About this property

Blue - Outstanding Views Right On The Gulf of Mexico on Blue Mountain Beach

Best view EVER! This 1950’s old, Florida beach cottage sits right on the beach in beautiful Blue Mountain, (also the highest spot on 30A). Pompano and Red Fish can be caught off the shore almost year-round here, and if surfing is your “thing” then Blue Mountain Beach is also the first real surf spot on scenic highway 30A. A handful of diehard locals surf the spot religiously.

This rusticly sweet and very popular 4 bedroom, 2 bath beach cottage is walking distance to the local health food store, For the Health of it, and Los Lobos organic bakery and café; great places for filling your picnic basket and grabbing a homemade juice or smoothie to go. In fact, if you haven’t tried Los Lobos yet, we warn you that healthy addictions will occur, from the chocolate puddle cookies to the gluten and dairy free chocolate cake, to the awesome veggie burritos and more! Johnny McTighe’s Irish pub is also across the street offering some of the best pizza and sandwiches on the “A” and of course, the Blue Mountain Creamery for the kids in all of your beach crew.

So, if you and your family or friends are looking for a casual, laid back beach vacation, Blue is the perfect spot for you!

Sleeps 8: 2 Queen, 2 Twin, Daybed with trundle, vintage beach home.

Blue Mountain Beachfront home

This is the PERFECT place for the family. We took my grandson and it was a great week. Right on the beach. Perfect location perfect amount of room. It is an older home but that actually brought back memories of when I was a child and would go on vacation. Air not great but we made the best of it. Definitely will rent again!!!

Spacious with an awesome view

Great spot with direct access to the beach. Kitchen and living areas were well equipped and all appliances were working correctly. Air conditioning worked well and all rooms were equipped with ceiling fans. Beds were not very firm and not to our taste. Internet was not working upon our Saturday arrival and did not become available until Tuesday. Dropped offline again on Friday afternoon. Management told us that several other properties were also offline. They said the ISP was the only service available but in all our previous years' stays in Blue Mountain Beach in another property we never once had a problem. We also had a problem with roaches and killed at least a dozen and found droppings on the dishes in the cabinet. Reported the problem to management and they offered to spray. I declined because I did not want the smell of pesticide. Would love to stay here again but will need to see some positive reviews before I will repeat.

You Get What you Pay For

The location of the home is excellent. Great views and extra-convenient beach access. In our minds, we were thinking that this would be a "time capsule" property with plentiful nostalgia, however, we were a bit surprised to find that it was minimally maintained and poorly cleaned (trash under the beds and an unbelievable amount of debris in the couch cushions, to name a few). The bathroom faucet required repair while we were there and there were several other maintenance opportunities that we simply let go due to our short time there over a long weekend. Top to bottom, it was not what we expected even at a very inexpensive price for the area. If someone were inclined to do so, this could be a wonderful time piece preserving the old-school feel of a Blue Mountain cinder block house. This, however, is a long way from that. We had a good time, but will go elsewhere next time.

Nice older home, has a few quirks

The photos need to be updated especially the exterior. There is now construction going on where this photo shows an open space beside the house. The construction is 3 stories high and looms over the house. The interior was very clean and functional. A few odd things.: There was an air leak around the front door and when the wind blew, it made quite a mournful whistle. To access the bathrooms you must go through a bedroom so if anyone is using the 4th bedroom, they do not have direct access to a bathroom. There is a water spigot with hose on the outside of the house to clean up after a beach walk, unfortunately, it is on the far corner of the home and you have to walk through grass with burrs to access it. The fix was a bucket of water by the door to dip sandy feet in. It was nice to be in a stand alone house but the location is packed with condos and giant beach homes surrounding it. It was cold during our Christmas stay but there were still a good number of folks walking the beach. I can't imagine how crowded it would be with good weather. Overall we did enjoy our stay because who can't love the beach.

Not what we had hoped

The people at Dune Realty were very nice and pretty easy to work with. There was one time when I did not get a response, but overall they were fine. The house needs some work. I can appreciate the 50's style, but it does need work. We had to clean the ice box because there was something growing in there. The dryer didn't dry clothes until after 2 or three runs. The grill was really rusted! I was concerned about cooking on it, so we had to use foil. There were bugs coming out of the drain in the private bathroom. There wasn't any room to put any of our shampoos and soaps for the shower and sink, making it hard to shower without leaving water all over the place. The plumbing needs serious updating. Some nice patio furniture would make the patio more welcoming and comfortable-like all of the other houses around this one. The house was nicely stocked with everything we needed, however, that left little space for the things we needed to purchase and bring. The beach side of the house could use some love. It seems like such a wasted space with very little furniture and all the prickly plants. I feel like we overpaid for the house that we got, it really needs some updating and care. The view was amazing! I loved being close to the water and beach. This made up for some of the problems above. I wish we would have known there was a side storage with sand toys and other items for our use when we got there. We happened to find it while sitting at the picnic table. We rented bikes one day and that was amazing. The area is a bit busier than we like, but it was still a pretty good fit for us. The weather was beautiful and we still made the best of it, but we would not return to this house.
