The cottage is very private yet 5 minutes from shops, restaurants and area attractions. Our guests enjoy both their privacy and the convenience of being near everything! As mentioned the beach and the gradual sloping sandy waterfrontage is perfect for young children to play and swim. The private dock accommodates up to a 30' boat on either side. We are so happy you enjoyed your week at our lovely cottage on Lake Winnie. The sandy private beach is perfect for young children with its sugar sand and gradual slope. The water temp in June is still a bit cold but the kids don't care! Many of the area attractions are within 10 to 60 minutes of the cottage and perfect for a day trip. Unfortunately some of the attractions are not open daily until later in the spring and closer to the summer season. However it appears you were able to visit a few of the fun attractions! Thanks for noting the peace and tranquility you experienced. The cottage is nicely situated directly on the lake with trees between the neighboring properties. While a down side of visiting in the spring and fall is that some of the area attractions and restaurants have limited hours, there is also less people in the area and on the lake during these seasons. We were happy to learn that you really enjoyed your stay at our cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee. The west facing large level grassy lawn , private sandy beach, 40' private dock and gradual sandy water frontage for swimming, boating, outdoor activities and relaxation has been enjoyed by many guests. Your constructive criticism and feedback is greatly appreciated and brings to our attention improvements and concerns we would otherwise not know about. The originality of this cottage is its charm. The kitchen is not large or modern and still has the original knotty pine cabinets. It is well stocked with all the appliances, dishes, pots, pans, and utensils needed for a week's stay and this does not leave much room for other items. At the end of this season we will review the items in the kitchen to be sure everything is necessary. Thanks for also bringing the leak in the fridge to our attention at check out as it allowed us to fix the problem before the next guest's arrival. Your review is the first time we have heard about the problem with the bathroom door. The door will be fixed upon the current's guest check out and before the next guest's arrival. Making sure our guests enjoy their vacations and exceeding our guest's expectations is very important to us. Our guest's honest feedback and their reviews help us to do this. It is always wonderful to learn that a recent guest has enjoyed their stay! Thanks for sharing a bunch of the details in your review as this is quite helpful to other travelers. The new commercial grade washer and dryer has been a BIG hit and is much less expensive and much more convenient than running to the laundromat 10 minutes down the road. (though there is a dunkin' right next door:)). The washer and dryer cost $2.50 per load and quarters are needed. We also keep some on hand if you run out. Our reasoning behind metering the washer/dryer was to conserve electric and water and preserve our private septic system. We are already planning our improvements for next year which include redecorating and updating the great room furniture and sleeper sofas and upgrading the parking area.
