Great stay on the north side of the lake. Close to nature, great place to start hikes. Quiet neighborhood where we could hear the birds and look at the stars. Convenient access to Big Bear without being stuck in the hustle and bustle.

Rustic Cabin in Quiet Area with a lot of Privacy.
This cabin backs up to the National Forest. A small creek runs behind it. The lot next door is vacant and the times we've stayed there the cabin on the other side has been unoccupied. We love Fawnskin, it's a very quiet community. A nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle. It was just me and my wife, but four or five people could be very comfortable in the space. The kitchen is well equipped and a barbecue is provided on the front deck. Highly recommended.

Not a place I would recommend
This cabin was dirty. Spider webs with bugs and spiders in them along with just being dirty and no one cleaning.
The door that you come through was the same way and worse than the window seals.
The cabin is in need of a good updating. Definitely NOT what the pictures shows.
This cabin should have been a lot less to rent.
Cool Cabins need to check on there rentals before renting them out…
The house is a bit worn, but everything worked. There were sufficient cooking utensils, along with games, books, TVs. The neighborhood is quiet, the neighbors were friendly and the house itself was as advertised. It would be 4 stars on its own and worth the price.
The "Cool Cabins" rental folks are really cheap, however. Upon entering the cabin we found: 1) M&Ms on the carpet 2) The smell of sour milk permeating the kitchen 3) a little nightmare of about 20 dead flies on the upstairs table 4) the smoke alarm chirping about its battery 5) sticks and leaves on the downstairs table and 6) someone's underwear stuffed in the sofa cushion!
Given that, we had no confidence that even minimal sanitization had been done and chose to spritz down all the handles and counters.
In addition to the poor cleaning, they are going to get sued over non-maintenance - specifically the front porch step - it is broken and buckled suddenly under foot throwing me down to the gravel and sidewalk. The lazy chair is broken, too, but fairly usable.
The house instructions were pretty cookie-cutter for all their properties leaving us to wonder if we could use this house's fireplace. How about the mountain bikes? We couldn't tell if we were welcome, or those were off limits.
Finally, it is a drag after paying electronically, signing the forms electronically, that Cool Cabins still makes you circle to Lake to their office to pick up the code to the key box. They can't use email?

Hi Paul, thank you for your feedback. We're sorry we weren't able to provide you with a better stay. The subpar cleaning you experienced is never how we want our guests to arrive to a cabin nor the impression we want to make. Unfortunately, city ordinance requires guests come directly to the office for check in. We understand it's inconvenient but is the only way we can continue to run our company. A work order has been created to address the maintenance issues and we will look into doing a deep cleaning of this property. As a company, our main goal is to provide exceptional service and accommodations. We would like to extend to you a credit toward a future stay with us and we will do our best to provide a 5-star vacation. Please refer to this reservation number when booking in the future to take advantage of this. We hope this somewhat makes up for the poor stay you experienced.
Everything was excelent we feel like we're at home

Fawnskin is the quiet side of Big Bear lake. The property is i a quiet neighborhood and is well maintained. Told management company of a drippy shower but that is only problem. Nice place at a good price.
