About the host
Hosted by Lee Whitley

The Whitley family is from eastern North Carolina. Our parents were from small towns near Wilson and Greenville and we grew up in New Bern and Atlantic Beach was always where we went to the beach as our grandfather had a trailer at the old Iron Steamer Fishing Pier near Pine Knoll shores
East Carolina is a common thread in our family as our mother graduated in the 1940's. Gail, the oldest got her masters in education from ECU, Linda graduated in the early 1980's in speech pathology and Lee graduated in 1983 in business and more recently our daughter Reagan graduated in 2021. We are all scattered around now but still love to visit as much as we can.

Why they chose this property
This is just a special place. While it is not new or luxurious by today's standards we continually upgrade each unit in the off-season to make improvements each year.
You can walk when others have to drive. Go to the pier for a walk or beverage or when you are hungry. When dinner time arrives you can walk to numerous restaurants but try Amos Mosquito's and the Island Grill as they both are outstanding and just blocks away.
The location is also outstanding in that when you come over from Morehead City you turn left at the light while in season everyone else struggles towards Pine Knoll Shores or Emerald Isle. You go a few blocks and turn right on Money Island Drive, then go to the end of the street and turn left and ours is the green just down Glenn Street.

What makes this property unique
Great fishing, surfing and a big wide beach with huge dunes I have built over the years by putting our Christmas trees in January of each year! We spent way too much money building our new deck so you can enjoy yourself overlooking the beach and pier. Our end of the beach is very wide, clean, safe and relatively uncrowded even in season. Since the Island is East/West facing you get outstanding sunsets and sunrises if you choose. If you want high rises and tons of entertainment, go to Myrtle Beach. If you want old style family beach with single family homes behind the dunes and clean uncrowded beaches, you have come to the right place!
