My family and I enjoyed the beauty of the home with large lanais to relax on, quiet neighborhood aside from the roosters, and the lovely swimming pool!

Kona retreat

Great pool, deck and views. Our family had a great time and very comfortable in the house. The landscaping kept the pool private. We were able to relax all week and really close to many things to do in koba.

Great Home

Loved the view, location and beauty of the house. Perfect areas to enjoy outside and the pool. Being met at the property was nice as well. Not ideal for older family members as the stairs are a lot- as well as the driveway. However perfect for our family needs.

Kona vacation home

We’re a family of five and we found lots to enjoy at the house and Kona area. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and there is a lot of seating options inside and out. The Lanai is huge and has very beautiful views of the coastline and downtown Kona. The pool is very private and a good size for everyone to enjoy. The location is a 10 minute drive to the main tourist centre of Kona or to Keahou bay, where many tours operate from, including the Manta night snorkel. We would stay here again.

Gorgeous view

We had a great stay at the Ono hale! The kids loved the pool & us parents loved cruising on the lanai. The lanai has a gorgeous view of the sunset & over looks the pool if you don’t wanna walk down to it, you can still see everyone having a blast. The house is spacious & lots of room to play cards, play games & eat all together. The house was very clean, clean linens not musty & has a washer & a dryer. Blake Kessner was easy to contact when we had any questions. We had a great stay!

Great Stay

The property was located in a very convenient and central location. It was close to the airport which was great! The pool was our favourite part - it was clean and had lots of pool accessories and chairs around. Kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans. There is no a/c which we didn't realize until arrival, however I think this is a common theme in the area. There were fans provided in the residence. Overall, it was a great place to stay for our short vacation in the Big Island as we were able to drive to all of our destinations in relatively short periods of time.

A lot of stairs to climb in order to reach the main level of the living area which was not mentioned in the living details.Had a horrible ant problem.Main living room area furniture was very uncomfortable and not what was shown in the original pictures.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that certain aspects of your stay did not meet expectations. The property does have stairs, and we’ll be sure to clarify this more prominently in the listing details for future guests. We’ve also addressed the ant issue with immediate professional pest control and have reinforced preventative measures. Regarding the living room furniture, it was recently updated, and we’ll review the listing photos to ensure they reflect the current setup accurately. We appreciate your comments as they help us improve the experience for all our guests.

Large home good for families

We enjoyed our stay very much. There were several small things in need of repair/attention and I’ll send a list to realtor. One safety concern was called in and there was no response. It was Christmas holiday so I’ll give a break for that reason. Otherwise I recommend.

SUNSETS!!!!

Sunsets, sunsets, sunsets!!!! Thar Ono Hale house was perfect for our family stay. We had 3 generations of family members on this trip and the house accommodated everyone's needs. The kiddos loved the pool and the large lani was perfect to watch over them. The location of the house is within a very short drive to shopping, beaches and groceries. The weather was perfect with the slight breeze moving throughout the house. I was fortunate enough to live on the big island years ago and have always loved the Kona side. The views this house provides makes me wanna move back. Mahalo Ono Hale house. The Ballard family.

Spot-on where it matters most

Beautiful patio and place to sit on main level, as well as the master. Wish I had more time to spend there. No bugs in the late evening was a pleasant surprise. Could have slept there. Very comfortable for three couples. Plenty of space and good/comfortable furnishings. My only suggestions for the owners is to update some cookware, especially the knives, and get the driveway lights working. But, neither would keep me away...I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful stay!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved Ono Hale! It is conveniently located and a perfect hub. We loved the lanai and spent our mornings and evenings., listening to birds. It was great to have the beach towels and chairs to use. For our snorkeling days. We enjoyed coming back and taking a dip in the pool. Fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds. Wonderful place for our family. (Not a negative for us, but there are lots of stairs and this could be a problem for someone). We would stay again!

Decent home

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home shows it has 3 tv’s although there is only 2. One in the living room and one in the master room. The home does have a chest in the front full of pool items and scuba items. The property was clean except for a molded container on the top fridge. I would recommend this property but be advised there are a lot of stairs in the home and the drive way is a very steep hill which can be difficult to maneuver. Lots of bugs but it’s given in Hawaii, make sure to apply bug spray. The lanai is the BEST part of this home.
Response from VrboOwner on 2 August 2025
Thank you for your review and for choosing to stay with us. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the lanai—it truly is one of the standout features of the home, perfect for relaxing and taking in the island surroundings. We appreciate your comments regarding the TVs and will review the listing to ensure it’s accurately represented. Mahalo also for pointing out the container in the fridge; we’ve addressed this with our housekeeping team to prevent future oversights. As you mentioned, the home does have stairs and a sloped driveway, which can be common in hillside Kona homes, but we understand it may not be ideal for everyone and will do our best to note that clearly for future guests. While we do our best with pest control, the tropical environment can bring occasional bugs, and your tip about bug spray is a helpful reminder for travelers new to Hawaii. We’re grateful for your recommendation and hope to welcome you back again soon!
