About this property
Quiet, Private Lakefront Cottage - Skaneateles Lake
Lovely restful lake cottage, home for many sun-freckled summers to the woman who when a young girl inspired J.D. Salinger’s character, Esme. Every room with a view, and with 267 feet of swimming and boating same-level frontage, the views are spectacular. Gorgeous stone and wood throughout. High ceilings, lots of light. Large porch for lakeside dining and relaxing along private grassy beach. Sleeps nine blissful souls. So quiet and peaceful in here, this must be what paradise is like.
Skaneateles Lake is a reservoir for the City of Syracuse. It is considered the cleanest of the Finger Lakes. There is a Finger Lakes Land Trust preserve directly behind our property (the trail is accessible from route 41). There are multiple parks and preserves (Bear Swamp State Forest, High Vista preserve etc.) surrounding the south end of the lake; the Land Trust is working to preserve this natural setting by connecting these properties into an “emerald necklace” around the south end.
The village of Skaneateles, 25 minutes to the north, is a well-known shopping, dining and tourist destination. They hold a music festival and boat show, have polo matches, run tour boat cruises and dinner cruises, and have free town band concerts. The town has many very fine restaurants from classic Victorian nine and twelve course meals at the Krebs to Doug’s Fish Fry, a local favorite. Boat rentals are available at the Skaneateles Marina a few miles south of the village.
Additional Features: -Internet/WiFi -NetFlix - large field for games etc. (property is 4.5 acres) - mooring available - laundry - master bedroom suite - tastefully furnished - living room redecorated in 2017 - 25 minutes to the village of Skaneateles/50 minutes to Ithaca/20 minutes to Homer-Cortland - plenty of parking - housekeeping ready - gas grill - fire pit for camp fires

This was the perfect place for 5 adults to spread out and make themselves at home. It made our trip for my sons wedding an event with a lovely home to remember.
What a magical home! The pictures don’t do it justice! We’ve never had great service at a stay like we did at this one! They were so helpful and accommodating and it’s such a beautiful home! It is so cozy and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone looking in the area!
We were up in the Homer area for my daughter's college graduation weekend and stayed at this property which sat directly on Skaneatlas Lake. The interior has a very curious decoration style that seemed to tell a story in each room, which I found very interesting. Communication with the host was great, as described, and you can't beat the location right on the lake!
Love this property. Great location right on the lake great for launching a kayak. Spectacular fishing and lake views. Clean, well equipped, peaceful. We'll be back next again year!
This house has so much character! It is spacious and lovely…and literally on the banks of the cleanest lake upstate. The host is very kind and attentive. If you want to get away…there’s no better place for a quiet and relaxing stay.
We had a wonderfully relaxing stay. The House met our needs. The view of the lake was great, and just a few steps from the back door. Overall it was a good time.
Location quiet and beautiful. There was a small insect problem that maybe no one was aware of. Everything you need is there indoors and outdoors. We have back problems and there might need to be some update to the bedding but that maybe just us,Will probably try again but this place looks booked up far into the future,’
Super quiet location with all the amenities. Loved the sprawling ranch vibe (those who cannot climb stairs will find it extremely easy to move about in). Our pups enjoyed the shale beach as did we. Husband enjoyed fishing off the dock and caught quite a few bass. If you value relaxation and solitude, this is the place.
Would have given 5 stars but their was a bee problem outside of patio doors and outdoor furniture needs updating. Beautiful spot on the water with a retro style feel
I, my husband and our little corgi dog had a wonderful stay on Lake Skaneateles at this property. It's an elegant, older well designed and well equipped ranch with fantastic lake views, lots of books and cool folk art. The lot is flat with it's own private dock, lawn and little beach. It was very easy for my husband to launch our kayak from. It has plenty of parking too. The water was crystal clear/clean and the fishing was fantantic. The bed was comfy and we really enjoyed the spacious screened in porch. We hope to be able to stay again next year.
Beautiful lakefront property that gives you fabulous views from morning until night. We only stayed the weekend and wish we had more time to explore but we were only half an hour away from many attractions and restaurants. Robert was a great host and responded timely. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone.
What a gem. Beautiful views, very nice house, great location for upstate NY foliage gazing. We had a bonfire one night by the dock and saw shooting stars!
The property and its location are quite amazing! The house will take you back in time and make you feel right at home. The views of the lake and the proximity to the water would be hard to duplicate. At the end of a somewhat private road we saw or heard very few cars and just a few people. Quiet, restful and welcoming, we hope to come back to this peaceful spot on Skaneateles Lake!
We fished, we swam, we kayaked, we ate a ton of food. It was an awesome reunion after not seeing each other for so long. The sunsets were amazing! It’s not a fancy place but that’s not what we wanted.
This property is set right on the lake with a level yard leading up to the water. The house, furniture etc was VERY comfortable and clean. Really cool art all around the house but the lake and view from literally every room is the attraction here.
The lake is beautiful and the cottage is super unique. But the main stars are the waterfront and property! It is a great space to play, sun and enjoy the water.
This is a very unique rental on a quiet road by the lake, perfect for a simple relaxing weekend trip. It is a nice sleepy area of the lake where you can unwind and be at peace. It is rural so there is not much nearby - but feels ideal for a family; I really appreciated that the space was pet-friendly, too. Cottage is full of fun artistic character and some really funky/neat rural folk art - we really enjoyed looking at all of the art. One of the nicest features is being right on the water with beautiful views of the lake from every window, no matter the weather you can enjoy it. Being so close to the water made it easy to collect shells and watch sunsets from the nearby dock, which my kiddo enjoyed. This cottage is well updated & furnished, with a small kitchen area (stove/oven/microwave etc.)- & instructions were very helpful for us to know how to use things and where they go, which made it easy for us. Very well organized overall and a joy to stay. Overall, this rental is a hidden gem on the lake.

Awesome location with tons of space
This is a great location with level lake frontage. There is a lot of space inside and one bedroom even has bunk beds for kids. I also love that the property had board games- great rainy day activity. The owner even let us borrow his canoe. The house is also located on a very quiet street so it is great to wake up to the quiet lake in the mornings.
