. I am tired of people not the pets trying to get over on me and me letting it happen. It took two many years to fix these places up, never getting paid and now, I just wanted to be treated as I ask. Thank You Jeff and all honest guests!
In the off season (Approx. Nov 1. to Approx. May 1)the water is shut off to the Thumper , Rabbit Den and Wild Hare cabins. The water is kept on at the bathhouse and the Cottontail.
Verify that water is on or off as in the winter things can change, Welcome to the mountains.

Born a carpenter wanted to be a mechanic, ended up an electrician and now hospitality manager. :)
Where to start, hhmm, how time goes bye, Someone once told me, You know when you start this, you are going to have to deal with people. I told them, "No", people will have to deal with me, my place my rules".
Some of my favorite sayings,
1. Ignorance is Temporary, Attitude is forever
2. Forgiveness is the fragrance the flower left upon the foot that trampled it into the
ground.
3. Engage brain before opening mouth
I was born and raised in this area and still growing up. I look at these cabins as my babies and my guests my children. I have done my part now my children take care of my babies and together they take care of me. Sounds good coming from someone that was never a parent, I think that would be the dream of a parent. Having children that you know are respected by many for just being what they are, everyone involved with them know they will take care of you and you will take care of them.
This reminds me of my theory on working, Surround yourself with good people, they will take care of you and you will take care of them, which will make every ones life better.
A break down of my life, high school in Buena Vista, then the Marine Corp and volunteer for every thing that came up, overseas duty, jungle survival, etc. Once out of USMC, got into construction, houses, schools, power plants, Telluride Airport, pump stations, fresh water and waste water plants, etc. Then projects in Hawaii, Kuai, top of Mauna Kea, volcano national park, Kuai missile range, then Johnston Atoll Chemical burn facility, Adak , Alask, then Micronesia, Diego Garcia in the Indian ocean and much more.
Then on my own to Russia, Costa Rica, Belize, Jamaica, Colombia, Panama, etc.
A few years back, New Zealand, couch surf, hitch hike then rent a car, freedom camping, picking up all hitchhikers and taken them wherever they wanted to go.
Life is truly what you make it, ;) Jeff

Why they chose this property
Location, Location, Location
When I bought this place I saw the potential it had, just as I see in people.
When I bought this place I just got out of the Marines, well 2 years after I got out and had already learned carpentry from my dad, electric from another, plumbing from my uncle and the ability to see from my mother that do not expect anything to be given to you.
My Uncle drove out here and said I heard you bought this boy, I said, Yes. He asked what I was going to do with it. I told him fix this( My house) place up then that one(Cottontail) and rent it out then possibly that one(Rabbit Den or Lodge) and then that one(Thumper) and I am not sure about that one(Wild Hare). I said, What do you think or see, Chet? He said , you really want to know what I see. I said , Sure. He said, All I see is a lot of work. I chuckled and after 35 years still chuckling and working . That is why I say I did my part , you do yours. I do not need no more work. I traveled around the planet working, came home and worked then left again to work. People say, you are so lucky going to Hawaii, I said yes 6 days a week 10 to 12 hours a day, well, life is what you put into it and you get out what you put in if everything goes good. The Filipinos once asked me, What is your favorite beer? I said , Free beer. So they laughed and said so free beer is your favorite? I said,, hhhmmm ,"No". They asked what is better than free beer? I said . "Cold , Free beer."
I like people with a good attitude in life so if I can bring them around me , even if I never meet them I know their good attitude and positive energy will part of this place.
Thank You all for reading my words , if you come here great, just know. I created this place or brought it back to life for all to enjoy and take care of, so it can take care of all of us, I did my part you do yours. Cheers "Semper Fi", "Pura Vida", "Aloha"

What makes this property unique
Meeting other people that wanted a place in the mountains to get away from the hussel and bussel of the city, someone with similar interests and the respect as you or not meeting anyone, just relax and do whatever you want. You have access to just about everything, high lakes, trails or bushwhacking, fishing in the lake 200 yards away or the creek. The Colorado trail goes through the property so you take off from here on your mountain bike or just do some real good day hikes or morning/evening hikes up the old railroad grade. Got to St, Elmo the historic ghost town, where you can just think about what went on 100 plus years ago. Also feeding the chipmunks in the summer time is a highlight to many.
Go to the hot springs , Mt. Princeton or Cottonwood hot springs, Mt Princeton is more like a resort but has soaking pools in the creek that are nice during low water, a water slide, and 3 pools , where Cottonwood has a different look on things like clothing optional after dark.
Once here you will do as you want, plans will change and the time will slip past , so keep that in mind. Make some plans but do whatever you want, go rock hounding, rafting, hike a mountain, set and stare, a drive to Aspen and back, go to the local pubs and art stores or get a broom and brush of the spider weds or pick up branches, wash some windows, play some horse shoes, star gaze at night, walk to the lake and do a canon ball, dive in and swim across a true wake up call. Feed your wild side , roast some marshmallows, make smores, all good this is your home in the mountains, Enjoy
