Steph, was a great host and accommodating. We Loved all the stunning views and feeding the birds, chipmunks and stingy squirrel who overtook all the food. Thank you for providing the bird food. This was a very relaxing, quiet place to recharge. We will be back
This is our second thanksgiving week stay at Stefanie's and we couldn't be happier. Beautiful views, relaxing atmosphere, and close to everything we enjoy doing. We highly recommend staying here and can't wait to go back.
We had an amazing stay at Steph’s place. She was an excellent host and great communicator. The house and property were the perfect place to stay while visiting JT.
Comfortable, with lots of windows to enjoy the views. If you plan on doing much cooking, you may find the kitchen awkward, but it worked fine for us. Very convenient to JTNP.

I am so glad you enjoyed my special home! The views from the windows are really such an important part of the Joshua Tree experience. Yes, the folks who built the house back in the day definitely had an interesting plan for the kitchen design, but those two sinks are certainly a plus! All the best !--S
We loved this place!!! Well thought indoors and outdoors design. Views are stunning, close to the park entrance and town. Stephanie was always on top of every question we had.
Definitely will be coming back soon.
Roomy with beautiful views and comfortable outdoor space. Close to town and supplies as well as to Joshua Tree National Park. We enjoyed being outdoors and walking in the area. Son-in-law enjoyed biking. Nice family time.
This beautiful little house has great amenities, the right amount of privacy and ambiance, fantastic views, and all the vibe you could need. We come to JT to get some peace and clarity, and this is definitely the right place to do that. The proximity to the park is an excellent perk. We will definitely come back here.
We were there for the pleasant views and Joshua Tree National Park, and the house worked perfectly for us. It is well equipped with basic necessities. The property is a bit desert quirky, and accurately described on the VRBO site. The owner if very responsive and helpful.
Return visit. seamlessly fits with the unique beauty of Joshua tree. Amazing indoor and outdoor space to lounge and enjoy the views from. Very comfortable, extremely clean, wonderfully quiet, and Steph is easy to reach out to. We enjoyed leaving the bird seed out that was provided. Wonderful Vrbo.
Stephanie was super responsive and was very helpful leading up to our stay. House looks as pictured in the post and kept us warm during the cold winter! You can tell someone lives in the house as there were dog beds, filled medicine cabinets, etc. but overall for the price, was a great stay! Cute neighborhood too.

Thanks so much for staying at my place! Yes, I keep some cabinets stocked for guests, as I love to keep it as turnkey as possible and allow folks to bring their own pets on holiday if they like. We don't live in the house, but love visiting it and offering people the same warm, inviting experience, like a true desert experience. Happy New year to you!
Our host, Steph, was great… she stayed in touch to confirm that things were going well; excellent communication. The desert home was perfect with a tremendous view of the surroundings and nice outside seating/viewing. If you’re looking for an authentic desert retreat with nice amenities, this place fills the bill.
Peaceful place to connect with the desert and wildlife
Outdoor living space was glorious. It was relaxing to sit outside with a cup of coffee in the morning to sit feeding and watch the wild life. Coming back after the day out to the evening sunset with the breeze and waiting for the stars. We couldn’t ask for more. The inside space when we decided to come in was cozy and comfortable. Thanks Stephanie we had a great time.

This place felt like a home!
Steph was wonderful at communicating and letting us know what we can do for our family gathering. We all felt right at home in this wonderful and cozy home that she has opened up to us. The view off the porch was to be savored as well as the open spaces inside. We cooked all our meals on the grill outside and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks and we hope that others have as much fun as we did.

About the host
Hosted by Stephanie R.
Stephanie is a true Southern Californian, who spent her years growing up with a deep love of nature, from the desert to the mountains and oceans. She is a big believer in preserving and respecting natural environments and open space, and likes to think of her home and property in JTree as a sanctuary, not just to the people who visit, but also to the wildlife who have made this beautiful area their home. The night sky (especially when there is a meteor shower) and the clean air, makes this one of her favorite places on earth, and she considers herself to be very fortunate that she gets to be the caretaker of this special home and property.
Why they chose this property
Unlike some listings from investors and corporations looking to get into the rental market in this area, this property has belonged to owner Stephanie (and then boyfriend blues harmonica legend John "Juke" logan) since 1997, and renovated in 2015. The 2 remained friends through the years after splitting in 2002, always marveling at its healing power, sharing it with family and friends. The home has hosted incredible parties with musicians from all over the world, been a jumping off point for friends who are rock climber enthusiasts, and has been a perfect spot for Thanksgivings, Christmases, and, of course, meteor showers. Sadly, Juke passed away in 2013, and, after doing some wonderful updates and renovations, Stephanie is proud to open it up for more to enjoy, so others can create wonderful memories here as she has.
What makes this property unique
This home and property is equidistant to the park and the village, yet still had amazing privacy. The home is set up with amazing views all around from every window, and they made sure to purchase some extra acreage to ensure no other homes could be built to block the views. All left unfenced to make sure all natural wildlife can still live as they had, with the freedom to cross, hunt, and raise their young without encroachment. The original builder of the home put in two watering holes that are still in use, so all of us who have lived here have helped generations of desert critters thrive. This is a home that is personal, eclectic and very loved.
