Excellent property, all that we expected and more! Off the beaten track--quiet and private. The fenced in yard for the dogs helps them feel at home. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. This is our second stay and we'd love to stay again and again.Peter and Laura are great hosts.Left a copy of Nick's book and some new dog poop bags.
Casa Paloma is the ultimate location to experience Abiquiu, NM! Prior to our arrival, Laura and Pete sent a wealth of information to help us plan our stay and to familiarize ourselves with their home. Casa Paloma was comfortable and felt like “home” from the moment we arrived. The house is fully equipped and the upper and lower patios are perfect for nature watching and star gazing. We had the pleasure of seeing beautiful birds, several types of rabbits, a tumbleweed or two, and heard coyotes waking up for the evening. Casa Paloma is not far from the many attractions in the area. Do not hesitate to enjoy this beautiful place. We cannot wait to come back!
Very comfortable home. You feel more like you're staying at your cousin or coworker's vacation property then one of those highly curated corporate rentals in Santa Fe. The owners are very hands-on and helpful. Got great recommendations for things to do in the area. We loved just relaxing on the second floor deck watching the clouds to roll in across the high desert. The rental met all of our expectations.
Worth the drive. The evening silence was magical!!! My only caveat is that you MUST print out check in instructions. There is no cell service until you get in and find the WiFi login. We had to drive back down to get a signal to get the door code. Not a tragedy, but it would have been unnecessary had I not left the instructions on my kitchen counter!Beds were comfortable and the water pressure was good. The views are spectacular. Highly recommend!
Perfect place for the reasons I was in northern NM. Close to locations I wanted to visit. Owners were easy to deal with and made everything easy. ThanksScott
You will enjoy the pre check-in conversation with the owner. Very informative and personal. You can’t go wrong staying at this property. We enjoyed our trip immensely.

Bob, Tori -
We're very happy you were with us over Columbus Day weekend, which is a beautiful time to be in northern New Mexico, with the fall weather, the deep blue skies and cottonwoods all golden along the Chama River. We missed this magnificence this year, but were happy that you enjoyed all of the fall beauty from Casa Paloma's patio, portal, balcony and windows. Perhaps you even had an evening fire?... Please bring your family back to visit your mother soon. All our best - Laura & Pete
Hi Anne, glad you enjoyed your brief get-a-way from Colorado city life. For some unknown reason, by far most of our guests this summer have booked through the 'other hosting site', which is very unusual. It's usually the other way around. But Pete & I are glad you came & home you return, for perhaps a longer stay next time.
Have a fun summer! Laura
The home was in a stunning desert location, with views of Georgia O'Keeffe's pedernal. Nicely equipped kitchen for making meals, comfortable dining and living area, sweet bedrooms. We had a fun and relaxing time here.

Erin, we were happy you, your friend and your dogs could visit Casa Paloma over Labor Day weekend, living so close to us - you, from Santa Fe, and your friend from Albuquerque. Looks like, though the weather was warm those days, you enjoyed Paloma's cool comfort of inside the house - and, of course, the astounding views and the open night sky.
Please come back again and see us for a lengthier visit! Enjoy just relaxing at our home or exploring the many wonders in and around Abiquiu'.

Eileen, you and your friend are pastel artists, if I remember correctly, and were headed down to Albuquerque together for a pastel workshop, stopping by Casa Paloma for an artsy getaway, on your way... Pete and I are glad that we were what you were looking for, meeting and hopefully exceeding your artistic eye for ever-changing landscapes in skies that dwarf our mountains!
Please return, when you have more time, and set up a table easel on the north end of our big dining table... paint with your pastels (or watercolors, or oils... many have even beaded from this table). Let your creative spirits find their muse. Please come again -
All the best, Laura (a fellow artistic soul)
Beautiful house in one of the most breathtaking locations in the world
Wonderful house owned and managed by wonderful people. This location is so beautiful. Nearby is where artist Georgia O'Keeffe lived, found inspiration, and worked.

Denver, you and your family came in and stayed with us for a week at Casa Paloma in late June of '21, during Covid and when the weather was heating up. Yet you followed our shade management suggestions, which kept Paloma cool, and had a wonderful time, both in and around our home and exploring the endless options for adventure in our area. We look forward to your returning to explore still more of northern New Mexico, when you are able.
Best wishes, to you and yours -
Laura and Pete
Staying here had all the comforts of home. You could tell the owners really love and care for this place. Beautiful setting and very quiet. Had wonderful peaceful evenings by the fire on the patio. Very clean. Back yard was great our dogs.
Our stay was relaxing and beautiful - and everything was well cared for. The landscape is magical of course and the house fits perfectly into its surroundings. Exactly what we were looking for! The owners were caring, very helpful and everything was organized. Thanks for a lovely stay.
We loved it. Love the location and the incredible personal atmosphere. Truly cant wait to get back.. lots of relaxing which we needed ..

Leslie,, we enjoyed hosting you in Casa Paloma & I really enjoyed your upbeat nature & how excited you were about our surroundings & our home. It's guests like you that make us happy to share Paloma with the public.

My family loved the house and the beautiful location. The only downside was the lack of A/C. We happened to be there during the hottest days of the year and getting the house to a comfortable temperature wasn't really possible, even with the fans provided.

Jennifer, realizing your family was going to be at Casa Paloma during one of the two heat domes that covered much of the northwestern regions of the United States for an extended time, I spoke with you in depth about 'shade management' we use at the house. It is not perfect, but usually it is effective if followed. Open the windows at night to the chill desert air (a 30 degree drop in temp, usually), then close the windows in the daytime and draw the Smart Shears that we provide for the SW bedroom windows, blocking the heat. We have two oscillating fans and have installed ceiling fans in most rooms. I have personally worked upstairs when the temperature was 93 degrees in the afternoon. With the shades closed & the ceiling fan on, I was comfortable & I am a heat wimp. Few houses in northern NM have AC, as it wasn't needed when they were built. But with climate warming, I'm afraid we're all going to be suffering under escalating temperatures and more frequent heat domes. We cannot control the weather or where it will happen to hit. You were there when temps were in mid-to upper 90s (in mid-August this can certainly happen; you did come to the high desert in summer), but temps in other parts of the country during this heat dome reached 115 degrees. Thank God we didn't see those broiling days and my heart goes out to those who did. One benefit of summer travel to the high desert is that this is 'monsoon season', when we get much of our annual rainfall in the way of afternoon thunderstorms. Not only do these storms provide dramatic skies, they often cool the temps down considerably, with the rains, afterwards. We had a good monsoon season this year. Lots of desperately needed rainfall. Just ask our weeders, working overtime!
I am glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay in our home. We truly try to make guests comfortable in so many other ways that we are able to control. We even built a beautiful two-bay carport to shade cars and protect them from hail that sometimes occurs during these monsoon storms. The unstoppable views, the patio and balcony, comfortable bedrooms, the spacious kitchen filled with cooking supplies - there is SO much to love and enjoy in our home.
This was my second stay at this home. I enjoy the beautiful surroundings, the remote peaceful area, time to unplug. Stunning hiking close by, clean air, my idea of a perfect get away. The house and kitchen are very well stocked.
Lovely northern NM property! Beautifully landscaped with multiple usable outdoor spaces and wonderful views. Hosts really care for the property as it is their part time home. Very good communication. Great hiking opportunities close by, including hiking down a beautiful arroyo just steps away from the house. House interior is nicely laid out but be aware it is very full of the owners' stuff. I think this won't be an issue for most folks, but good to know.
This is the place! If you were wanting access to all things northern New Mexico, this is a centrally located home. Location, location, location! Close to ghost Ranch, Christ in the desert monastery, the church on 84 and the restaurant, Santa Fe, shopping, Taos, ski lodge and shopping, Vanier, national monument and Valle Caldera and much more. You cannot go wrong. The hosts are wonderful and the house is stocked. You can't tell that they are proud owners of this place and take very good care of it. I would highly recommend you choose this location and home for your stay. Oklahoma vacationers.
The house was amazing and very comfortable. If you want quiet and solitude this is the place for you. Make sure you bring plenty of food to cook because it is not close to a market.

Kirk, we did not talk much before or after your quick, drive-through visit on your way back to Texas from points north. But Pete and I hope you and your family will come back to Abiquiu', as a destination, this time - and be sure to bring groceries!! Our kitchen is roomy and pretty much fully equipped for feeding one's family gourmet meals.
Safe travels - Laura
