About this property

Perfect for the single family

No Refunds for Labor Day Weekend. 3 Day Rental Minimum $250 per night

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
The cabin is set up for a family of 4. 2 adults and a few kids is perfect! 1 queen bed in the master and twin bunk beds in the guest bedroom. If more then 4 people you must provide your own bedding and linens. Absolutely NO pets!!! Soda Springs is directly in between highway 80 and the Sierra Railroad System. Although the cabin is rebuild with modern sound dampening technology (windows and insulation) you still hear the sounds of both the highway 80 and Sierra railway system. This is true for all of Soda Springs, Serene Lakes, Kingvale, Truckee.

The Walkers Chalet is a modern 900 sf, 2 bd, 1.5 bth family cabin on a 10,000 sf lot, so close to the ski resorts you can hear the grooming machines. The cabin is set up for a family of 4 comfortably but can sleep more. One bedroom has twin bunk beds with a cot couch while the other bedroom has a queen bed. Also we priced our cabin for a family of 4 to be able to afford it. We don't encourage multi families. No cable tv but has free wifi with Netflix and Amazon instant video played through the Sony dvd player. on a 50' HD big screen. No dishwasher, washer dryer or ice maker. A fresh bag of ice is provided. It is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. It has a big front deck for enjoying the fresh mountain air with Adirondack chairs, propane fire pit and a bbq grill.

Great stay for snowboarding trip
This was perfect for our trip up to sugarbowl for snowboarding. Clean cozy and close to the slopes. Will stay again, and Trevor was beyond helpful and responded quickly to any questions I had.

Lake Tahoe Ski Vacation
This property was perfectly located for our ski trip on north shore of Lake Tahoe. Trevor was extremely accommodating with an eminent snow storm arriving and allowing an early check-in. The house was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked allowing us to cook meals. There were even Moscow Mule mugs for our favorite cocktail. We would stay here again and higly recommend this location!

Hospitality Galore!!!
We have stayed in many vacation homes and Trevor (the owner) is by far the most friendly and helpful. The day of our arrival he went to the house and turned on the heater and all of the lights in case we arrived after dark. We didn't tell him we would arrive late, he did this kind gesture on his own, just in case. And this is only one example. He answers questions quickly and you never feel like you are bothering him. His house is immaculate, well stocked, and the furnishings and decor are up to date. It was obvious that Trevor has gone out of his way to make this vacation house feel like a home. There were condiments and things like coffee and creamer available, nice bath towels, scented candles, bath soap, games to play, movies to watch, a sled outside, etc...little things like this make a big difference and really do make you feel taken care of. We have stayed at homes where we had to buy everything... things like paper towels, napkins, toilet paper...you get the point. Not having to haul half of our kitchen or immediately go to the store when we arrived was great!!! The location is awesome too! We were literally around the corner from Soda Springs Resort (less than 1/2 a mile up the same road) and 15-20 minutes away from Truckee. It is very close to highway 80 and easy to find (and the snow was so high we could not see the road signs or much of the driveways). Thank you Trevor for the memorable stay. We will definitely be back! Shaun :)

Perfect family getaway
We visited for the first time in late March 2019. The snow was piled up to the top of the main floor windows and we walked up a flight of ice stairs to reach the main deck level! The snowy winter season made way for excellent spring skiing and we loved the heaps of snow. Moreover, the A-Frame cabin was the perfect home for an extended ski weekend for our family of four. The place is loaded with charm, blending the old Tahoe and Sierra Nevada history with great modern amenities. This was evident in the kitchen, the family room, the well crafted wet bar, and in the upstairs bedrooms. The owner was incredibly accommodating and very responsive if we had any questions. We will definitely come again many times to visit.

About the host

We found this wonderful place for sale and with a lot of luck and hard work we turned it into our happy place! We call it 'The Hoot' because every time we come up here we have such a hoot!!!

Why they chose this property

We picked this property because it is so close to home. We always hop in the car in the evening from the East Bay SF and we are here in 2.5hrs even with a restroom break! This cabin is a hoot... Winter, Summer, Spring or Fall!

What makes this property unique

Just a few miles from 5 major ski resorts and close to all amenities Lake Tahoe has to offer. Neighborhood streets and driveway plowed daily when snow is present. General store is a short beautiful walk down the end of the block.
