Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
We had a mixed experience with this VRBO rental. The property itself had some positive aspects, including a convenient location and a generally comfortable stay. However, the listing was not entirely accurate, which led to some disappointment upon arrival.Several features and details described in the listing did not match the actual condition or amenities available at the property including linens not being included and garbage disposal being left up to the renters with no specific information of how it should be disposed. Accurate listings are important because they help guests set realistic expectations and make informed decisions when booking. While we were able to make the best of our stay, we feel the property description should be updated to better reflect what guests can expect. With more accurate information and clearer communication, this rental could provide a much better experience for future visitors.
Easy entry with keypad, comfortable house with room for a big group. Plenty of dishes, coffee mugs, glasses, silverware. Home was clean and ready on arrival. Would have given the home 5 stars if linens and towels had been provided (for that price.)
We loved our stay!! The owners were very friendly and answered any questions we had promptly. The house was perfect for our large group. Can't wait to stay there again next year.
Beautiful home with all the amenities. Fantastic location - secluded but yet a short drive to town or walk to Bald Mountain. Thank you to Peter & Wendi for helping to make our Old Forge trip a great time!

We liked the location and the house had plenty of room for our group. The garage was also a great bonus, especially since we had some rain during our stay.We did have a couple of disappointments. We changed our dates specifically to stay at this home because it was advertised as “pet friendly.” However, the night before our stay, we were told that our pet still needed to be approved and that we would need to pay a large deposit, an additional pet fee, and an additional cleaning fee. We ultimately decided not to bring our dog. We were also surprised to find quite a bit of pet hair and pet food throughout the house, which made the additional cleaning fee a little confusing. The fire pit was another nice feature, but there were only two usable chairs, while the other two were broken. Adding a few more chairs and storing them in the garage or the barn we noticed on the property would be a nice improvement. One other safety issue we noticed was the flooring around the pellet stove. The flooring has an exposed edge that really needs trim or some type of transition piece added. Several people in our group tripped over it and caught their toes on the edge, so this would be an important improvement.Overall, it is a nice home with a great location and plenty of space. However, based on our experience, we would not consider it truly “pet friendly” unless the pet policies and fees were made clearer upfront. A few maintenance and safety improvements would make it more comfortable.
We absolutely love this house. The owners are amazing with communication and always there when we needed anything. This was our 2nd time staying there. We go every year for our family trip with 3 families and this house meets everything we needed and had plenty of room too.
The house was very comfortable and laid out so well for a large group of (8) adults, (2) seniors, and (2) kids. Great outside porch and fire pit. The younger ones hiked up the mountain and enjoyed the Water Safari close by. We will definitely want to stay there again for our next family vacation in upstate New York.
Great location, close to town, Daikers, really easy to get on the trails. Clean house, newer construction, large rooms. Good couch/tv room for family hangout time.
Loved this house and location! Plenty of space and A/C is definitely a plus in the warm summer months. Lots of privacy as well. Well equipped with most of what we needed. It was also nice having a large 2-car garage and plenty of parking.
We're a group of family of friends that stayed at Old Forge because our oldest goes to camp here. The house is BIG/spacious, we loved the backyard/bonfire/deck. There's a hiking trail that's a walking distance from the house which is a BONUS.
The property was comfortable for our family of 15. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were roomy and plenty of hot water in the showers. The kitchen had everything you’d need. We enjoyed the deck and outdoor fire pit. It’s close to all of the fun stuff in Old Forge and Inlet.
The Rondaxe retreat was a real treat. The house was beautiful and fit our needs perfectly. We especially liked the pet friendly property as we love our animals and were glad to take them with us. The seclusion of the property was perfect and not too far from Old Forge. We had a great time reminiscing around the bon fire and wasn't worried about disturbing any neighbors. Thank you for a memorable family getaway.
Great house, great location. Would have liked better instructions for garbage. It’s our first time staying in ADK and we’re not used to dropping off garbage 15 min away. Other than that, everything was great and we’d stay here again
Lots of space and great location; maintenance issues
We hosted our extended family for our annual winter gathering in the Adirondacks. We loved the location and the ample space. It had plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to keep our group staying together. We had a few maintenance issues that were resolved. Peter was very responsive to communications and even made the long trip to address some of them which we appreciate. Also note the house has an apartment that the owner and friends use during your stay.
Our 4th year staying here for Old Forge/Inlet Christmas on Main St. This house is so cozy and yet we all have room to stretch out! The Hosts are great to deal with!
perfect spot for people looking to golf Thendara , and Inlet Golf clubs, the owner was responsive to all/ any issues...excellent spot if you are a snowmobiler right on trail 5 half way between Old Forge and Eagle Bay, the property is large and private and close to Diakers restaurant which is a + if your looking for food and entertainment close by.
Wonderful place for the 12 of us! Spacious bathrooms worked well for all of us. Could have used a lot more toilet paper. Overall a great place to stay!
