Perfect spot for two people to enjoy the best of the Big Island. Beautiful area and beautiful accommodations. The sunsets from the lanai were particularly amazing.

it would be better with us senior if there was a grab bar next to the toilet and a long grab bar along the side of the shower. Safety issue to prevent falls.

The location was just as expected. Ocean front but not easy to enter the ocean from the property. This is a nice beach cottage but could use some TLC. Shade would be wonderful for the outside seating areas. There are no comfortable chairs to sit in. Cushions were worn out or missing. Maybe they could add a few hooks to the kitchen and bathroom.

Hello Janet! We are sorry to hear that our cottage did not live up to your expectations. We do keep the trees trimmed to keep the view nice and clear. ( This was done very recent to your arrival) We also hope you were able to set up the umbrella for some help with shade? But yes Puako is a bright and sunny destination and very well known as such! Thank you for the suggestion that you made for more hooks in the bathroom and kitchen, we appreciate that. As a side note; the Cottage is an original structure as close to the ocean you can possibly get and it does get rather weathered; we do try to stay accurate in our descriptions and we have a very high rate of return guests - We truly apologize that we did not meet the standard that you were expecting. Housekeeping did not note any missing cushions- normally we do not overlook such details so this is very odd and will be remedied immediately. Authentic Hawaiian

We truly enjoyed our stay at this authentic Hawaiian paradise. It was very comfortable, relaxing and it provided all the extras that we needed to enjoy our time there. We look forward to visiting Big Island while staying at this magical place again.

Great Stay

The cottage is exactly as described on the website, and had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Sitting on the deck and watching the whales was the best use of our time, and we basically grilled our meals and relaxed. We definitely hope to return.

Hale Aloha Cottage Getaway!

Love this spot! Such a great place to hang out, hike, swim in the tide pools with the turtles, enjoy amazing sunsets on the lanai. [

We felt like we were in the Swiss Family Robinson tree house . Great views! Lots of turtles. We even saw angel fish and a reef shark when we explored during low tide. Sunsets were unbelievable!We had everything we needed to make food. The place does get toasty.

Best stay on the big island

This was our second time staying here. It’s definitely a different experience in the winter but magical all the same. Nothing beats hearing the ocean all night and drinking coffee while watching whales from your door.

Being an older home in my opinion could use some updates/upgrades but the location was obviously the draw to the property. Definitely appreciated response when we had some questions and check in and out very simple. Maybe local food recommendations/options would be helpful for us "old folks" that don't always trust the internet reviews.

If you're looking for a classic Hawaiian experience, this is it. Amazing cottage - we loved just about everything about it. So incredible to wake up in the morning to the cool breeze, sounds of the ocean at your door, and a turtle or two lounging on the lava rocks. What we really enjoyed was the location and Puako - awesome for morning and evening walks, friendly people, amazing sunsets, exploring tidepools, and central location to access Big Island activities. Stunning sandy beaches and great snorkeling close by. If you're looking for a low key, non-resort place to put your feet up, this is it. We loved this place and will be back.
