Luxury home a hop from the sea with extensive panoramic terraces

Casa Ghiandaia is a bungalow located within five minutes walk of the bay of Cotoncello, a delightful cove overlooking the bay of Sant'Andrea, and twelve minutes walk from the sandy beach of Sant'Andrea. It is in an elevated position, enjoying quiet, privacy and 360 degree views of both mountains and sea. The nearby village of Sant'Andrea offers shops, cafes, restaurants, outboard motor dinghy rental, and doctor's surgery. There are numerous hotels with good restaurants within easy walk. Zanca, five minutes drive away, which has a well-stocked mini-market, is served by the public bus which runs along the coast to Portoferraio and to Marina di Campo. Marciana Marina with comprehensive facilities including two supermarkets and medical centre is twenty minutes drive away.

The bungalow comprises: large living room with tv, dvd and satellite connection and adjoining large kitchen, both giving onto extensive terraces; 2 double bedrooms, 1 with large double bed with double doors to a terrace, the other with single beds; modern eat-in fully equipped kitchen, and bathroom with large shower. In all, the inside area is approximately 65 sq m. All rooms are luxuriously furnished, with heating/air conditioning. A washing machine is located on the lower terrace, together with a washing line. There are several beautiful extensive terraces, two porticoed at the bungalow, one with lawn adjoining the bungalow overlooking the bay of Sant'Andrea , the other, accessed across a snake-path, directly overlooking the sea, the Italian coastline and the island of Capraia (children must NOT be left unsupervised on this terrace). The terraces are variously equipped with tables, chairs, modular outdoor furniture, sun-beds and barbecues. There are two outdoor showers, one overlooking the mountain, the other on the terrace directly overlooking the sea. There is also a ping pong table with bats and balls. There is parking on the premises. Bed linen and towels are provided.

House Rules 1. Occupancy at anytime, for any reason, is limited to the number of persons agreed as per your reservation. 2. Guests must keep the gates to the property closed at all times save when they are going through it. Whenever you are absent from the property, close all windows and doors to maintain security and prevent rain and water damage. 3. Children are to be supervised at all times on the property, and must NEVER be left alone and unsupervised by an adult on the panoramic terrace overlooking the sea and when on the trampoline. 4. Guests must dispose all refuse and recycling in accordance with the requirements in the information sheet at the Property in the allocated bins, and excess rubbish must not be left in public or common areas. 5. Do not at any time sit on the furniture or cushions with wet bathing suits or dirty clothing or with food or drinks. Please remove sandy shoes before entering the house. 6. Please respect the fact that some of the cupboards are locked to which guests do not have access. 7. Guests must not create noise or any anti-social behaviour which is offensive to occupiers of neighbouring properties especially between the hours of 10pm and 8am and during arrival and departure at any time throughout the occupancy. Any breach of this rule may result in termination of the guests’ occupation and loss of rental paid and Security Deposit and any additional charges for additional expenses occurred by the Owner. 8. Smoking and pets are not permitted. 9. Guests will take all reasonable and proper care of the property and all furniture, furnishings and effects and leave them in the same state of repair, and condition as at the commencement of the rental period. Guests are required to inform the Owner by email immediately of any damage or breakage in or around the property promptly so that it can be repaired and replaced for the next client, and will reimburse the Owner for the cost of replacement, repair or extra cleaning costs where reasonably demanded for damage caused. 10. Upon departure, please ensure that the premises are generally tidy and that all dishes are clean and that they are stowed away in their proper place. 11. Arrangements for keys on arrival and departure are through Wilmo Teggi who is the point of contact in any emergency relating to the property. 12. Guests will be held liable for any non-compliance by their visitors with any of the above rules. Breach of these House Rules is a breach of the Terms and Conditions of occupancy. The Owner and Wilmo reserve the right to terminate permission to occupy and to evict from the property anyone who refuses to comply with the above.

A gem of a place

Our ten-day stay in the house was a wonderful experience. The house and the garden / terraces around it are exactly as described and Wilmo a great help. A marvellous place to relax and to watch spectacular sunsets.

Fantastic place with breathtaking terrace on top of the cliff

Though already after season we had a great week in the house near the beautiful Cotoncello beach. We also enjoyed playing ping-pong and relaxing in the garden or the patio. We would really like to return sometime in future.

We spent 10 wonderful days in Elba, relaxing in this incredible house with its beautiful tranquil gardens, watching the lizards scampering and listening to the birds singing. The completely private terrace with panoramic sea views was simply breathtaking... We enjoyed swimming in the crystal clear sea, exploring and meeting the wonderful local people. I came to Elba as a child with my family and had longed to return one day. It was just as wonderful as I remember it... It was a dream to stay here and was hard to leave. A Heavenly Property

As decades-long veterans of vacation rentals, we were absolutely delighted with this lovely home. It couldn't have been in a more perfect location, or been better suited for a week of relaxation. Our hostess Deborah clearly considered every detail about the comfort of her guests, and we're very grateful for that. The kitchen had all that we needed (and then some), there were enough linens, towels and cushions for a small army, and the décor was perfect. I will admit that it took me a few minutes to figure out how to use an induction stove-top for the first time, but once I had it down, I was impressed with the speed and functionality of this cooking surface. The modern heater/air conditioners in every room, on the other hand, were a snap to turn on and regulate. And then there's the outdoor space! It was AMAZING! For one thing, there was a huge lawn at the front of the house with a massive umbrella, a hammock, multiple tables with plenty of chairs, and several chaise lounges. (Oh, and there were crank-out awnings around the front porch.) Between the house and the curved driveway was another large area surrounded by a garden made up largely of every herb you can imagine, and on this side of the house there is an additional large, covered dining space. The final surprise (and delight) was a separate private terrace overlooking the sea. More comfortable furniture, a charcoal barbeque enclosure, a cold water shower, and, well, a view to kill for! We watched every sunset from this vantage point, which resulted in some amazing photos. The nearby cove was an easy five minute walk on the main path (we didn't try the steeper one immediately next to the house), and it's a beautiful spot. It not only had fascinating rock formations, but also crystal-clear water and a cute little white sand beach. We will absolutely be coming back!

Sejour idyllique, la maison est très bien équipée, le wifi fonctionne très bien, et la vue depuis les deux terrasses est splendide. Le jardin est très agréable, nous avons même pu profiter du basilic, des citrons et des tomates du potager. La maison est aussi très bien placée, avec accès facile à pieds à la plage et restaurants . Leider schlechtes Wetter erwischt, schade. Haus und Garten sehr schön und sehr gut gepflegt. Küche ist mit allen erdenklichen Utensilien ausgestattet. Einziger Wermutstropfen, die Restaurants in Sant'Andrea waren noch im Winterschlaf, jedoch bei dem vorhandenen Wetter auch verständlich.

Es war sehr schön dort

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt in diesem Ferienhaus sehr genossen. Es ist wirklich sehr ruhig dort. Sehr schöner Garten und noch schönere Terrasse über dem Meer. Herrlicher Ausblick und schöner Garten . Auch Wilmo, der Hausverwalter, war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, aber nicht aufdringlich. Er schenkte uns zum Abschied sogar noch 1 Kiste Zitronen. Minuspunkte waren die steile Auffahrt zum Ferienhaus (Achtung , wenn Fahrradträger hinten montiert ), sowie schlechte bis gar keine WiFi-Verbindung. Auch der Bäcker sowie die Restaurants in San`t Andrea waren bis zu unserer Abreise Ende April leider nicht geöffnet. Ansonsten aber alles top, wir hatten ja ein Auto dabei, wir denken, wir werden sicherlich einmal wiederkommen.

Einfach wunderbar!

Wir haben die Woche in diesem wunderbaren Ferienhaus sehr genossen! Das Grundstück ist riesig und ganz besonders die Terrasse über dem Meer ist sensationell! Vom Garten, bzw. vom Felsen aus die Sonnenuntergänge zu betrachten, ist jeden Tag ein neues Erlebnis. Dazu diese absolute Ruhe! Es ist unglaublich, man hört wirklich gar nichts (außer morgens einen Hahn 🙂). Wir hatten das Gefühl, in einem Stückchen Paradies zu sein. Das Haus ist liebevoll eingerichtet und in der Küche haben wir nichts vermisst. Spaß hatten wir auch beim Tischtennis spielen. Die Kommunikation mit Wilmo lief problemlos und schnell. Wir waren mehrmals am Strand von Sant Andrea zum Essen, die Restaurants und auch ein kleiner, gut ausgestatteter Laden sind zu Fuß zu erreichen. Die Küstenwanderung, die direkt beim Haus beginnt, ist wunderbar. Wir können das Ferienhaus definitiv weiterempfehlen! Danke für diesen herrlichen Urlaub.

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus auf großzügigem Grundstück

Wir haben hier als Familie einen sehr schönen, erholsamen und ruhigen Urlaub verbracht. Besonders gut gefallen hat uns das große Grundstück mit den Sitzgelegenheiten an vielen Stellen. Die Panoramaterrasse war natürlich ein Highlight, hier haben wir viel Zeit mit Lesen, Spielen und Aufs-Meer-Gucken verbracht. Während unseres Aufenthaltes Ende Juli war es ungewöhnlich heiß und schwül, sodass wir für die zuverlässige und nachts leise laufende Klimaanlage im Haus dankbar waren. Der Kontakt mit Wilmo, dem Hausmeister, war sehr nett. Die Ausstattung im Haus, vor allem der Küche, lässt keine Wünsche offen. Den Felsstrand erreicht man in wenigen Minuten, zum Abduschen (2 Außenduschen!) ist man in kurzer Zeit wieder zurück. Ein rundum empfehlenswertes Haus!

Ein Sonnenuntergang schöner als der andere

Wir verlebten eine wunderbare Woche in Deborahˋs Haus und den dazugehörigen Aussenbereichen. Nach dem Frühstück auf der überdachten Terrasse und einer kurzen anspruchsvolle Wanderung zu den Felsen von Cotoncello folgten schöne Nachmittagsstunden auf der Meer-Blick-Terrasse, von der aus wir dann später unvergessliche Sonnenuntergänge genießen konnten. Ausflüge haben wir nach Marciana, auf den Monte Capanne und zum schönen, aber leider auch sehr vollen Strand von Fetovaia unternommen. Im Haus selber hat es uns an nichts gefehlt. Check-in und Check-out verliefen reibungslos. Vielen Dank Wilmo! Diverse Kräuter und auch Tomaten aus dem Garten landeten direkt in der Salatschüssel. Und wenn man nicht selber in der gut ausgestatteten Küche stehen wollte, gab es genügend Alternativen in S.Andrea und Umgebung. Wir können diese Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen!

Un lieu magique... La maison est super, très bien équipée et il y fait bon vivre. Les terrasses sont superbes et permettent d'alterner les plaisirs. La terrasse panoramique est incroyable! Rundum glücklich und entspannt!

Das Haus und die Umgebung bietet alles für einen unbeschwerten Urlaub. Das Haus liegt erhöht und hat dadurch einen wundervollen Ausblick auf das Meer und den Sonnenuntergang. Das Grundstück ist eingezäunt und terrassiert mit vielen mediterranen Pflanzen. Rund ums Haus gibt es verschiedene, bequeme Sitz- und Liegemöglichkeiten (auch im Schatten). Das Highlight war die Terrasse über den Klippen. Es konnte noch so heiss sein, hier gab es jederzeit eine frische Brise zu geniessen. Das ganze Anwesen, sei es im oder ums Haus ist sehr gut an Möblierung / Utensilien ausgestattet. Man merkt, dass es den Besitzern wichtig ist, dass alles gepflegt wird/wirkt. Da wir gerne zu Fuss unterwegs sind, kam uns gelegen, dass am Haus der Fuss- und Wanderweg entlang ging. Wir nutzten diesen rege, um entweder in den nahe gelegenen Restaurants essen zu gehen (zw. 10 - 20 Min. Fussweg) oder kleine Wanderungen zu unternehmen, sei es an den Strand, nach Sant’Andrea oder hoch in die Wälder. Das Haus selbst ist liebevoll eingerichtet. Vor allem die Mückengitter an den Fenstern (Klima wäre vorhanden) haben wir gerne genutzt, um auch bei geöffneten Fenstern schlafen zu können. Das Bad entspricht heutigem Standard und in der Küche findet man auch ungewöhnliche Utensilien… es macht einfach Spass, hier zu kochen (Anm. einen Schwingbesen haben wir vergeblich gesucht ;-). Wilmo, der Hausmeister ist einfach nur nett und unglaublich hilfsbereit. Auch die Kommunikation mit Deborah, der Eigentümerin, war jederzeit zuvorkommend und unkompliziert, gerade hinsichtlich Corona und den Reiseeinschränkungen. Danke Wilmo und Deborah für eure grossartige Unterstützung.

Great house at wonderful location

We (a family of 4) enjoyed our stay at Casa Ghiandaia a lot. Wilmo, who met us for the check in, was very nice and showed us round. The house and especially the kitchen are very well equipped. Beds are comfortable. Lovely sea views from both terrasses and from the garden. Two outdoor showers, two places for barbecue. A short (but steep) path leads down to beautiful Cotoncello beach (good snorkeling). Thank you for the brilliant time - we would have loved to stay longer and really hope to return sometime soon!

E' davvero difficile esprimersi in modo originale per lodare questa splendida casa. Si percepisce subito e, con emozione, l'amore con cui è stata creata ed arredata. La raffinatezza delle scelte, la cura dei dettagli, l'impronta discreta della personalità dei proprietari, il perfetto inserimento nella splendida natura circostante! Wilmo è discreto e prezioso e il Sig. Jay ci ha telefonato dall'Inghilterra per verificare la soluzione di un piccolo problema. Un vero piacere cucinare nella fornitissima cucina e godere degli spazi delle terrazze. In particolare la terrazza a mare, fruibile per il sole e per gli aperitivi. Un piccolo suggerimento : l'installazione di un punto luce sul piano cottura. Grazie!

Wunderschöne Casa Ghiandaia

Dies wunderschöne Casa Ghiandaia liegt hochgelegen in einem stillen gemütlichen Eck der Bucht von Cotoncello. Zu dem Haus gehört eine Naturlounge welche die Nordküste von Elba überblickt und von einem Felsen aus können wundervolle Sonnenuntergänge mit Blick in die Bucht von Cotoncello genossen werden! Das Haus ist umgehen von einem wunderschönen mit diversen Pflanzen eingewachsenen Garten in dem es einige gemütliche Plätze gibt, von Loungemöbel über Hängematte, bis hin zu mehreren Tischen mit Sitzgelegenheiten. Bereichert wird dies schöne Anwesen durch eine bunte Tierwelt inklusive musikalischer Untermalung durch die Vögelchen, da kann man sich einfach nicht sattsehen und hören :-) Das Haus ist excellent ausgestattet und wunderschön, die Einrichtung ist farblich äußerst geschmackvoll. Die Küche bietet die höchste und qualitativ beste Ausstattung! Und zu diesem bezaubernd schönen Platz kommt noch der liebe Wilmo (Hauswart) hinzu, er kümmert sich rührend und liebevoll mit [s]einer ansteckend ruhigen Art (die ja Urlaub ausmacht) um die Casa Ghiandaia :-) Meike und Rainer
