We stayed here in August and had such an amazing time! We absolutely loved the waterfront view and ability to fish, swim, kayak right from the property. The home is very unique and we felt very comfortable there.
We stayed at the cottage with our 2 adult children and a friend. The weather was perfect. We swam everyday, kayaked and enjoyed the yard. The cottage was perfect!
The location is surrounded by natural beauty. My family has vacationed on Pequawket Pond many times. This was our first time at Moose Cabin. It was a perfect fit for myself and my son and daughter, the added bonus was being able to travel with our dog.
A great house, with everything you need and nothing that you don't, clean and 7-8 minutes from the downtown with shops, restaurants and music that North Conway has to offer. Unlimited number of ski and hiking trails around. Since we stayed in February, we could not really explore the lake, but I imagine it must be a real summer retreat. Maggie and Carl are perfect hosts. Thank you!
The house is a log cabin with a lot of character. There is plenty of sitting and sleeping space. The property was clean inside and out. There was a good selection of paddle boats and equipment. The house is nearby several restaurants and stores. The best part is probably the view of the lake and surrounding mountains, especially during sunset. Would love to return!
Lovely location, privacy and the biggest firepit we have ever seen. Ten minutes from North Conway but it's like being in your own world. You can choose to do everything or nothing. We enjoyed the kayaks, petal boat, a loon, ducks, a crane, woodpeckers, some crazy volture dive bombing into the water for dinner and chipmunks. The outdoor grill is great and the kitchen is stocked with all the necessities and more !!

Too rustic for us
The owner met us to let us in. She was lovely. The view and proximity to the dock/water was amazing. The interior was too rustic for us...it was not clean and several appliance were on the way out (dishwasher, fridge, toaster, vacuum, dvd player). We spent more time inside then we normally would due to the weather so the cleanliness and overall datedness ended up being a far bigger factor than anticipated.
We were so lucky as our hosts were the most accommodating, the most communicative and thoughtful hosts I’ve ever had! She kept in touch with us from the moment we booked and made everything so easy for us. The house had more to offer than your typical online vacation home. We enjoyed being able to have our dog with us, And we even forgot our food bowls, which she was so kind to provide without even asking! The house was very clean and the view was wonderful. All instructions were so clear. We truly enjoyed having a moment of peace while being nice and close to North Conway and skiing for our family. We hope we can come back again!
We just spent a short weekend at Moose Cabin and couldn't have been happier. Maggie was very responsive to all my questions and gave us good tips. We loved hanging out on the deck, and using the hammock and the kayaks. Everything was clean and kitchen has the essentials. Cabin is definitely rustic and bathroom could use better lighting but we did not mind. I think it would be a bit hot in the middle of summer because the place does not have central A/C but we were fine with the windows opened and fans. Loved being able to bring our Bernese with us. Would love to return. Definitely recommend it!
We had stayed on the pond twice before, but this was our favorite place so far. Pequawket is one of my favorite ponds because the fishing never disappoints, and this time was no different- my son and I caught over a dozen large mouth bass over 2 pounds with the largest weighing in at just over 4. The location is perfect with tons to do within a short drive but when you are on the deck looking out at the water you feel like you are way out in nature. The hosts met us there, gave us a tour and then left us alone and were not at all intrusive. They were very friendly and quickly responded to all my questions before we came. The place is lovely- rustic, but everything worked well and had anything you needed - including laundry and dishwasher. Great cabin feel. Awesome deck. It worked well for the four of us - two adults and two adult children. We would definitively stay again!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this rustic and campy cabin, and it was an absolute dream! The cozy atmosphere and charming decor instantly transported me to a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature.
One of the highlights of this cabin was its proximity to the water. It was conveniently close, allowing easy access to enjoy the clean and refreshing swimming water. I spent hours swimming and basking in the natural beauty that surrounded me. It was a truly rejuvenating experience.
The availability of kayaks added an extra element of adventure to my stay. I loved being able to explore the nearby waterways and take in the serene surroundings from a different perspective. It was a fantastic way to connect with nature and enjoy some outdoor activities.
Another convenience was the nearby grocery store. It was within a short distance, making it easy to stock up on supplies and essentials. I appreciated the convenience of having everything I needed just a quick trip away, ensuring a hassle-free and enjoyable stay.
As a pet owner, it was wonderful to find a place that warmly welcomed my furry companions. My dogs absolutely loved it! The cabin provided ample space for them to roam and explore, and the natural surroundings provided endless opportunities for them to burn off some energy.

Close but not cigar
Only reason its not a 1 is because the location and setting. Access to conway is super easy and the beach/pond are amazing.
with no AC it is bad form for the ceiling fan in the vaulted ceiling to be broken. Owners were dismissive when i asked about it on check in. Based on the 2 inch dust bunnies hanging off it, its been broken for a moment.
There is also a massive picture window on the second floor that faces west. After mid afternoon, the front of the house gets direct sun. The large picture window has no blind so it bakes the house. The black fridge becomes very hot to touch its so bad. There is also no way to open the windows up there which prohibits air flow, trapping the hot air. Numerous windows have poor sun protection that i ended up hanging towels to help keep the place cool.
They supply a good quantity of fans. Some have seen better days.
Once temperatures dropped overnight you can cool the house down to the outside temp. This lasts for a little and by lunch the inside is unusable.
Outside needs some beach umbrellas and other shade. The outside areas even have stakes in the ground already.
Some smells in the bathroom throughout the stay. Not sure if cleanliness or related to their pipes.
The back of the house has a permanently on security light. Which at night, attracted tons of bugs. Some of the window screens do not provide full coverage, so moths and stuff get in.
Barely above camping. Would not recommend in peak summer.

Dear Mr Doughty,
Dear Mr. Dougherty,
I have been renting for ten years and yours is my first bad review. I do not typically respond to reviews, but felt I needed to respond to yours. I waited a while before replying because I wanted to provide a thoughtful response.
Your family traveled by car for two-days in the hot summer to get to my cabin. Your wife was pregnant and you had a three year old in-tow. I can certainly understand that you guys must have been exhausted upon arrival. However, I knew right away when I greeted your family and saw the look on your wife’s face that you were not going to have a good week.
Yes, my cabin faces the lake and mountains with many windows to enjoy that view. Most people say that’s its greatest feature. I do have curtains you can pull across to block the sun. I’m sorry you did not see them. The ceiling fan is for winter use to keep the hot air, which rises, moving down to the floor-level. No other renters have ever mentioned any smells in the bathroom. If the exterior spot-light was a concern, you should have simply walked-around and tried flipping a few light-switches to find the one that turned it off. If the window screens were not tight, you could have simply adjusted them. If you like using a beach umbrella, you should have brought one with you. And lastly, I have never heard of anyone having a problem with the color of our refrigerator, but there is always a first.
I sense that most of your concerns about my cabin related more to your family’s particular situation. Given the challenges of caring for a young child while your wife was in the advanced stages of pregnancy in the heat of the summer, perhaps you should have selected a different venue for your vacation this particular year. In the future there may be a time when my cabin’s setting would be ideal for your family and when that happens, I hope you return. I would enjoy seeing you all again. I wish you and your growing family the very best.
We have stayed at Moose cabin twice now and look forward to our next trip. Lovely rustic cabin on a quiet lake. Close to North Conway if you want to shop or eat out. My sons enjoyed fishing on the lake in the kayaks provided by the owners. Owners are very responsive if you have any questions.
We had a great Labor Day weekend staying at Moose cabin! The house had plenty of room to sleep four adults and two dogs. We used the kayaks and canoe, and the pond was very clean and perfect for swimming. Host was very communicative and check in and check out process was simple.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. Nice place to stay that is well equipped and right on a beautiful small lake. Minutes to grocery stores, etc - so it is very convenient as well. Absolutely recommend for a NH vacation.

About the host

We used to vacation at this cabin and loved it so much, we bought it as soon as it was available for sale! The property is specifically geared toward families and we provide a lot of unique things for kids and families to enjoy. Our frequent guests often boast that they don't even have to ever leave our property....they can just vacation on our beach all week. We hope your family will enjoy it too.
Why they chose this property
Our cabin is considered by many to be the Best Property on this Lake - best beach and best mountain views!!! Our lake is North Conway's best-kept secret - close to all attractions, but away from the crowds.
